Feng Shui "LUCK" - A New York Feng Shui Consultant's View
Demystifying Feng Shui is never an easy task...particularly since many practitioners perceive thing differently. It is what makes each Consultant unique---and it is important that you find the one that you are most "in tune" with.
There are Three "Lucks" in Feng Shui:
Heaven Luck

Heaven Luck are the Stars we were born under...it is Astrology, whether you practice or use Western or Chinese methods. We don't have control over this "Luck" portion, it is pre-destined for us. Some people are very fortuitous in having been born at a time that is well aspected for much, if not all of their lives. Others are not as fortunate and seem to encounter struggles and difficulties along the way. These, I believe, are the lesions we must go through to learn what we are lacking in our lives. Hopefully, they are learned quickly!
Earth Luck
Earth Luck is FENG SHUI. It is the "Luck" that is in our surroundings and something we DO have control over. It takes into account creating an environment that is peaceful and harmonious to help us through the difficult periods when our Heaven Luck is difficult. By making not only our Homes but our Businesses and Offices a sanctuary, it will assist you in benefiting from ALL areas of your life: Better health, increased wealth, new or improved careers, find or strengthen a relationship and bringing in more and more "Helpful People," a critical area of the Bagua (A life station may of Feng Shui).
Human or Mankind Luck
Very simply, Mankind Luck is the way we choose to live our lives, something we have total control over. When you think about your actions, your thoughts, your INTENTIONS, and basically just living a Good Life by treating others well and "Doing the RIGHT thing." This is a powerful aspect of Feng Shui, something not commonly thought of. Many Feng Shui Consultants feel it is important to sustain the Law of Attraction in your life to bring back the Positive. We limit or avoid completely negative people and negative situations in life and keep our thoughts positive. We look for the Blessings in life that we have been given instead of focusing on the negative. Think about Visualizing what you would like and using positive affirmation and the pure power of your Attitude.
It's nice to know we have control over two of the three Lucks in Feng Shui. Knowledge is POWER-and it's nice to know we can often turn our own Luck around!

