A little Feng Shui in gorgeous Oyster Bay.
New York has it's share of beautiful places and there is nothing quite like the "Gold Coast" of Long Island in New York. The estates there are stunning as is the land. Many sit right on the water and the views are spectacular. Acres of the beautiful land have been preserved as The Planting Fields Arboretum and it's a spectacular place to visit, wander the grounds and for a Feng Shui Consultant, to reconnect with nature and some of the most spectacular flowers that bloom all Spring and Summer.
That was my idea in going there---I couldn't imagine why the traffic was so heavy but this IS Long Island and anything can happen...and usually does. A big principle of Feng Shui is to reconnect with nature and I try to do that often. I have a knack for running into unexpected things---like a worldwide competition Dog Show. Ok, another day for the Gardens, I thought. How often do you get to see these types of shows? For me, never.
There were, literally thousands of people with their trainers and beloved pets competing and it was quite a site to see. I thought I'd share some pictures with you of one very happy New York Feng Shui Consultant enjoying her day in Oyster Bay, New York.

I'm going to let this picture speak for itself :)

Sometimes I prefer to spend my days in Manhattan....but today was PERFECT for a Long Island visit to The Planting Fields in lovely Oyster Bay, New York.

There used to be a dog show run at the same time as our horse show - pretty wild and not a great idea for those with skittish horses. We have lots of dogs so our horses weren't bothered a bit.
Carole.... I am not big on dog shows, even when they show them on ESPN... the nerve... lol
Seriously though.... NY and NYC certainly have their share of beautiful places... thanks for sharing this.
Carole- I love your carefree spirit that can just stop and take photos on the whim as your heart fancies.
Hi Carole,
Happy Memorial Day and best wishes.
Tommy
Hello Carole,
You do have a knack for running into the most wonderful, unexpected things. What a fabulous day you must have had watching those beautiful dogs strut their stuff. Let's see what unexpected thing happened to me yesterday.....a closing that was supposed to happen this past Monday has run into some snags and won't close for another 10 days! Not quite as pleasant as your surprise. :0)
Carole,
I'm echoing Cynthia's comment about your knack of running into the unexpected and the wonderful.....nice pics of the dog show!
I love the names of the places in your vicinity and when I hear them, I often think back to the days long ago when they were inhabited by Natives and the European's came over and began to colonize there.
Jo
Carole~What a joy to see a dog show and as always, the pictures you have taken are fantastic. You are a multi talented women. Enjoy your day my friend!

Hi Carole...Looks like everyone was having a great weekend even the Dogs.

carole
Those are some nice looking dogs in your post.

Hi Carole,
Love the photo's! Looks like a lovely day on Oyster Bay. I love the photo of the Great Dane, I use have one back in the late 70's actually 2 one was fawn and the other brindle colored. They are wonderful loving dogs. Now I have my little Kiann!! I didn't realize they have a ICSB I guess if they can have it for humans....
What a fun thing to stumble upon! I have only been to one dog show and that was years ago! I love the pictures of the two afghan hounds! I used to be the only of a lovely afghan named Alley!
How fun ! I would have loved to be there with you and my little Pasha !
What a great site. The sheepdog and the afghan are lovely. . Your Blogs are always "Best In Show" Thanks for sharing Carole
Carole, I just loved the pictures. Yes, the Canine ... Bank..., who knew?!
Looked like an awesome day for this event carole.....Our Buddy - who goes for car rides with us sometimes - would love running into something like this - although he would bark excitedly and distract the contestants LOL
Sincerely,
Grace
Carole - that's awesome! Us dog lovers just love being around them - even if you can't pet them and play. LOL Glad you got to enjoy the day. Looks like it was beautiful weather for it!
What a great day. Glad that you made it to the dog show. I love being around nature and pets -- they are so healing!
I have to admit it. I have never heard before of the International Canine Semen Bank. Live and learn.
Kathleen, I had never seen one, it was a perfect day to go! I really enjoyed watching it.
Jeff, This is a beautiful place and the show was fun (and they let us play with the dogs when they were done competing :)
Katerina, No one minded, they were all so nice. I wasn't expecting the show so the things I was going to do there I will do another day :)
Tommy, Thank you, I hope you have a wonderful Memorial day as well!
Cynthia, I'm sorry to hear that---but you do have a good week to look forward to. This is why I don't plan things, you never know what's going to come up :)
Jo, I'm a huge animal lover anyway, this was a real treat....I DO run into the most unusual things; if I had known it was going to be there I might have made plans to go but this was much more fun!
Julie, Thank you, it was both fun and interesting....watching the judges checking the dogs and seeing them getting "touch ups." Very cute :)
Teri, You're welcome, I thought all the other animal lovers would enjoy it.
Kathy, Wasn't that odd? I was surprised to see it. But it was a great show and I did speak to some handlers which was really interesting.
Fred, I don't know anything about Photo bucket....I will look into it when I have time. Long Island is really beautiful most of the year, the winters are a bit tough to take!
Tom, The dogs were beautiful....I have a whole album of them in my pictures :)
Trace, Those great danes were so majestic. And BIG--bigger then I am but I did pet one and they were so sweet.
Rich, I love your shot of Alley! The afgans were gorgeous and I spoke at length to one of the handlers who was nice enough to let me play with her precious dog.
Fernando, That was cute, Best in Show :) I had a blast, I have a feeling you would have loved it as well.
Marzena, Certainly not I :) I was surprised to see it...REALLY surprised!
Grace, They had the best behaved dogs I've ever seen---I sure wish mine were like that! Your Buddy looks like a treasure!
Carol, At least the sun was out, it's been Cold and rainy here. They did let me play with the dogs and many people who went to watch also brought their pets---it was so nice.
Joan, I went there for the nature but was too caught up in this show....next time I will stop and smell ALL the flowers :)
Rosario, I learned...I'd never heard of it either but apparently it's popular :)
Hi Carole...I just love watching dog shows..even on TV.
Why aren't you in the city for Fleet Week?I bet there is a lot to see!LOL
I love dog shows and this one sounded like great fun. Your life is so fascinating and different being a NY City girl. It is always fun to read your posts!
Fernando, Your little Pasha looks like a sweetheart, I have several pet loves of my own :)
Joan, I was in the city today on a consultation...and went down to the Seaport where I figured they'd be...they weren't :( But it was a wonderful consult and a nice day anyway!
Diane, It's funny I never thought of myself as a City girl since I live on the Island but I guess I am because I love it so much!
