Ok, Let's try ONE simple Feng Shui Cure---for keeping MONEY

As mentioned in previous posts, the bathroom in Feng Shui is considered the WORST room in the house.  Why?  It has drains and many consultants see your money as being "flushed away"by all the drain energy.  Particulary if they are located in your WEALTH area.  Prospective buyers who LOVED a home have been persuaded not to buy one if there is a bathroom located there.

(As an aside, to find your WEALTH area in the home, stand at your front door.  Go to the Back Left Hand Corner of your home and check to see what's going on there.  Is there a light to "light" up your wealth or is there a dying plant.  This is NOT an area you want to mess around with.

As another perspective, drains in a home are a normal part of any house.  So what to do if YOUR bathroom is in Wealth??  Well, first check to see if it has excessive drain energy---for example a jacuzzi that uses a lot of water.  If it does, you can make adjustments to this to deflect that energy away.  But for normal bathrooms, what can you do no matter where they are located?

Simple.  Keep the door closed.  The drain does not escape into other areas of the home.  If you've got a window in there, put a plant right on the tank. This deflects the drain energy with a healthy, growing object.  Look for a plant with rounded leaves, not a cactus or "Stalky" kind like a snake plant--we want a "flow."

And yes, I know this is a pain but keep the seat down. A further deflection away.  Give out points to the kids for remembering to keep the lid down, they LOVE those little stars :)  Your husband you might not get through to, you'll just have to follow him around!!

Lastly, check the outside of the door.  It is often helpful to hang a mirror on the door but you have to check what it will reflect.  Will be be something pretty or the outside?  Or will it reflect another door?  Whenever you use a mirror you are intensifying the Energy of what it's reflecting so be careful with them.  And they MUST be bigger then your head.  If they are smaller, they will "cut off" your Aura, the Energy field around the body.

I think bathrooms have truly gotten a bad rap in Feng Shui.  They are more and more often being transformed into beautiful, spa like oasis which FEEL good.  Don't let the placement of one deter you from buying a home you love!  For every aspect of Feng Shui that may not be ideal, there is a way to correct it.

I am wondering if both the principle AND the corrections sound like they make sense?  Because Feng Shui DOES make sense :)  Feng Shui in Real Estate, Long Island, New York

What a blessing you are Carole to share your knowledge and expertise with us like this.  As it happens, my bathroom is in the back left corner of my home and money has been an issue since I've lived in the home.  I will be taking your advice very seriously.  Lid stays down, door stays closed, and the plant goes in tomorrow.  Any advice for a fairly large window that is almost directly across from front door?
Thank you for the post.  I look forward to your next one.  Many blessing to you and yours.

Good post. Thanks.

PS - you may want to check out the new "Feng Shui for Real Estate Group" that we set up earlier this past week. Have not had time to get any posts on it yet, but we hope that professionals such as yourself will find it and offer posts. ;-)

Is keeping money such as a change jar in the money area a good or bad idea?

Posted by Roberta Paul (Solid Source Realty, Inc.) almost 5 years ago

HI everyone, thank you for the comments.  Bob and Carolin, I just joined the group, thank you for creating it. Sheron, Thank you for your emails!  Roberta, I've been asked about the change jar before.  We want to see our money as accumulating and it's a wonderful idea if you're not "dipping" into it when you need some change.  So let it fill up and then bring it to cash it in.

It does not have to be in the wealth area, we have many ways to enhance weath and I've hardly started.  If you see money as ABUNDANCE in all areas, it can go anywhere.  If you add to it every day, wealth is a good place for it as you're watching your money grow rapidly.

I'll post more on Wealth soon, everyone likes that topic :)

Hey Carole

if I am doing this right, then I think my wealth area is my office and my computer which is the far left hand corner of the room

When you come in my house the bedrooms are to the left and the office is at the top left hand side. My bedroom is at the bottom left hand side and then not sure what my wealth corner would be, Hmmm, I would love to know because it could possibly be a bathroom or my husbands walk in closet. NOW IF THAT'S MY WEALTH CORNER, I AM IN TROUBLE, LOL

Carole,

I always love to read about your Feng Shui principles, and I think that most other AR members do as well!  Whether you believe in this or not, it is most certainly an interesting field.

I happen to subscribe to the beliefs of Feng Shui and have to say that since I've met you and learned how easy the principles are, I have never had better energy surrounding me!

Phyllis, if you walk into your house and you're office is in the back Left Hand Corner on the floor level, that is one of your wealth areas.  (and a great place for an office too, which of course draws in money).  On another level pretend you are at the entrance of that space and then look to the back left hand corner....If you google a Bagua off images and print it out, stand holding it with Career (middle front door) against your stomach....and every time YOU turn into a room, the bagua turns with you so that you are always entering through career.

It's difficult to describe online but I'll try in a post when I get to it.  Right now I have a workday in Queens tomorrow (unfortunately not near Flushing :(

Carole, I have some great news.  Since making the small changes you suggested to the money area of my home which happens to be the bathroom, things have taken a turn for the better.  Thank you so much for your valuable advice.

Val, thanks as always for your support.  And Julia, I'll certainly try to keep posting, I love writing.  Fred, there are MANY ways to attract good listings and have homes sell faster with principles and blessings but Feng Shui is SO involved and there are so many levels of it, those are the types of things that aren't possible to even put in a long blog about.....I'm sorry.  This is why I don't know how classes online can be effective, it takes one on one either in person or by phone.  But I will post other tips. Thank you for asking!

Hey Carole

I am still not getting it..The left hand corner of my house is hard to tell because I live in an L shaped ranch

When you enter my home and turn to the L, you go down a hallway, at the end of the hall is (picture a straight line) my bedroom, bathroom and my office. Which one would think it would be? Interesting principle because while I am successful at earning money, I always just have enough to pay bills and never extra.

Phyllis, if there's nothing behind your office, it's the Wealth area of the house which is wonderful!  If you're going to set up an office in your home, it's the best place to be!  There are ways to enhance any wealth area (a live, growing plant for one---peace lilies are my favorites because they deflect electo-magnetic fields is one and many other principles.  I'll post when I can about a simple way to cover your bills and get some EXTRA to have fun :)

Roberta, I'm sorry, I must have missed your question.  If your front door is in direct alignment with your back door, it means good "chi" is flowing in and right back out again.  Something by the back door such as a plant (yes, I know, we LOVE plants as they are Energy) and a crystal will keep the money and fortune from the front door IN

Hope this helps :)

Carole,

I've wondered about the set up of my home for a while.  It's a rectangular ranch home, BUT, the back left 'corner' of my house is actually a covered patio.  So, does it matter if the wealth corner is outside the actual house?  Someone else told me that this means the wealth section is missing!  I wish you were closer - I'd love to have a home consultation with you!

Melissa, give me a ring, I'll go over some things you can do inside and out!  I'm usually home in the evenings and you're more then welcome to call.

Carole...I just started learning about Feng Shui last Fall and I'm in trouble. My bathroom is located in my health and my staging props are being stored in my wealth area. I am working on a better solution...soon I hope!

Teresa, the area of Health is in the center of your home, is that where your bathroom is?  You, too, are welcome to give me a call to go over those two areas as I would be happy to give you some suggestions.

When you are figuring the center of the home. Do you count the att'd garage that is used for storage?  We do not put our car in the garage, because there is no room.
Posted by Hariatma over 4 years ago
Hi, that is a good question and there is still controversy over it today.  I personally do not count the garage because although it is attached, it is UNUSED space.
