A (Manhattan) New York Feng Shui Consultant Says Live WITHOUT Fear!
As a Feng Shui Consultant on both Long Island and in New York City, I do often get contacts from those wishing a Feng Shui Consultation at a distance. Several months ago I worked with a lovely client in California and when she sent me the photos of her home, I saw many things I would like to change from a Feng Shui Perspective.
Many Feng Shui clients have complete trust in me and I am always grateful for that. It allows me to do the best possible job I can for them. One recent client in Downtown New York City was very reluctant to make the changes I was suggesting to her but she listened with what I had to say and we redid her room into a complete makeover. She absolutely LOVES the way it "FEELS" now and credits me for it. It's not me, it's my client's ability to trust in what I have to say looking at things from Feng Shui Eyes

Even though the miles separated us from New York to California, this client also was open and receptive to my feelings of Feng Shui in her home. We changed many objects and she was able to "let go" of much of the heavy furniture that I felt was keeping her "stuck." I am always careful to speak carefully, some of these objects may be things they love. As it turns out, the very things I was focused on that I felt needed to go were the things left over from her divorce.
"They DON'T feel good" she told me one day. And although money was a concern, she let them go. We made many, many changes both inside and outside her home and a call from her the other night was a Feng Shui Consultants' dream call:
She told me that in the last few months her life (and that of her child) had drastically changed for the better. Among the changes: Money has started to flow in from different sources, her son has radically improved in ALL areas of his life, she's interviewing for the "perfect" job, she's met someone who she is very excited about and Helpful People "are everywhere."
Such a radical difference that she almost can't believe it. She asked me a question and I picked up just a touch of Fear---"Things are SO good, can they possibly STAY this way"?
Not if you have doubts I told her. She got where she is today through hard work on her own part and changing her thoughts-she allowed herself to be open to all the new energy. It's difficult for some people to believe that what surrounds you can have such an impact on your life-difficult unless you've experienced it. And then you are forever a believer in Feng Shui. Don't let the FEAR creep in, your THOUGHTS create Energy. Your Intentions create Energy. It's difficult (if not downright impossible) to stay in an "UP" mode all the time but with conscious effort, you CAN change your thoughts, your Intentions and the Energy.

Wow, I love it! You can do all that in a picture? I am moving next month and maybe I should send you pictures of the house. I already know what changes I want to make but maybe you should see. How do you charge? I am very interested!
It seems to me that we are very influenced by the things we choose to keep around us and by the arrangement of those things. Our created environment is an outward manifestation of both our known and unknown self. It often takes a professional, like you, to point out what our outside world is reflecting about who we are. Carole ~ I know first hand the difference it does when you have things around you that really block your energy and creativity. I continue to work on improving that. I know as I work with my clients, they are amazed when we either do Redesigns or change the color and there home and the result is taking all of the stuff that they had almost blocking them from so much energy and life around them. Glad to hear you were able to help your client. That is wonderful. Keep up the great work!!

It is so important to understand the connection between our thoughts and how changing our thoughts can change everything. Also, understanding the "fears" that may hold us back or keep us from moving forward. Letting go is also another interesting point you make. Sometimes we cling onto things that we think are bringing us "safety" when it is exactly those things we need to release to move on.
Hi Carole, fear holds us prisoners of the current situation. The more we allow fear thoughts to linger, the more fear expands and creeps up into many areas of life. You were right advising your client that her fear will interfere with the current positive energy flow. She needs to trust that recent positive events are here to stay and that she can maintain a positive direction in her life.

Carole, This is a great post. Many times I thought about that... I grow up in a household where we all were welcomed to change our rooms, colors, furnitures, position of them in the house... and everytime I feld the difference. It was like coming into a new house! Getting rid of the old energy, refreshing the decor, using the right burning insences creates a new world... You're so right about that!

I have to say though I think you are not giving yourself the credit you deserve when you say,"it's not me,it's my clients ability to trust" It is you Carole, you are the kind of person that is able to bring out in your client and others the ability to believe and therefore trust.
This is a fascinating post. It truly is amazing how your insight and their willingness to change can make such a difference in someone's life. I am also interested to read that you can work long-distance with photos...I'll keep that in mind!

Sally, We absolutely do....and that changes the energy and that changes the things that come our way! I was so saddened to read about the precious turtle in Hawaii and do hope they find the person or people responsible for it.

Carole, to cool that the CA client has had such wonderful changes in her life. Positive thinking is a wonderful thing but can also get clouded with obstacles.

Irene, I love redesign too....I absolutely LOVE shopping in a person's space, pulling it all together and they don't have to spend a dime. My clients too are abasolutely amazed at the difference and the energy enhancements we use are wonderful too. The energy is really fabulous.

Jo, She has had so many positive things and I don't want to go into detail here because some are private. But everyone who comes into her house feels it....and loves it. She just referred a client to me.
Joan, You brought up all excellent points. It's true that deep down some people are afraid of change, even if they are not living a happy life....others embrace it. She knew she needed change and said this consultation was finally a gift to herself.
Marzena, It's the old fears creeping back in, I think it happens to most of us at one time or another. I remembered a personal story which I shared with her that relates to what she's feeling and she understood and let go of the fear again.
Laurie, It's sad to me there are so many misconceptions about it....it's not really difficult to understand and it's not expensive. (and I can make a list of the misconceptions :)
Arina, You were very fortunate, so was I. My parents let me decorate my own room from the time I can remember and I LOVED being in there! It was not a color I would love now (lavender walls, purple rug) but I did back then :)
Trace, I have clients that are open to changing this....and a few that aren't. This woman worked with me completely, she was able to see things through MY eyes and understand the reasons why. I've had a few that won't take suggestions or alternate suggestions---and things stay the same. It is wonderful to work together as a team.
Diane, That is exactly it, their williness to change. Sometimes it's just minor things and others many things need changing or rearranging....but if they're willing and open to the suggestions, they find wonderful things come their way.
Duane, I think it was only a short relapse into her old way of thinking. She was very positive again when we were done talking.
Donna, I have had so many "jobs" over the years and some I liked...until I learned them. In this career you can never stop learning.
Carole!! I just have to tell you, since I started making small changes in that financial corner of my yard, I've already seen some results! I'd really like to have a conversation about working together to enhance some other corners needing attention...I'm still doing this up-and-down yo-yo thing...
Carole, I agree with our intentions and attitude we can change our energy and squash fear. It is very powerful to be focused on the positive.
Loretta, It's not so much the changes (although they definitely help), it's the Intention you put behind them. I know people don't believe in Feng Shui until they try it....and see it works. You're welcome to call me anytime.
Gary, Yep, just keep turning them back to the positive. It takes some practice and then someday it just happens :) They start going that way....right to the good things.
