The Gift of a Garaughty-With a little Cheese on Top
In most people's world, it is called "Paying it Forward." To a New York Feng Shui Consultant, we simply see it as "Helpful People," my all time favorite area of the Bagua. One thing I am always mindful of is to address those Helpful People in your life...honor them and more will follow.
We've ALL had this happen at one time or another. We'll mention something to someone we have just met or a friend-and they just happen to know the PERFECT Person for what you are looking for. You've just saved countless hours of trying to find someone who can help you with whatever it is you need: a good doctor, a great repairman, perhaps even the love of your life.
When I think of the Synchronicity of Feng Shui, I am convinced after years of practicing this lovely art that it most often starts at "Helpful People." It continues through the Bagua (and your Intentions) to create things you may not have believed imaginable.
A crash course on Helpful People in Feng Shui: I call the Helpful People in MY LIFE the 3 o'clock in the morning people. The ones that will truly come to help you no matter what time it is or where you are. Most of us have few of them but those we have are treasured; and we could ALL use MORE.
This area of the Bagua is generally located after walking in the Front Door and turning to the RIGHT. Choose a table or shelf in that area if you can. If you don't happen to have a space in this particular area, CHOOSE an area for Helpful People. You are going to Acknowledge them. It's easy to do.
Put up a picture of a truly helpful person. Or you can choose something that perhaps they have given you. If you have nothing, simply write their name on a card and put it in the same area. Put them all together and (here's the KEY), put them WITH THE INTENTION OF DRAWING EVEN MORE HELPFUL PEOPLE IN.
A recent example: For some who have read about the never-ending issues with my home, I have had my land graded not once, but TWICE. I was careful in my selection. As careful as I could be. When the ice finally melted this year, it make a landslide....back to my foundation, the very thing I was trying to keep the water AWAY from.
The prospect of calling in yet MORE people was more then I could think about. I put it off...and addressed Helpful People. (Yes, I know, it sounds impractical but it WORKS). On my Feng Shui Consultation recently in East Meadow Long Island, I asked my client what his line of work was. Do I have to tell you? Masonary. While his company normally now does large projects for schools and hospitals, he said he would be glad to come and look at my house. Helpful?
One thing to never forget: If you STOP acknowledging Helpful People, they will stop coming. Don't forget to add people as they come into your life, even if it's only temporarily.
What DOES this have to do with the Blog Artist on here, Mr. Marti Garaughty marti garaughty - The Blog Artist (The Art Of Marketing You ...
![]()
As most of you know, he completely revamped my blog. What most of you probably DON'T know is the time and trouble he went through to do it. When he asked me for accounts to sign into so he could add them, I didn't remember them. Or, in the case of MyBlogLog, I had signed up for it but had never done anything with it. Poor Marti. I confused him-and myself while we BOTH tried to figure out what I had done in each place we went to.
He spent at LEAST double the time it normally would have taken him. I'm willing to bet he wonders how I even manage to blog Did he get annoyed with me? Probably, but he's way too much of a gentleman to ever say so! He completely redesigned my blog-header and all-AND was a PLEASURE to work with. So if you've commented or sent me an email (even from new family members on Activerain), go visit Marti. If you have a problem, he'll fix it!
As for the "Cheese" on Top. Well, Sally Celeste "SALLY" Cheeseman HAWAII Relocations & Real Estate ... saw my new blog...and loved it. Except I was sitting in a booth, very visible in the picture. I work up to an email one day that said "I hope you don't mind." She had taken her time to edit the booth right out of the picture! I didn't even ASK......

Just TWO, out of SO many, who contribute above and beyond to this community. Truly HELPFUL PEOPLE. Oh, and my home will be re-graded again shortly (third time's a charm). Who has helped you recently? Or, even better, who have YOU helped?

If we are open to things they will happen. You have proved it time and again. Good luck with the foundation. Enjoy today.
I love "positive energy" or helpful people and I love the idea of having a place to honor them. I am going to think about how to do that and you are totally right about honoring them! I whole heartedly agree! I love reading your take on Feng Shui and marty and Celeste should definitely be in your "honor spot"!
Carole, this is a lovely post. Really great of you to thank Marti and Sally this way.
Very helpful people. :)
And thank God for your masonry guy.
The exact same thing happened to me with the big thaw, and I have water coming into my basement. And like you, I've already done it twice.... :(
I hope your basement problems are fixed now. I know what a huge headache that is.
I help as much as I can here in the Rain, with my limited knowledge, but I also do my fair share outside the Rain, every chance I get. There is always room for improvement, though.
Of course, I find helpful people here, every day.
Carole ~ I believe it! I have met so many Helpful People here on Active Rain - including you Carole!
Carole,
Marti is a gem....with so much talent that he puts to the best use~helping others. I love what he did with your blog and Sally is truly one of the most thoughtful people in the rain...
After reading this I began thinking of my helpful people area. Funny, since I moved, I no longer have one. Hmmmm.....
Jo
hi Carole... wow and thx, it was a pleausre to spice up your blog despite the bumps in the road.
Meeting people like you, Sally and so many others has been one of the nicest things about the Rain and you're definitely at the top of the "nice list". ;-) {hug}
Carole - helpful people are everywhere in the Rain. It's amazing, it's heartwarming, and it's reassuring that in such times of turmoil, as our country is in, there are SO many good folks. And that includes YOU!
