The U.S. Senate Approves Killing Bears and Wolves While Hibernating

I am not one who usually posts political updates, yet this just touched a nerve. Our American U. S. Senate approved hunting in 16 of Alaska's National Wildlife refuges. Do they understand what refuge means?

Refuge: being safe and sheltered from pursuit, danger, trouble and violence.

By repealing hunting restrictions on national wildlife refuges in Alaska (established in 2016), it undermines the critical role predators play in healthy ecosystems. So what does this mean? Aerial hunting, live trapping, baiting of predators such as bears and wolves — as well as on killing those predators while near their dens or their cubs is allowed.

I did some additional research to see what the PROVEN benefits are when you have a healthy ecosystem of predators to prey. You can read and watch a short video on the benefits by clicking: http://www.yellowstonepark.com/wolf-reintroduction-changes-ecosystem/

Personally, I will join in protesting this decision because its inhumane on so many levels. I'm in the process of reaching out to various organizations to help inform me on the best way to stand in helping to protect these amazing animals and for those interested in helping, I'll be sure to keep you posted on this blog.

VERY VERY WELL-WRITTEN. Send it as a letter to your Congressional representatives and give other people permission to use it as well.

Yes there needs to be  balance in wildlife . . . . I would not be in favor of killing bears and wolves while there hibernating.

Good luck and success.

This news is very upsetting. It should not be allowed.

Thanks for sharing!

Please Laura, what do politicians know? Health care is a mess, the economy is sputtering, they do not know the difference between Legal and Illegal Immigrants and the list goes on and on... so I am not surprised at this awful decision, Endre
