The National Park Service, formed in 1916, cares for our parks......YES!...our parks! Working with park partners and volunteers, they help to care for and preserve over 84 million acres of land, over 4.5 million acres of lakes, reservoirs and oceans, over 43,000 miles of coastline, 68,561 archaeological sites and much more.

As part of the U.S. Department of the Interior the National Parks Service has over 20,000 employees and almost 2.5 million volunteers.

So with summer approaching why not make plans to visit our parks! There are passes you can get that will save you money! The Passes are good at over 2,000 Federal Recreation Sites covering entrance fees at the National Parks and Wildlife Refuges and standard amenity fees at National Forests and grasslands.

Feng Shui and Reading Energy by Feng Shui LI

Taking the time to understanding the deeper components to the practice of Feng Shui is a fascinating journey. The basic understandings to this lifestyle is that you "re-arrange your furniture to create a better flow of energy in you space." Many recognize Feng Shui for the use of certain elements and colors as well, which is all correct :)

But, what if you take the time to truly feel the energy of the room, to really break down the different ways with how to read energy, to feel or for some to see it. It's never black or white, there are so many in-between levels when utilizing this art form to enhance the well being of your home, business and life.

Feng Shui says energy can become stuck or stagnant because:

placement of furniture
visual look and placement of furniture
combination of furniture placement and the energy of the object themselves
amount of furniture in a room
arrangement of the five elements in the house or room
history of the land and home
emotional energy from previous occupants or those currently living there

There are so many other sonorous, but this is just to give an example

Feng Shui and the Power of Visualization by laura cerrano

Visualizing what you wish to create is the first step to manifesting your dreams. At a more advanced level you can manifest certain energy fields within yourself and feel the physical effects. There are various ways to achieve this. The Native Americans acomplished this by calling to their personal spirit animals or a specific totem animal for a certain moment in life. This allowed them to take on the mental characteristics of that creature and when believing in that energy, it manifested into emotions and connected with the body.

Remember, once your mind is wired in, your emotions and body will follow. For example, I had a friend describe to me while lifting weights at his local gym, he began to visualize a boa constrictor. Think about the characteristics of a boa constrictor, pure muscle, strength, very controlled and fast movements when needed.

As he visualized these qualities, his mind began to manifest those thoughts and being open to this belief, his emotions and body took on the characteristics of the boa constrictor while working out. He said, his average lifting weight when using the lat pull down bar was around 130 lbs. When thinking about the power of the boa constrictor, falling back on his mediation training and breathing techniques he noticed that 130lbs felt light.

So he upped the weight until he hit 230 lbs and lifted that with ease. when lifting weights you are not supposed to jump up a 100lbs. It should be in accomplished in increments of 5, 10, 15 and so on, so you do not hurt yourself. The power of visualization is real and he shared a story that manifested from mental to physical because he believed.

One DAY AWAY from the Grand Canyon Hike in honor of Mom

Feng Shui Long Island, Inc. and Feng Shui Manhattan, Inc. has always been involved with community projects and volunteering when able to. The love for motivating and inspiring others is a core key element to Feng Shui. This past year I have been consulting and personal training with many clients that have been recovering or going through treatments for Leukemia and Lymphoma. To honor them and their family members I have recently teamed up with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training for the Grand Canyon Inspirational Hike taking place this May of 2012.

The training for the Grand Canyon is very personal as well and I see it as a full circle happening. In 1996, my family and I traveled to the Grand Canyon and that is were my mother, Carole Provenzale and I were introduced to the concepts and teachings of Feng Shui. The Grand Canyon was the starting point for all that has been created with Feng Shui up till this very day for my family. This trip is not just about fund-raising, it's about honoring my mother who passed away in 2010 and of course helping to find a cure for better treatment and in due time a cure.

As a gift in honor of mom and various others, I am still accepting donations for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

To accomplish that mission, I’m participating in a sports endurance event as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support; I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.

I recently received a phone call from a woman who said she was the wife of David. I have changed the names to protect the innocent. Now, I am asking the woman on the phone to repeat herself because I was driving. She informed me that she was the wife of Jeff. She thought it was important to tell me that her husband had committed suicide. Wow, her words put a sword through my heart. Jeff was my main contractor doing the remodeling on homes purchased from investors. I never would of thought Jeff would take his own life. It was a sad day.

How many of us get depressed at times? All we hear on the media is negative news on a daily basis. Where does one get filled up with positive energy? It is not the national media. I have thrown my television into the garbage. I refuse to participate in the negative news coming across it. The real estate industry has been taking a hit across America. I have talked to several agents that are depressed and down on their luck. What does one do?

HARRY'S TOP FIVE WAYS TO STAY POSITIVE IN LIFE:

Think Positive-You are what you think. Have positive thoughts about yourself.

Diet-Avoid fast food restaurants. Eat right to bring energy into your body.

Exercise-Get that body moving. Exercise is a great way to burn off fat and work off stress.

Change Friendships-Do you have positive relationships surrounding you? If not, change the people you associate with at this time. Birds of a feather do flock together.

Hobbies-Create other interests besides work and church. Enjoy something that you do. This will create opportunity to meet different people.

We all get depressed at different times. However, we want to avoid falling into deep depression. We have a great life. Make it happen!

Those who do not dream are afraid and be sure they are the ones who will try and deter you from following your own dreams. Do not listen to them. Sometimes these "blockages" can come from strangers, family, friends, whom ever. As long as you put in the effort, follow your intuition, have patience, passion and take action, the universe will do it's part to put in place the connections you need to follow through with your dreams.

With out dreams we would not have ideas. Without ideas we would have nothing to inspire creation. Without creation we would have no reason to be. So Dream.

