14 Days Till 2016 Arrives! - Feng Shui Tip Of The Day - Freshen Up Your Front Entrance

One of the first areas of your home to freshen up before the new year is your front entrance. The image above is a great fast example.

  • Be sure to keep the interior of your front entrance light, open and welcoming.

  • Keep the walking pathway clear of 'clutter.' Blocking your pathway with excess shoes and bags is symbolic of slowing down opportunity from finding you with more ease, among other metaphors.

  • Adding a touch of water and wood element are encouraged by the front entrance. Both are symbolic of growth, movement and flexibility. You could use accent colors, textures, artwork or objects associated to water and wood elements. Here is a sample of suggestion: Blue, blue-greens, greens, water fountian, mirror and plants.

Great and very timely tips Laura!  I have a maybe three foot tall statue of a bear carved out of a tree in my entry.  It guards my front door and makes sure all who enter are good people.

Good reminder to keep that entrance clear...for good fortune to arrive.

Hi Laura... the first two items on your list, I've got knocked year-round. Do wood floors count? Also have the plant (the only one in my entire house) and the mirror. Not sure what to do about the water thought. Ideas?

Good morning Laura. I too liked the picture and I like your advice. I'm going to be working on more of this stuff in 2016.

I think we did a good job of following this list Laura, though it does not look quite as nice as the entrance in the photo.

Laura Cerrano adding the element of wood and water - great tip.
