What Memories are YOU Going to LIVE ON?

What Memories are YOU Going to Live On?

A New York Feng Shui Consultant's MEMORIES.

I call them "Pearls of Wisdom."  Those words someone will say to you that have a profound impact on you; you never forget them.

Many years ago a very special Aunt told me something very simple and very true:

"Be careful of the memories you make" she said, "That is what you live off in the future."

I read so many posts here on Activerain and am also surrounded by all the doom and gloom in the news.  Many here try to stay upbeat but find it's a losing battle in this economy.  It's one of the most difficult things to do to change the way you THINK-and it's also one of the most important.

Thinking New York Feng Shui Consultant Carole Provenzale

Many of my Feng Shui clients have hit hard times and don't know how to get out of their fears.  It's not easy---it takes work and determination and a very long time.  It is also a true case of where persistence pays off.  You have to "catch" each negative thought and turn it into a positive.

For some it takes years but those who do this consistently start to see that after a while, their thoughts AUTOMATICALLY begin to shift on their own.  EACH thought has a counter-thought---and your job is to find it.

Difficult times Feng Shui Consultant New York

Think you can't do it?  Don't be so sure.  It was so many years ago that I read the book "You can't afford the Luxury of a Negative Thought" and it resonated with me.  You become what you think.  You reach goals that you believe you can.  Letting those doubts creep in and take over is a huge mistake.  IT IS DURING THE DIFFICULT TIMES THAT YOU MUST STRETCH AND GROW.  And push yourself beyond what you thought your limits were.

This is, no doubt, a very difficult time for many; there is, unfortunately, very little you can do to change the circumstances.  The one thing you CAN do is change your attitude.

Don't look back in regret.

I, for one, want to look back at these days and remember the GOOD.  What memories are YOU creating to live on in YOUR future?

Regrets

Hi Carole... That attitude will take you a long way. Only the positive will survive. As for me, I'll continue to make lemonade out of lemons.

Carole, being positive lies between the ears. Not easy to have good thoughts all the time but we can commit to it.

Oh girlfriend...this is sooooooooooo true and timely! I'm so tired of it all. I don't want to think about negative things, and I don't want to hang around negative people. Life is too short for all that. I want to uplift people and be around people who uplift others. YOU, my friend, are definitely on the list of uplifting people. ~GBU~

Carole--Drama takes time and energy. It is so much easier feeling and being positive. Those great aunt's and grandmother's had wonderful wisdom when we took the time to listen as you did. I fortunately live off of wonderful memories and try to create great memories for my family but like everyone else, have a few that are better forgotten too. Taking the time to make wonderful ones most often didn't involve money...just laughter and being with those I loved most. What a wonderful sentiment for this time of year!

Every now an then a negative thought will enter my mind but I quickly try to forget about it. This past year has been a difficult one to say the least but I have remained positive throughout and know I will be rewarded down the road.

Good morning Carole,

Memories are so important....I remember a friend once telling me that when he is old and on his death bed he wants to look back and regret the things he didn't do, not the things that he did do....to me this means to make each moment and each situation, no matter if it is good or bad, into the very best you possibly can. Then you will be able to say (like you and I recently talked about) that you did the very best you could at the time and I think then, the memories will take on a positive glow.

thanks for writing about this subject which is especially important this time of the year,

Jo

I agree with you.  You are what you 'think'.  Changing the negative takes practice but it can be done.

Carole- Your aunt was a wise woman.  You are so right about the negative thoughts.  They creep in and take many people over.  Yes, those people who stay positive do have to fight them, but we are so much better when we win that battle.

My secret is don't watch the news!  I hate the news it depresses me so I don't watch ~~  I don't want to know.  At Thanksgiving my Mom started talking about the economy and I said can we talk about something else!

Happy Birthday Girlfriend (looks like I missed it by 14 minutes!)! Staying positive is really not so hard to do. I like to get what I think of so I can't afford a bad thought.

Carole - Great post -- ATTITUDE is everything -- One of my favorite "pearls" is "the only easy day was yesterday" -- JE

Hi Carole...Great Timing for this post. Yes Positive Attitude helps and you are sooo correct when you say there are a lot of negative things going on. As my Mum used to say "people can change what they are thinking"

Everyone should read something positive everyday, like Zig Ziglar who by the has a great goal setting CD that is fun and easy to follow...

Cheers, thanks for sharing this motivational message, well done!

Carole- Even if the Real Estate market is not positive, I've found a lot to be thankful for this year in my personal life, which means a whole lot more than how many houses I sold.

Colleen, I'll join you!  We have many ways to look at things and need to change our thoughts.

Gary, It isn't, I agree but it's almost like training your brain to turn them around after a while...it does work but it's difficult.

Elizabeth, They will bring you down in a flash...if you allow them.  It's the people that are always negative that I too have to keep distance from.  GBU my dear friend.

Teri, I love those "gems" people  tell you that you never forget and that are really true!  I want too to create Good memories.

Bill, You will be rewarded.  It was (and is) a challanging year for many of us---and we can only do what we can.  Somehow we always survive and are better for it.

Jo, Your friend is very wise.  It IS the things we didn't try that I regret...at least I can say I TRIED the others (even if I fell).

Mel, It takes work but it's SO worth it.  After awhile you're sort of "programmed" to see the better side.

Kim, Sometimes we almost have to shield ourselves...not from the people having problems but those who are always negative.  I don't want to hear it every single time I speak to them, there must be SOME good in their life.

Tami, I give myself just a short time with news....I want to keep up but don't need to keep hearing it.   And I don't read the paper--I've already heard it.

Lizette, Thank you!  I was trying to keep it quiet--old age is setting in :)

Jason, I like your "pearl" -- and I'm going to remember it!  Thank you for sharing it.

Fred, I like your Mum.  I hardly remember Zig Zieglar but will look for that CD.

Linda, I had a year filled with challanges but I choose to remember the GOOD.  Glad you do as well!

Hi Carole...Being negatiave takes way too much effort and emotion.

Happiness comes much easier so that is where I like to spend my time.

Excellent post. I think that it really takes an awareness of the unrecognized negativity to be able to encourage and facilitate the positive.

Norman Vincent Peale's ol book - the Power of Positive thinking is still one of my all time favorite- your post reminded me of it Carole - you live it, despite what life hands us, we have to make the best of things and look for silver linings:)

Grace

If we can only do one thing in this lifetime, it must be to let our light shine... I think we knew the world was somewhat dark before we arrived---we came to bring some joy and gratitude, and that's an attitude. Thanks for your always inspirational post! And happy holidays to you!
