Feng Shui in New York Baseball? You better Believe it!
As a Feng Shui Consultant in New York City and Long Island, it was interesting for me to read that a reporter with an interest in Feng Shui had called a Consultant to both Shea and Yankee Stadiums, both being torn down this year to have new ones built, to evaluate them. I will be posting her thoughts on her site visits to the new stadiums being built soon to see what her choice is for the "winners" of New York.
Personally, I am going to miss the "old" Shea Stadium. I've attended both games and a concert there and my son Adam has scooped some tickets to what is being called "The Final Play at Shea." A host of stars and well known people have appeared there over the years including a sold out performance by the Beatles in August, 1965 with an encore performance in 1966. This record was only broken by none other then Led Zepplin, performing there in 1973---until now. Our own Long Islander Piano Man himself, Billy Joel, has been chosen to do the final shows at Shea. The original final show as slated for Wednesday, the 16th but tickets were added for an additional show on Friday, July 18th. I do believe he's in a New York State of Mind.
The new site, situated on the old parking lot will be called Citi Field is estimated to hold 42,500 fans and at a cost of 620 million dollars. Gratefully, the old stadium will be dismantled (there are some valuable things in there!) rather than imploded. Let's hope the New York Mets step up to the plate....literally!

Great post about dismantling Shea and Billy Joel playing a final concert there Carole. I've flown over that stadium many a time when coming into LaGuardia. It will be interesting that post about the Feng Shui consultant on the two New York baseball parks. Yankee Stadium is so historic too in the Bronx (the house that Ruth built). Things change. Everyone wants new and modern. Our new Cowboys Stadium being built in Arlington mainly for more luxury boxes will open in 2009 and is being considered a "wonder of the world" in terms of sports complexes.
Wow - that's pretty cool! I will be interested to see what the consultant says! As for the video - well, it just doesn't get much better than that!
That's smart that they are bringing in someone from the beginning! Billy Joel is a favorite of mine too!
Carole, it's sad that all good things have to come to an end, but in the name of safety and new architectural design I'm sure they want to keep up with the Jones.
I hadn't realized that Shea Stadium was being dismantled. As a life long Californian and die hard Dodger fan I don't follow New York teams. I so love how you manage to bring local news to your blogs and tie it in so well.
It will be interesting to hear what the consultant says!
Hi Carole,
It's always sad to see the landmarks go but I'm happy to hear they are taking the time and effort to dismantle and preserve some of the historic things there. I'm not much of a baseball fan but I do enjoy Billy Joel.
How interesting- a Feng Shui field. What would your recommendations be, Carole?
Carole, Although I'm not familiar with either stadium, I have heard of them and it seems sad to see them go. I'm looking forward to hearing what the feng shui consultant had to say about them....
So are you going to the final show?
Jo
Hi Carole...Did you see the Billy Joel Concert ??? silly me you probably have seen him hundreds of times. Wow what an artist, and he gives so much back to New York with his benefit concerts.
I'd love to see one of his concerts some day too.
Too bad about the old stadiums, having said that the New Baseball Stadium inn Seattle is awesome, hopefully the new ones in New York will be Great too!
Great post, as always, keep them coming!
I actually think dismantling the old stadiums is rather sad...progress isn't always progressive!
It is always sad when things like this happen. I am glad to hear that they consulted Fung Shui Consultants!
Carole, LOL on trying to keep up with the Yankees, it is sad to see it go. Landmarks are just that.
If I am not mistaken the NY Giants are getting a new stadium this year too! While I do know that many believe places hold memories, the fans and the teams (along with some salvaged items) will be the repositories of them now. How much did it end up costing to get that Boston jesey out of the concrete at the new Yankee Stadium?!?