And we only have control over self.... and so the reason for earth and humankind luck....so WE have the power to change what we can. :)
I really liked this one Carole. Treating others well (handing out the good) surely brings back the same. No matter what we treat others with respect and caring and there will be wonderful luck to befall us.
Interesting, Carole. I got a call today for a buyer who practices feng shui and will need to send the listings to his spiritual advisor to get advice on buying the house. That is a new one for me.
Can we get some Feng Shui on the economy? We need to get things back in balance. Perhaps if the middle east was a little more to the west...
Thank you Carole, I needed this advice after my last year. (Not so good) But I am concentrating on being a good person no matter what happens along the way. I should check in with you more often. By the way, I have always felt blessed for some reason because of my birth. I am an Aquarian, Feb 8, 1949. Am I right? Thank you for a timely post!
Carole....are there any of the astrological signs that work better with the rest of Feng Shui?..
I am sure that I have been blessed by knowing you here on AR. That certainly is a very special luck to learn so much from you. There are a lot of challenges, but I hope to keep visualizing a positive and peaceful outcome.
Carole: With all the turmoil in the world, I am certainly big on the idea of being able to make a harmonious and peaceful environment (earth luck as described) which is something I am really glad I can control.
Hi Carol,
Another interesting look into the world of Feng Shui. I've never thought about astrology as being a kind of luck but it certainly is something beyond our control. It's the Earth luck that I struggle with...making and keeping my environment peaceful and harmonious. As for Mankind luck, I am totally onboard with this one because I truly believe that how we treat others have a tremendous effect on our lives.
Carole, you have probably heard how many don't believe in luck but your take on the three types is much more in depth. I agree with your assessment that there is some element of luck from pre-destination, surroundings, and making your own luck. For example how can you say there is no luck if you are born into poverty in a third world country vs. the United States? Many say we make our own luck when preparation meets opportunity. The surroundings idea to me is put yourself in an environment that gives you the best "chance." Kind of like high odds. Think of a football game with the crazy bounces of the ball and fumbles. A great team overcomes the crazy bounces. Thank you Carole. I learn more and more from you each day. You are a lucky charm for me!
Carole, very interesting points. I can appreciate the truth of what you are saying. There is no doubt that there are forces in our lives that we don't have any control over and others that we can direct the way we want. Taking responsibility for our lives is always a good thing. I guess that would be under "Humankind luck." It makes us stronger and it can actually lead to a more fulfilling life.
Forgot to say that I love the new look of your blog. It's very fresh and inviting!
very interesting Carole. I am drawn to this however don't know much about it. I was especially intrigued when I saw the little lady bug you have there. I have always, since childhood, been drawn to them. they land on me quite frequently and they remind me of both deceased father's of mine (my biological dad and my father in law) in fact, my husband just bought me for mother's day a lady bug cake! What more can you say about them? I'm fascinated!
Carole ! What a great lesson this is in Feng-Shui ! I knew it, we create our own luck...its not just chance
Sally, I believe that as well. It's funny that many people don't realize it's a big part of Feng Shui...and something we should all do anyway. I know you and I both like to sleep well at night.
Shirley, It's getting more and more popular every day...there is a value of Feng Shui knowledge for realtos and home stagers.
ILM, I don't know if we can Feng Shui the economy. Things are not so good from many people doing the wrong thing....which goes against Feng Shui.
David, I'm sorry to hear you didn't have the best year last year....and hope this one is going better. Some things we can't change but we have more control over things then we may realize--including your surroundings. And yes, you are an Aquarian, a terrific sign!
Joan, It not only goes by the sign but narrows down to date and time of birth...to see how the stars were aligned on each person's birthdate and time. So it's not that one sign would be more fortunate then another.
Joan, Thank you, I feel blessed right back! When people fall back into the negative, it's not helpful...and according to the Law of Attraction (and Feng Shui) they'll only get more of that back. Staying positive and seeing the best in situations is a great way to live.
Donna, We all deal with so much we need our sanctuaries...that's a big part of what Feng Shui provides.
Cynthia, It shouldn't be a struggle at all. Set up things that you love to be surrounded with and lighten up if you have any clutter. Doing those things alone will make you feel better and you need to feel good at home and at work.
Gary, Thank you so much, some things are beyond our control and are said to be pre-destined...and I believe that. But we do have control over many things, whether people choose to use it or not is another thing.
Griselda, I haven't seen you in a while, I'm glad to see you're back! The picture on my blog I took in Paris so it has special meaning for me and I'm glad I was able to get it up :)!
Karen, I put that there because many people believe they are a symbol of luck. For the ones you're seeing, it just might be your dad letting you know he's around. I absolutely believe that, I know my brother visits all the time and he sends a butterfly...they come right up to me and I don't doubt it for a second.
Fernando, We do have control over a lot of it...and that's such a nice thing to know, isn't it?
Carole- Yes, luck #3, we do have total control over our circumstances. We create them! Whether we beleive it or not, whether we accept it or not, the law of attraction is at work in the universe and in our lives every moment of every day. What you focus on expands! :)
Carole, thank you for being such a wonderful Feng Shui guide for us. I totally believe we can create the life we desire. Yes, WE CAN.
We have the power to change so much in our lives if only we would allow our mind to be open to it. This is a great post and a great reminder of the things we can control vs the things we simply cannot !
Katerina, You know enough about Feng Shui to know about this and I knew you already would. And look at how well you're doing, I'm thrilled for you!
Marzena, We sure can control a lot of it.....and that gives us empowerment.
Melissa, I believe people ARE opening up their minds...they are more in tune with Energy then I can ever remember and I'm SO glad :)
Hi Carole,
I read this a few days ago, briefly inbetween getting ready for visiting family, etc and meant to come back sooner to comment. Where does the time go?
I find this concept of the three lucks very intriguing...I'm not sure about my heaven luck since I don't know much about astrology, however I think I may be lacking in that so I try to make up for it by my earth luck and mankind luck.
Thanks for posting about this...I now want to explore this further. There's so much to feng shui and I'm thankful that you share so much of your skill and knowledge with us....it's all so intriguing.

Thank you Carole, how illuminating. I completely understood and validated the three "Lucks" in Feng Shui. It is something worth to think about...
Very Informative post Carole! I've never heard of the 3 Lucks in Feng Shui - Jeff's Grandpa always taught us the harder & smarter we work, the luckier we'll get :)
(Mankind Luck ?)
Lady Bugs always remind me of God's prescence since these tiny creatures seem to be able to withstand the seasons and appear out of no where sometimes!
thanks for sharing.
Sincerely,
Grace
Jo, I wish I still did Western astrology charts, I would love to do one for you....I think I just need a brush-up. I do see an astrologer every few years and find he's very accurate.
Arina, Some of our "luck" is destiny but it's nice to know we have lots of control by our other lucks.
Grace, Jeff's grandpa sounds very bright--I love the wisdom. It's an interesting concept in Feng Shui and it does sound right to me.
Carole: Great information. I really need to make that house peaceful.