You never just have one mother, we have many. Moms are those who care for us, nurture us, give us guidance and advice during tough times in life. Mothers except you for who you truly are no matter what. She is your world, the one you run to when you fall and cry. For those who have lost mom, know she is always with you, every step of the way.

To be a mother is an honor. It's the toughest "job" in the world because there is no retirement. Even long after her children grow up, they are still her babies.

There is no love like the love of mom.

Sometimes its hard to see the vision in your mind become reality.

For those who may struggle with "extended Feng Shui Vision," no worries. Laura Cerrano utilizes her Art background to create simple layout diagrams of your space based off the description of what you seek when looking to redesign your space with Feng Shui.

Depicting a basic layout of a living room set up according to Feng Shui. The mirror was placed to bring in more light from the window that was opposite the couch. Two side tables for balance, with lamps (if they so choose), throw pillows for accented colors and a small throw rug to add a soft cushioned area before sitting on the couch.

These redesign diagrams are always included into your Feng Shui Summary, which you receive after every Full Feng Shui Consultation.

This will help you gain direction with how to set up your newly designed space, placement of items, elements, furniture and even what the space could potentially look like with added windows or taken down walls. This will allow you to have a glimpse into the future with your ideas.

Additinal suggestions are always placed in the summary. Remember there is no one way to do anything and Laura Cerrano provides various options with how to redesign you space to accommodate your budget. Many times you already have what you need, it just comes down to the Art Mindful Placement ;)

It all Starts with a simple idea by Feng Shui LI

It all starts with a simple idea. Than it develops into an action, followed by unstoppable motions and connections of universal happenings to help spread that seed of an idea. It only took one person to introduce Feng Shui to America and that was High Holy Master Professor Lin Yun.

This is not to say that others didn't speake about Feng Shui because they did. But, to really shine light and bring awareness to any new idea or topic, you need a strong spirited and influential individual. Professor Lin Yun visited various lecture venues back in the 1980's and 90's talking about Feng Shui and as he made his way from the West Coast to East, the teachings of Feng Shui spread to certain areas of the United States that began to embraced it.

When Professor Lin Yun was invited to the United Nations in the early 1990's to speak, that was the single moment in time created for him to educated and inspire other influential people with this beautiful art form. All he had to do was plant a seed of an idea for others learn about, nurture and in due time grow and share.

In the mid to late 90's as the teaching of Feng Shui started to take hold, it was seen as witchcraft, negative worship and so on. But in the year 2000 to this very day, Feng Shui has gained more respect and is now all around us. Even if you do not refer to it as Feng Shui, that is not really what was introduced. Professor Lin Yun introduced the idea to America that life is not black and white, life is full different shades of grays. Meaning, life is made up of energy, your personal actions can effect others as well as yourself and the enviroment. Everything is interconnected.

Yogo, meditation and other forms of "alternative" healing were always around in the US, dating back to the 1960's and probably even further than that. Again, it was not until an influential, strong spirited and driven person broke through those barriers to help bring awareness and connect the dots for other practices.

The idea of Feng Shu, energy, Reiki and other forms of Natural healing is starting to hit it's peak and many are starting to see the benefits of incorporating these practices into thier lives and homes.

Revisiting a Business Feng Shuied by High Holy Master Lin Yun in Queens NY

This was an amazing experience to be in a actual space that was Feng Shuied by High Holy Master Lin Yun. Mr. Yun is responsible for brining the teachings of Feng Shui to America back in the early 1990's. My mother Carole Provenzale who was a Certified Feng Shui consultant studied Professor Lin Yun's teachings and in 1997 was blessed by him at her graduation in his monastery on Long Island NY. This Queens NY based business has been up and running for 15 years and continues to go strong and grow.

Walking inside, the enhancements of Feng Shui were felt and known right away. Professor Lin Yun informed the Japanees resturant owner to place a fish tank by the front door. The owner was told to place nine fish all together which would promote abundance in wealth and success. At the same time, the element of water brings in better flowing opportunities for all to prosper.

Above the fish tank was placed two statues of pigs that represented the Chinese astrology animals. One large and one small, this symbolized his family, for his wife is the sign of the pig as well as his eldest son. The owner will soon purchase a rabbit to acknowledge his youngest son as well.

The fish tank was also reflected by a giant mirror, which helped bring in more light into the space, open the area up to feel much bigger and double the energy of abundance by reflecting the fish tank.

To walk in the foot steps of a true master and see his Feng Shui work first hand was a true gift and treat.

Hiking Bear Mountain New York to Raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

Welcome to Bear Mountain in New York State

The Grand Canyon Hike in is approaching The Feng Shui team in Training group very quickly. We hike in honor of all those fighting blood cancers and fund-raisin in hope to help find better treatments and ultimately a cure.

This training for the Grand Canyon is very personal as well and I see it as a full cirlce happening. In 1996, my family and I traveled to the Grand Canyon and that is were my mother, Carole Provenzale and I were introduced to the concepts and teachings of Feng Shui. The Grand Canyon was the starting point for all that has been created with Feng Shui up till this very day :) This trip is not just about fund-raisining, it's about honoring my mother who passed in 2010 and of course all those who are fighting to find a cure to these unnecessary blood cancers.

It took us about 3 hours to reach the top of Bear Mountain. We rested for lunch and then continued on with our training session.

One may ask, How do you train for the Grand Canyon? You learn what to wear, purchase outfits that are breathable material (polyester), proper footwear (hiking boats, water-Prof) and backpack. When you hike, you need food and water. In the Grand Canyon, depending on the trail you pick, you will need up to 3-4 litters of water, along with your food. That can add up to about 8-10 or more extra pound that you need to carry, along with your own body weight.

So strength training is a must, along with cross training and practicing hiking up mountains that are challenging you.

All these hikes are so worth it for many different reasons :)
