The Sierra Nevada Mountains in California

For my birthday I had the pleasure of camping inside the Sequoia National Park in Grant Grove, CA (Azalea campground). During a scenic drive we got to see the amazing Sierra Nevada Mountains that John Muir once crossed, advocated protection for and called home.

Within the next couple of years, I would love to hike this amazing terrain. Have you visited the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California? If so, feel free to share photos!

That looks like a wonderful and challenging place to hike. I hope you get some input from others who have done it before.

Hi Laura - Sequoia is one of my favorite national parks, and I camped out there several times when I lived in CA. It was much less crowded than Yosemite back then.

I'm fortunate enough to live a mere 90 miles or so from the Sierra Nevadas and Lake Tahoe.  I haven't done a lot of hiking in the area, but have camped quite a bit in the past.  Here's a picture of Lake Tahoe.

Having been in the infantry I swore I would never go camping again and lucky for me Diane's version of camping is staying at a less than three star hotel:))Endre
