Long Island Houses SPEAK in Feng Shui
As a Feng Shui Consultant on Long Island and New York City, I recently was called to a client's home in the lovely Long Island town of Oyster Bay New York. I am called to work there often-and I play there as well! A New York Consultant's Choice for Reconnecting with Nature by Feng Shui Long Island & New York City
This particular Feng Shui Client had not revealed much information to me over the phone, although I had asked. She just said she had an interest in Feng Shui and wanted a consultation. When I arrived at her home that day, I was prepared to ask her some questions and TEACH the principles and topics of Feng Shui so she would be able to apply it to her office space without having to call me twice. I make it a point to teach my clients Feng Shui in an understandable manner so they can understand the Feng Shui consultation and be able to imploy Feng Shui into other spaces.
She had a different idea in mind; this has actually happened to me before and I find it interesting to have a client ask me to "Read their Home" from a Feng Shui Perspective. She didn't want to give out any information, she wanted to ask ME to see if I could see the issues in her life.
Homes and Businesses DO "Speak." They tell us a lot about the person and their families and we can look at all areas of their lives and see with what I call Feng Shui Eyes where things in their lives might not be doing as well as they can be. We can see where the energy is blocked, we can see unadressed areas, we can see much more in Feng Shui then they would ever expect.
Starting with the exterior, I realized she had a garage door and was not using her Front Door (The Mouth of Chi). If you've read some of my other posts, you'll see why I believe the front door is so important: Are You Blocking Your own CHI? Shame on you ...
I also noticed her relationship area was bare. It had a squared off fence but nothing in it-it was, in fact, EMPTY. Her money corner showed me that while they were most likely doing well enough, there didn't seem to be much money for the "extras" they wanted. It had a small plant but not an evergreen, so it was likely from a Feng Shui perspective that they money had up and down times.
Inside the house the only area I saw that had some heavy clutter was directly in the Center of the home. We are careful about the CENTER of our spaces, it relates to health. She did not have a home office or it would have been interesting to evaluate that on it's own....something we always spend a great deal of time on if you make some/part or ALL of your money from home.

So how does a Feng Shui Consultant reveal her findings? Tactfully, for sure (which is always a challenge for Sagittarians who suffer significantly from "hoof in mouth" disease). The way I put it was relatively simple: From a FENG SHUI CONSULTANT'S eyes, her relationship wasn't the best it could be....and she admitted that was true. I showed her the emptiness of her areas inside and out and I could see it struck a nerve.
Financial issues: Well, they had enough to pay the bills but not enough for the other things in life they wanted. She told me they'd been discussing a long awaited vacation but had decided they just couldn't afford it. And health: if there was someone in the house either not feeling at their best or "stuck." Clutter can relate to health issues especially when found in their health area. Her children had been coming down with unusual illnesses quite frequently, she told me. Pointing things out to her from a Feng Shui Consultant's opinion, every one of the topics I had addressed were true.
And while she was more then a bit surprised, I explained how her surrounding reflected her life and what was going on in it. Then SHE was able to see her home from a Feng Shui Perspective. Houses, Buildings, Apartments, Businesses and Corporations all do "Speak." And when you listen to what they're telling you, you can make changes and help to remedy a situation. It was definitely a fun Feng Shui Challenge in the lovely town of Oyster Bay Long Island New York.

Carole, you are making me feel guilty with the mouth of Chi and the missing Evergreen in the back left corner. I'm listening but I am not acting. Is coming in through the garage door really such a bad thing? My front door steps lead from high up down to the sidewalk, that is why we never use the front door hardly.
Carole- Sounds like she called you wanting you to tell her the issues but then was somewhat surprised that you could :) I think many of us call in the experts, but so often don't listen. I know I just caught myself giving excuses to a stager......yep, caught myself, and realized I called them, so I better listen :)
So, how did this end?
Carole, I so love reading your blog. What a wonderful experience this must have been for your client! You are awesome and it's so enjoyable to read your stories and interpretations!!
Caorle
What an excelenet post. I hope you are doing well
Sincerely
Tom BRaatz
I never cease to be amazed at the many things revealed in Feng Shui.
Carole...Did she ask you about changes?
Did you ever look at the pictures of my house? I would love to kow if there is anything you can see that will help my house sell faster if I make changes!
Carole, I always get so much out of your posts. It is so interesting. This particular case almost sounds like fortune telling, only better because she can make the changes to change her life. It is so great!
Hi Carole, It's wonderful to see how you combine your knowledge and experience as a Feng Shui professional with your intuitive abilities. It's awesome how you can help your clients... well, as long as they follow your instructions and make the recommended changes.
Carole: There's no denying that you are very good at what you do. I love the way you care so much about your clients.
Carole, I would be scared to have you read my home. I use the garage door almost exclusively. Yikes! My mail clutter drives me nuts. I save it because I need to shred it so my identity doesn't get stolen. I have a clutter room - or two. I am always remodeling. This confirms it, I am a disaster. Great post, I need to learn more about Feng shui.
Carole--You truly amaze me! You have made me into a Feng Shui believer...I was skeptical before reading your posts but over and over again you seem to bring the Feng Shui perspective into people's lifes and read or change them...I am no longer a skeptic but believe that a Feng Shui expert like yourself is necessary to explain the principles to get the full benefits. Good work!
I am sure your client was relieved to have some direction to help make improvements in her life.
Carole, is there a way for me to send you photos that you could read for me? My house is "screaming" I'm gonna hurt ya...but I don't know how to address it. Is this something you would do for a fee? I don't think you would want to fly to Texas...but photos could work couldn't they?
I respect and admire what you do and the total belief system you honor. Just think about it.