Marti is a tremendous artist. I wish I had just 1/10th of his talent ... I would be a happy camper.
Carole--The amount of wonderful people that help and work with others on in the Rain are too numerous to count. I know Sally always goes above and beyond, now thanks to your post, I know about Marti and Bagua too!
Paddy, I like to think I'm open to all positive things. Spring itself is a big one on my list but I had to acknowledge these helpful people.
Crystal, Please do it, choose an area that will just be a shelf or in a bookcase. This works in Feng Shui as long as we continue to add them when they come in or acknowledge them.
Sylvie, There are an amazing amount of wonderful and very helpful people in the rain. It's almost impossible for me to acknowledge them all but these special people BOTH went out of their way many times. As for the basement, it's not done yet but I feel I've found the perfect person..finally!
Kathy, Thank you, I hope you can find a space and use it. And although you don't need it, good luck on your speaking engagement--I was so happy to read that!
Jo, You no longer have one? That is something to take care of right away, especially being in a new location. You know how to do it---and it won't take long. Then you can come back and report WHEN it works (not if).
Marti, I am SO sorry for all the trouble I put you through and in spite of it all, you did a phenominal job! AND kept your patience (which is amazing in and of itself!). I can't thank you enough for all your hard work, thoughfulness and TALENT.
Carol, You and me BOTH. Many people including you have helped me so much along the way but so many people came to comment on Marti's wonderful work, I had to let everyone know what a KIND and patient person he is, too. And Sally I didn't even have to ask...Wonderful people here.
Teri, I love the information on here and try to do some SEO but most of it I can't get--and honestly don't want to when there are so many things I'd rather be learning. This was a joy from start to finish!
Carole, Sally and Marti are tops for sure. JUST LIKE CAROLE PROVENZALE.
Hi Carole! You are so sweet to recognize these two of my favorite members here in the Rain--they both are incredibly helpful and welcoming to new members. BTW--I love your new blog and your photo too!
Hugs to you all around town....and marti is such a wonderful person too! That is the essence of the rain....the rewards...the people.....the art of giving....from the heart. :) And you...my friend...are the most giving and appreciative person I know :)
Carole- Oh yes, we should acknowledge the people that are helpful in any fashion. marti is tops, and as you said has a lot of patience, I know :) And Sally, well she has helped me many times with one thing or another....give and take makes things even better. BTW I love your new picture, and love it even more without the couch LOL :)
You are surrounded by so many wonderful people because of the person that you are! These are 2 very special people. I know that you have given so much to so many.
What a wonderful way to pay tribute to those people who go "above & beyond" for us every day. Thanks!
I am definitely not surprised that you attract the helpful people to you. How you select and use your words definitely convey you caring and compassion for others as well as your admiration of beauty. I can truly appreciate the benefit of putting good energy out into the world, and you definitely do that. BTW, your new photo looks awesome!
Nice story! I like your new avatar picture. Glad to hear your blog is making progress.
Marti is amazing and he's done a incredible job with you blog - i still can't quite get over it! I'm check out the right side of my door and putting a bucket there! lol
Carole,
I love your new blog header. Marti is definitely talented. Sally I don't know about but will be checking her posts. I have seen her name on numerous blogs.
Gary, They are tops...I would say just like GARY WOLTAL!
Debe, They are terrific but then again, so are you and SO many others on here :)
Sally, That was so NICE of you and it looks much better without the "booth." Thank you my friend.
Kathy, You were the one that said it was kind of like we had our own little group--all of us with the lovely Marti designs. You were right :)
Joan, Thank you but so have you. I believe some of the BEST people are on this site!
Annie, I would love to pay tribute to everyone that has helped me on here....but there are SO many I have no idea how to do it!
Rich, Thank you so much for your kind words. I can't tell you how much I'm going to enjoy your garden again--please send some fresh food (and a bill, I promise I'm good for it!). What a beautiful undertaking that is paying you back in spades!
Georgina, I just got another call...from my blog. I honestly can't take credit for it but am very happy about it!
Liz, So many people have not only commented but emailed me. Talk about Helpful People, they and so many others are just terrific! (Get a shelf :)
Brenda, Sally runs the popular group POSITIVE ATTITUDE FOR THE WEARY SOUL. It is lovely and she just announced a contest I think you would love. Thanks so much for your comment.
Carole, I admire you for knowing how to appreciate the many special people in your life. Love this post and you must know I adore mARTi and his amazing talent. Have you seen the cover of my book? ...a mARTi design.
You are special for highlighting these two sharing and caring Rainers. Much continued success to you.
You make me want to learn more about Feng shui. BTW I have mARTi's artwork in my entrance foyer!
Carole, I love this post and your new photo. I've been off for a while so perhaps it isnt' so new, but very complimentary. And YOU are one of the helpful people, you are always sharing and giving free and helpful advice about feng shui to all of us here. THANKS for the richness you bring to the rain.
Margaret, I haven't seen your book I'm SO sorry. But I can tell you I'm going to buy it--I am thrilled for your success! I LOVE Marti's artwork, I have been to his site many times...and recommended it for a project I am working on. I'm hoping......
Terrylynn, Welcome back and thank you for the nice comment. I wish I could list ALL the people who have helped me along the way but I don't think it's possible! There are SO many wonderful people!
