A Feng Shui New York Consultant Goes "Home"
Back in 1996 a woman named Pamela Laurence worked in a wonderful Interior Design School, The Metropolitan Institute of Interior Design in Plainview, New York. She had a foresight and a vision to create a school for Feng Shui in New York and put together the first School for Feng Shui Studies in the Country that was licensed and accredited.

Students came from Florida to California and all points in between. And Pamela provided us with the BEST Feng Shui Consultants in and out of the Country, learning all aspects of Feng Shui to provide her students with a knowledge in all schools of thought. Sadly, many of these true Feng Shui Masters don't even teach anymore.
I was in that very first graduating class. Not long ago I mentioned I had received a call for a class they were holding for people that had requested an interest in learning more about Feng Shui. While I have done workshops and given lectures, I had never taught. I did go in, thinking I could probably not do it...If anyone had EVER told me I would be back at the very school I learned Feng Shui TEACHING it, I never would have believed it.

I am so glad I stepped out of my insecurities; for me, it was far. And returned to The Met to teach a class in Feng Shui in New York. It was a big success and they may hold more. To say it was thrilling would be an understatement. I was "Home" in Plainview, Long Island, loving every minute of it.

CONGRATULATIONS Carole! What an awesome experience for you - teaching is the next step from your workshops and lectures. With a passion as deep as yours, I can see this as being the first of many classes you'll teach!
Thanks for sharing this mile stone with us!
That is so cool Carole! I am so proud of you and I just know....this is just the beginning!
Carole, excellent stepping outside your comfort zone. Since you were trained my the masters it only makes sense that you should impart to others what you have learned. YEA !!
Way to go Carole...I bet that felt really good! I'm proud of you!
You've come a long way baby! Isn't it fun to look back where you started and realize that you had it all in you after all? Good for you...I knew you'd be a star!
Carole, Congratulation... my admiration for all your accomplishments. You are a testimony for what someone can do with herself when determination and hard work is put to task. Bravo!
BRAVO CAROLE~ You are a teacher - every time you consult with someone you are a TEACHER -- every time you write a blog - you are a teacher -- you already have everything you need to Teach! You only have to believe in yourself -- you have it all already! BRAVO
Congratulations! I had no doubt that you would do a wonderful job teaching. What a lucky class.
Wow, what a great story! We get the most out of the things we are most worried about doing! Bravo! I am sure you were amazing!!!
Way to go Carole. Believe and you can do anything and you did! I knew you would be great!! You have now come full circle what a feeling of accomplishment must be!!
Carole: I'm so glad you did step out of your comfort zone because I can see through your post that you are an awesome teacher and your great talent should be shared with others who need to learn.
Carole ~~ I'm so happy you took the plunge. I believe you are a gifted teacher. Your students will love you and talk about you for decades to come!
Debbie, Who would have thought this? I had a great time, too!
Sally, Thank you, what a thrill that was...and yes, I was nervous, it was a long class...
Missy, Thanks. It's why I wrote the other day about "Stepping out" -- this was a great leap for me!
Joan, Thank you, it was fun too....and it went really well, I think everyone enjoyed it.
Lizette, If anyone had ever said that to me back then I would never have believed it...I think I still don't!
Arina, It was hard work all these years....to make people aware of Feng Shui and I am so glad now they want to learn it as well.
Joan, Thank you, I guess you are right and I never looked at it that way. Workshops and lectures are not all that long, this was a real class. I'm very used to and comfortable with sitting down and discussing things with my clients but this was very different.....and wonderful as well!
Chris, The school just sent out a feedback report to everyone in the class....I'm waiting to hear if they liked it, I hope they did!
Trace, I know, I felt it was full circle as well...so what's next then?
Donna, Just goes to show you never know what's going to come up. I almost didn't do it because I was worried....I'm glad I did, everything is a learning experience.
Marzena, Thank you for the cake! I enjoyed it and waiting for responses, I hope the lovely people in the class did as well!
Carole you are an inspiration to everyone . That is why I admire you. You have been ateacher to me since day #1 and I admire you and thank you for all the great lessons. Thank You
Fernando, Thank you! I take a great inspiration from your work and creativity....and love to see your staged homes which always look beautiful.
Carole, I am so glad you stepped out of your comfort zone. You are such a natural at all things Feng Shui. They say to be a teacher you need to be an expert, and THAT you certainly are.
Carole,
I'm so glad you took this on and I'm not surprised to hear that it was a wonderful success. Your students are very fortunate to have someone as kind and patient (not to mention knowledgeable and gifted) as you teaching them and I'm sure this is just the beginning of many more classes. I wish I lived closer, I would love to attend any and all classes you teach.
It's awesome that it was held in your old school!

To give a man a fish feeds him for a day, to teach a man to fish... feeds him for life.
Congratulations on your teaching experience Carole (it's been too long since I've commented on one of your blogs!) I too share a passion for teaching others what I know - I started teaching a Home Staging course this year and am scheduled for 3 more classes after these initial 2. It's such a thrill to share with others something we are passionate about!
Congratulations Carole! I have always learned more than I taught when teaching. Funny about the gifts that come from giving.
Gary, Thank you, I am not a natural teacher when it comes to a group (and that period of time). But it was a wonderful experience and some great feedback came!
Jo, It was just amazing to me to be back there....I really HAD to get out of my box for that and they are hoping to hold more classes!
Karen, I have always loved that quote. I didn't know you were teaching Home Staging and I'm sure you're terrific at it....some people are natural teachers but it's a little difficult for me still. I'll get there...Thank you for the lovely comment.
Roberta, Now that you say it, I did learn a lot...it was a wonderful experience and I hope to have more!
Carole- That is so good to hear....you did it :) :) It is hard to go out of our comfort zone, but we can never become what we are ment to be if we stay what we are.......someone told me that along time ago. Seems it worked for you with your first Congratulations again Carole.....I too am very proud of you.
Kathy, Someone gave you some very wise advice years ago. It took me a long time but you grow when you keep overstepping what you think you can't do! Thank you!
