Central Park New York. Who Doesn't Love it? The Complete Guide to Central Park and Central Park Zoo For those that have visited I always find they want to go back; for those who haven't yet seen it, it's an absolute treasure! The "Gem of New York City." As a Manhattan Feng Shui Consultant I spend a lot of time in the Park because I love it--and you never know WHAT you're going to find.
They are ALL highly rated in Zagats and a trip to New York City has to include at least one of these on your itinerary. ZAGAT: Ratings & Reviews for New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco ...
Inside most Gems is another treasure and Central Park has one of mine-A Manhattan legendary restaurant called "Tavern on the Green." Tavern On The Green The ambiance is pure elegance and though it's difficult to get in I've found that when you act like you know exactly where you're going somehow you manage to get there. David Blaine rubbished over breaks from
I wanted to share just a few pictures of the Entrance to Tavern on the Green as it remains one of my favorites in Manhattan right up there with The Rainbow Room with it's amazing orchestra and revolving dance floor (not to mention the VIEWS) and The Supper Club where they had the best dancers in SWING; if you stayed until midnight, the "Swing Kids" would come in all dressed from head to spats!, They are ALL pure elegance and fun!
This post goes up tonight spurred by another post I caught from a friend of mine, Fernando Rosado, Home Stager Extrodinaire. who was having a difficult time doing Home Staging full time. For those that don't know, he was a CHEF at Tavern on the Green! He had some wonderful news to share-and Fernando, in case you're "homesick" I thought you might enjoy this:

When you're done, your chariot awaits :)
Quite a few movies were filmed there; "It's My Turn" with Jill Clayburgh and Michael Douglas comes to mind with the lovely soundtrack by Diana Ross--A New Yorker herself!

Ah what memories Carole.....Part of our movie :) was filmed there as Jeff proposed to me on Sweetest day in Central Park and we had dinner at Tavern on the Green and even met George Steinbrener LOL who was also dining there that evening :) I love NY
Sincerely,
Grace
Wow! I love your pictures. I sure do miss those carriage rides in Central Park.
Terrific pics, Carole! Thank you.
Carole- WoW, what a small world! Fernando was a chef at Tavern on the Green there, well, one of my son's is a chef at Jenny Oz's Tavern on the Green in Wellington and my other son is the sous chef! WOW! We know all the people at Tavern like Mike Disedario and others. Thanks for sharing those awesome photos. Jen brought some of the tiffanys down from her Russian Tea House up there for the location here.
Carole, I love the interior of this place with the colors in the chandeliers and the stained glass. Beautiful.
Ok now you just made one of my eyes shed a tear! I always loved those Tiffany lamps that he made specALLY FOR "THE tAVERN" i Remember meeting Robert Redford , We catered a movie wrap cast party for Warren Beatty.Carol, y friend, thank you for this. Im printing this one! Its a keeper
Oh Carole - love the photos - they're gorgeous..........stained glass, tiffanies.......but I don't know if I could want to go to New York more then I already do!
I have never experienced it firsthand, but your photos do make a person want to go exploring. I imagine that it has a certain...flavor...that is hard to match. GBU, Carole!
Carole--I love Tavern on the Green! Every trip to NYC included a visit and a drink here. Part of the experience. Lovely pictures!
Hi Carole,
I sold a house to one of the assistant chefs from TOG several years back. I have never been but hear it is fabulous.
Your post brought back some wonderful memories of a couple of my trips to New York and Central Park. I didn't go to Tavern on the Green, but I did get one of those wonderful carriage rides -- it was a beautiful night and a great experience.
Carole- Great pictures. Your posts always make me want to take a trip to New York!!!!!
Grace, I remember, what a guy your husband is! Now he needs to bring you back to New York and I'll meet you there at Tavern on the Green! You can give him my request :)
Lizette, They now have carriage rides by people, it is SO much fun! A person actually drives them like a bicycle and you can get to areas of the park that you couldn't with the horses.
Marie, You're welcome. They came out well despite the low light.
Katerina, Small world isn't it? Fernando is now close to you as well in Florida! With two sons that are chefs you must eat well :) I had forgotten about the Russian Tea Room, I went there once...for brunch and it was wonderful!
Gary, The place is lovely---and a New York Gem right in the Park. I love even visiting it.....
Fernando, I thought you would like to see your old "hangout." It is just gorgeous--I can't think how much fun that would have been to serve some of the stars although I know they eat there often!
Liz, You would love New York. For all the bad things people say about it I really think there is no place like it in the world!
Elizabeth, New York certainly has flavor, it is one fun city and definitely 'the City that never sleeps.' You can go out at 3am on the weekends and find all kinds of things going on and restaurants are open :)
Teri, It is a lovely place. Now when you come back you should go to the Rainbow Room....it's spectacular and another place you don't know who you'll run into :)
Paddy, You should have kept in contact :)! He may have invited you for dinner one day--wouldn't that have been worth the trip?
Joan, Central Park is magical to me as well....I could wander through there for hours and always see parts of it that I've missed.
Kim, Maybe next Spring. New York is beautiful in the Spring and the first warm day we have that's where I'm headed!
Carole, thanks for bringing me "inside"- I've always been curious, and never been there!
I have always heard the name and always imagined a "swanky and elegant" sort of place. I LOVE ALL THAT STAINED GLASS! I especially love what looks like a peacock. That is so beautiful. I did take one of those charriot rides though! :o)
Laurie, If you'd just take the train to Farmingdale we can visit a 'hot' spot or two in New York....think of it as a mini vacation :)
Cristal, I'm glad you got to see at least some of it, then! I can't imagine what you'd say about the Rainbow Room! It won't be on my 'menu' until next year though I may visit Sardi's -- another landmark restaurant!
I have of course heard it mentioned in many movies and TV shows, though I have never been. I love all the beautiful stained glass. Your photos are wonderful.
LOL Carole - I will tell him - funny you should mention that I just told him we should plan such a trip for our next anniversary :)
Sincerely,
Grace
Carole - Great localism post, now I will have to tell my husband I am due for a weekend stay in the city. It has been a while since I have gone to Central Park.
Have a great weekend.
There's nothing quite like Central Park on a nice day.
It doesn't matter what the season is, there's always something happening there.
I love sitting at the Columbus Circle entrance and watching all the people.
I love Sitting at the John Lennon memorial and seeing an impromptu band playing Beatles tunes.
And I love the beautiful peaceful setting in the middle of the madness known as Manhattan!
I had lunch at Taverm on the Green when I visited. I just love Manhattan and love Central Park! What a wonderful experience.
Hi Carole,
Great photo's love the stain glass! I really must get there soon!!
Rich, It is SO pretty....I would love to see the "Private Party" room they have :)
Grace, It would be wonderful memoies for you both, I'm sure--and I'll meet you for coffee after :)
Jennifer, Now is a nice time to go...before it gets too cold--and there is ALWAYS something going on :)
Craig, You're certainly sound like a person who loves New York.....I love the city as well---all parts of it and go in often to enjoy it!
Tracy, It is a lovely restaurant....in a gorgeous setting. I am going to try the Boathouse Restaurant before it gets too cold!
Trace, You would love New York City, I know it! There is always something to do and see and it's NEVER boring :)
Carole: I just can't get enough of the pictures you make. I feel like I'm in New York everytime and I am falling in love with your great city.
