What do LEAKS in Feng Shui Mean? Since I'm going through it, I thought you might as well know...

I had NO intention of blogging about Feng Shui tonight....but I wondered if any of you had known about this and, if you didn't, thought you should.

In Feng Shui we relate LEAKS in a home to health issues, specifically blood flow in the body.  Clients will very often, about one third of the time, "spring a leak" after a consultation.   That's alot of people and many homes but it happens often enough that I will advise them prior.

We see the leak in a home as a GOODsign (costs of fixing it aside) as it means any negativity in the home is releasing.  Just as your body releases negative energy during Acupuncture, we believe homes (and buildings) release as well.

I had an appointment today in Queens and late last night, went downstairs to throw the wash in....I haven't been downstairs since last week, the last time I did the laundry.  It's a finished basement and very nice, I just don't often spend any time in it.

It WASN'T very nice last night.  I noticed the rug was soaking wet; and when I walked into the laundry room, saw that the dropped ceiling had indeed, dropped...to the dryer directly under it, the floor and everywhere.  It was soaking wet, many of my papers and pictures from my old camera were ruined and water was pouring down.  I found the main water line and shut it down but had a mess.....and no water.  Things I didn't know:  trying to find a plumber at 10pm is almost impossible, despite their ads of "on call 24-7."  The one I did finally find had a "night differential" and his charges were $163 to walk in the door for the first 30 minutes, $99 every 30 minutes after.

I put up buckets, towels and tried very hard to sleep.  I HAD made some Feng Shui "Adjustments" to my home yesterday, but I am ALWAYS doing that!  I kept wondering if I had any negative energy in the home or just very bad pipes (this house is well over 100 years old).

Having been up all night, I needed to cancel my appointment which I HATE to do or try to find a plumber when I got home.....I kept thinking if my thoughts were on MY house, I wasn't going to be able to help THEIR house very much.  My client couldn't have been nicer about it and she was kind enough to reschedule.  There must be a severe shortage of plumbers here on Long Island, I called at least 6 before one returned my call.....He came, finally and found the leak and gave me the price (OUCH!) to fix it.  And said that because the downstairs was so damaged, before I got mold I needed to call someone else in as well to help dry and clean and prevent mold from forming.

A few hours later a small team arrived...with Many Machines.  LOUD machines.  They have to stay for days, upstairs and down, running constantly.  So, bad plumbing or Feng Shui?  I'm not really sure but I DO know how my clients feel now, I know where the Water Main is to shut it off and I still believe that leaks relate to health and am glad I addressed it as soon as I could.  (That goes for dripping faucets, running toilets...); I am also glad I had these cleaners come because I know I won't get mold and can remind my clients to do the same. If the house DID have any energy, it's gone.....and soon the machines will be as well.

Please keep that in mind in your own homes and businesses.  If you develop a leak, even a small one, don't let it go, get it fixed as soon as possible.  Your health is more important then anything!

Hopefully it was just bad pipes and not bad energy. I hope that things don't happen in 3's with fung shui. It sounds like you're being proactive to keep the energy positive.

HI Bridget, thank you for the comment.  If it WAS negative energy from anything, it's gone now!  And better that it's out :)  I haven't heard of things happening in three's with Feng Shui and just glad I was able to get it fixed right away!

Interesting. I have also studied Feng Shui. One thing I I find fascinating is that when something is happening to you, you often can't identify the meaning as well as you can with other people (this is true for me, at least).

Reading your post, I realized I have a leaky faucet, which up until this point I was trying to ignore (too many other things on the list of things to do).

Thanks for the reminder.

HI Deborah, Welcome!  Another person who knows Feng Shui works....I have been Certified for over ten years and I'm STILL learning, it's a never ending process that facinates me every time I do a consultation. I'm surprised it's not more popular where you are, it's finally taken off both on Long Island and in New York.  Get your leak fixed....no one needs health issues!!  Thanks for the comment.

Carole- I am fascinated by your subject -Feng Shui- and captivated by the article on leaks. If I had time I would share my story about a sudden and dramatic leak in a house several years ago. Perhaps one of these days I will have the time to share it with you. I am most pleased to hear that leaks have positive values in Feng Shui.
