Feng Shui Question of the Week by Feng Shui Long Island & New York (Manhattan)
Whether it is my increased online presence due to Activerain or a heightened interest in Feng Shui (or a combination of BOTH!), I can't say. I CAN tell you that I receive many emails each week asking questions about Feng Shui.
I have always made it a practice to try and respond to each and every person who took the time to write but have been finding it a bit overwhelming lately. I thought of our own Katerina Gasset here on Activerain and a post that SHE began because she also was overwhelmed with questions.
Never one to steal an idea, I emailed my lovely friend to ask her if I would be able to post a "Feng Shui Question of the Week." Smart idea, Carole. It'll be good to see the questions and answers.
If you need a question, I'd ask why you pick one school to follow vs another. Most Americans seem to use the type of Feng Shui that uses the Bagua (I think it's called the Western School). But why that as opposed to the many others? I'm guessing it's an issue of simplicity.

What a great idea, Carole. I'm sure you will get lots of questions, as I have learned so much about Feng Shui from you the last year. I do agree the consumers are reading so hopefully they will start to raise their hand and ask more.

Carole--This is a great idea and others besides Katrina are doing posts similar to this. I suppose with all of the questions we receive, some of the answers just turn into blogs. I will be reading your Q&A posts as I enjoy learning about your experiences and Feng Shui ideas!

Kathy, You have a question a DAY? Wow, how do you do all that?? It's a lot of work. I know that Katerina could not get back to all her emails and she does a ? of the week....and thought it would be find for me to do a FS ? but once a week :)

Oh, Missy, they're asking :) I get emails through AR or just to my email account with questions and have tried to keep up---it's getting difficult if not impossible some days to answer people.
Joan, Goodness, back in 1996 almost no one knew what it was! I'm glad I followed my heart on this, it certainly has grown and will continue to.

Carole - awesome idea! We have a question:
Does Feng Shui have any principles regarding "smell"? I was just thinking about how smell affects your feelings about a place and that it is the first thing you notice when you enter a home, and was curious about the feng shui perspective.

What a great idea! I have one question- How do you get builders to believe in Feng Shui when they're designing/ building a house? I've had builders tell me that no 2 people can agree on that, so they just go ahead having the bed in the master bedroom face the bathroom & toilet, or better yet, out a window with a 6 foot high wood fence only 3 feet away! Seen them both in the last year- and guess what, those houses are still unsold!

Kevin & Monica, Wow, no one has ever asked that question...there was nothing that I recall by ANY of the masters regarding smells. I don't remember any of them bringing that up. I did take some classes in aromatherapy but there is nothing I am aware of from a Feng Shui perspective.
Linda, Most builders are not on board yet I'm sorry to say because many of their potential clients ARE. I have one client I am helping with a new construction and believe me, this builder is listening! I think it will take time but I do think they will "get it" eventually...if they want to sell.
Gayle, Check the areas of wealth in your home--AND the outside. I did a post on it not long ago. There are many ideas that I've posted (and will again) to help with money issues.
