Brooklyn New York Hidden Gem - Barbès

One of my 2019 new year's intentions is to attend more concerts and last night on December 30th, 2018 at Barbès in Brooklyn NY, momentum to that one intention has already taken place. Usually when in Brooklyn, I'm on business conducting Feng Shui Consultations, so it was great to be leisurely and enjoy the richness of the art community.

So, what makes Barbès so special? Its a bar and performance space for local and international musicians. And wow!! Are you in for treat with who preforms there! This hidden gem provides a very intimate platform for top performers to serenade the audience.

My husband and I had the great pleasure of seeing, meeting, and listening to Stephane Wrembel, the French and American vernacular musician. His playing falls into the general umbrella of Gypsy Swing, yet that does not even fully describe his abilities. To give a more recognizable sound, Wrembel scored the theme song to Woody Allen's "Midnight in Paris."

With all that said, if you happen to be resident of Brooklyn, Long Island, Queens, Manhattan, or any part of New York, OR you happen to be visiting from out-of-town, I strongly recommended you put Barbès on your list of placed to visit! And by the way, all performances are a $10 donation. Thirsty while visiting? No problem! The beer and liquor prices are also very reasonable. Again, this is a GEM in Brooklyn, NY.  To review the calender for upcoming performances (music, readings, and film screenings) visit: Barbès Calendar Schedule.

Good morning, Laura - not resolutions but intentions. A fine line perhaps but this carefully chosen distinction is meaningful.  May 2019 bring you continued enlightening moments, learning and joyous times.

Good morning Laura.  I've always enjoyed watching and listening to performers in smaller and more intimate places.  It's a wonderful experience.

Good morning Laura Cerrano ,

My granddaughter lives and works in Manhattan so will have to see if she has heard of Barbes.  Watching and listening to performers in smaller and more intimate places can be so much fun! I'll have to ask her if shes heard of it. Many blessings to you for a happy, healthy and prosperous 2019.
