Name That Photo: Why Is This Image Historical?

Some of you may recognize this image right away. My question for you is What Historical Value Does This Photo Capture? And where is it located in the world? I have to say, upon approaching it in person, it was some view. We even saw wedding photos being taken at this location.

This global sphere is a sculpture. It was actually a show of the mid 20 century consumer and American technology.

I recall seeing a bunch of appliances, automobiles, IBM(Poughkeepsie) exhibited cabinet sized computers with vaccum tubes. It was a good historical era to remember. The ugly Vietnam war, and racist riots, counter culture followed later.

PS: My brother-in-law met his sweetie working at a pavilion food stall ~200 ft away. They are celebrating their golden anniversary next month. It brings back lots of personal memories. We had a conference call from NY Bell with speaker all sat down. Con Ed had a booth.  The people who took us there are not around anymore.

Isn't it from the 1964 World's Fair. My husband was there as a child and mentions it whenever he sees this.

Good morning Laura.  I agree with Sharon. If it isn't from the 1964 World's Fair (which I attended) then it surely looks like it.