Gary, Don't feel guilty. If you truly can't go in and out of it OPEN it...several times a day. Let the "outside IN" and along with it the new, good energy! Did you read Kathy's post "Carole, Funky Feng Shui?" I can't get to the link right now but she sure had some good things come in :)
Kathy, It ended with her totally believing in Feng Shui because she could see it herself, when pointed out through my eyes...and is now making some much needed changes. A follow up, though, told me that her relationship with her partner was much better so she's definitely on the right path.
Kate, All spaces do speak. My house was crying to be restored after all these years and it's finally getting done!
Tom, Thank you, I am doing very well....and hope you are as well!
Pam, To be honest with you, neither do I! I couldn't have asked for a better "job."
Joan, Yes, I absolutely gave her the changes to make...she's doing them and things are better. I don't remember you posting a picture of your house, why not put up a post??
Cristal, You're always so upbeat- I love it! She could see the way her house related to her life and is definitely making the recommended changes.
Marzena, She definitely is. I think sometimes people are testing me :) But she saw her home through another perspective and could see why she needed to change things.
Donna, Same as you, many become actual FRIENDS. I meet them to eat or have even been invited to weddings....they truly are wonderful people.
Audrey, I'm pretty strict on Front Doors....I just downloaded Google Toolbar and it's changed my settings or I'd post Kathy Passarette's post on "Funky Feng Shui." I loved what happened to her when she started to use the front door. BTW, I am remodeling....and running for the hills while it is being done :)!
Teri, I can almost guarantee you that you will get a client who wants to see a home with "good" Feng Shui. Look at Cynthia, she just got a client who wants Vastu (Indian Feng Shui). Especially with people buying all over the country from other lands and a wider belief in Feng Shui then ever.
Rich, She was....when she saw it herself from another perspective. And she's making changes.
Deb, Your home is not going to "hurt" you. But I do Feng Shui Consultations at a distance all the time.....and yes, it's through pictures (many pictures :). Just call or email me if you're interested--or just to talk for that matter!
Carole--From the time I started reading your blog I started noting the 'energy' in certain homes...some don't feel right. I'd bet someone with your knowledge would understand it much better....You should post about how Feng Shui affects a vacant home. (Or have you done this already?) There are so many out there now. Not all are foreclosures either. Those homes always feel weird...unless properly staged of course! :)
Sagittarian huh? No wonder you enjoy this blogging so much! :)
I went through a really bad time in my life many many years ago and came to the realization I needed to make some changes. I got into gardening and was struck by a comment a friend made to me. She said, "It's nice to see you finally putting something living back into your life." She was right. I was stuck in depression at the time and couldn't see through the darkness.
Of course, someone like yourself could have seen it a mile away!
Carole, you are too cute. LOL. I will call you soon. Later in the rain~Deb
Carole , You have so much talent and knowledge...not to mention being extremely intuitive. No wonder you're so very good at what you do! I wonder how I missed reading this post? I think I've been on the go so much lately that I'm missing many good posts.
Jo
Hi Carole - This post reminded me that I wanted to write and ask you a question...do you ever have a strong physical reaction to a room or space? I have been staging for a long time; sometimes I get overwhelmed by the energy I feel. I'll have to leave the room for a while and come back in order to complete what I'm doing. People think I'm nuts!
I really enjoy reading your blog, please keep the posts coming!
Carole this is fascinating... Homes and Businesses DO "Speak." It is so true! I have no background or knowledge of Feng Shui but my GUT INSTINCT tell me so much when I step in someones home.
I used to entertain myself looking over the windows - in my evenings walking - in peoples homes... lights were up and could see their home interior... It was fascinating to go from one home to the next and read that home energy. I could figure out (feeling) their life style, age, health even their profession ... Instinctively speaking! I know it was an indiscretion but I could not take my eyes off their windows -:)
