May the "Force" Be With You by Feng Shui Long Island

That little Yoda was a WISE one.  I believe he might have meant to Say "May the Energy be With You" or isn't that EXACTLY what he WAS saying.

Gary Woltal recently wrote a post that struck a nerve with me.  If you haven't seen it, it's here:  Other beauty INSIDE a home   As a Feng Shui Consultant, we find the beauty and help bring it out.

When I wrote my post about Feng Shui Eyes, FENG SHUI EYES by Feng Shui Long Island, New York City  it is about learning to see a space, whether it be a home, business, apartment, a studio or even a corporation from different perspectives.  I can always see so MUCH potential in homes, even when they are badly in need of work or upgrades.

As Feng Shui Consultants not only do WE see that way but when we are going over a client's space with them and the changes we would like to see when we can explain the WHY behind it, they absolutely understand-and have those "A HA" moments.  Recently while discussing a lovely home with my clients, I saw that the furniture was dark and gave the room a very heavy feeling.  When she saw her space from that perspective, she saw it herself.  It is "holding her down."

I will often hear clients say "It didn't FEEL right, but I didn't know WHY."  I've heard this with in both homes and businesses.  When you can see things with an objective eye and evaluate it with Feng Shui perspectives and principles, it often doesn't take much at all to change the energy in that space.  And it not only LOOKS better, it FEELS better.

Feng Shui Home Feng Shui Long Island, New York City

I believe changes occur within a person as well, not just in their space.  They suddenly feel better and things begin to change.  They see the possibilities, they become "unstuck" and they often are inspired with new ideas, thoughts and feelings.  If everyone were aware of the huge impact your surroundings have on you and your feelings and emotions, they would look into it more often-which they are doing.

Feng Shui Long Island New York City

As for me, I am delighted to work with these particular clients who are filled with energy and excitement and so very open to change; who realizes the old ways are not working and wants to FEEL better.  We have spoken several times though have not yet started the Feng Shui Consultation and there have already been shifts.

Thank you, Gary, for inspiring this post.  And you're right; ANY place can be beautiful---if you see the Potential in it.

Carole, It just happened that I talked to my father about your work and he was very interested in asking you for some advise. He is teaching here in Marin Couny College the "Green Architecural Design" and intend to introduce - Feng Shui - application to Green Design.

He will contact you soon. Thank you

Carole--The ability to see good in all is very important...Not everyone is able to put things together well. We are all invited guests into our clients homes and should respect their abilities to decorate. Gary is pretty inspiring isn't he?

Carole,

Gary's post was very touching and although I was in a rush when I read it and neglected to leave a comment, I meant to tell him it reminded me of a saying that my Mother always says 'Beauty is only skin deep' and also 'Never judge a book by it's cover' and so on....I think there are a pile of them.

I really like how it relates to people...people are forever surprising me. When it comes right down to it, there is an enormous amount of potential in everything and everyone, it just has to be revealed.

Yours is the third post I've read about 'vision' and unseen forces tonight!  The 'force' must be in the airwaves....

Carole I definitely understand and feel as if I am in one of those stuck spots tonight.  Have been for a while. I was just in the bathroom that we recently remodeled and found myself thinking how lighter and calming it felt back there and how heavy and dark it felt in the rest of the house.  I may try putting water in the closets to get things moving again.

Hi Carole...I wish you lived closer..we moved into a new house last Summer and it's taking time to get settled. The Front Door faces the street and South, you face the den door as you walk in, no stairs immediately when you walk in, but they there as you start to walk down the hall to the left toward the Living Room(West). The Toughest room I fell is not right is our Masterbedroom..The Bed faces East and views the double Bedroom doors to the left, the right has windows facing South, with West at the Headboard and the on-suite to the North..No intimacy here, however I do Sleep well.

Love reading your posts, you've very inspring in many of your posts here in the Rain!

Cheers, have a great Sunday !

Carole, thanks for the link love and I'm glad I got you thinking. You always make me think with your walking tour posts or your expertise on Feng Shui. I am starting to believe Feng Shui experts are Stagers at an even high plane of understanding. You can explain how things make you feel better AS WELL as look better. What an art and a talent! People that don't understand Feng Shui need to immerse themself in before and after environments and then they would get it. This could be done with photographs. You draw out the beauty that was there all along and accent it. It really amazes me. Maybe in these accredited staging professionals classes they should include Feng Shui. It would make Stagers even better. : )

Carole- I'm on my way over to read Gary's blog, I'm thinking it must be on target for you to reference it on yours.

I know exactly what you mean by feeling the weight of a room!

Hi Carole! I know the feeling of being stuck! I recently repainted my home office. It had been a jade green color. That really isn't a bad color but it reminded me of my Dad's Pawn Shop inside that was a dirty faded green that was in need of fresh paint. It never got painted then was sold.

I bought some milk chocolate brown paint and redid the office. That with the mahogany furniture, floral chaise lounge/red pillows, red velvet drapes, tiffany lamps, new oiled bronze ceiling fan and jewel tone original paintings the office has a Wow factor now. Maybe more of an abundance feeling. I love being in there and work is now enjoyable. I find that I keep my desk tidy too. The rest of the files have been cleaned and now I feel like business flows better. The weight of the room is heart warming to me. Now all this spreads to those around me....love it!

HI Tom,  You're not supposed to be eating fast food :)  I'm making a serious effort to eat healthy.  It's good to see you!

Andrew, Clean up--and call it back in!  Honestly, you'll all feel better (I've had all those toys, I know the feeling.

Arina, Thank you, I will help with whatever I can.  We've had courses by Carol Cannon, a leader in the field of Bau Biology although I did not go on to become Certified in that.  So we've known about "going green" since 1996.  Bau-biologie principles

Sally, I believe in those naps--when you have time :)  A short one can do wonders!

Teri, Gary is an inspiration for sure.  I am mindful when making suggestions and when clients understand WHY, they can then see it themselves--it's a great feeling.

Jo, If the force is in the airwaves, it's a good thing :)  There is SO much potential in ANY space, unfortunately some people can't see beyond what's there right now.  And I completely agree with you regarding people.

Gayle, Keep all your blinds or window coverings open during the day and I'm thinking lighting would feel better then water in the closets.  Try some extra or softer lighting, it can work wonders in a space.

Fred, Bedrooms need to be balanced...and no mirrors.  Remember too that electrical energy in the bedrooms are not recommened--TV's and computers. TV's also have a reflective quality.  Sometimes bedrooms that are over garages can cause some Feng Shui issues (which can be remedied easily).

Gary, You're right, it would help very much in staging and many of the principles are the same...for different reasons.  They'll put a bowl of fruit out for color, we use it for abundance :)  I have been re-designing so long it was called re-arranging with some simple additions. I loved your post because I can see beyond what's there and see the beauty of a space!

Jackie, She's going to feel so MUCH better without that heavy feeling, I can guarantee it.  I had it once because my furntiture is heavy oak...and got rid of many pieces.  The change was phenominal.

Nestor & Katerina, I took one of the low kitchen cabinets and stored some of the toys in there when the kids were litte.  They could play near me while I was cooking :)  Now the dogs have their toys in there, if only they would pick up after themselves :)!

Lizette, you put a lot of work into it...and energy.  I'm glad it's making you feel better and I agree, one room can have an impact on the whole house.

Carole - Great post.  Life is a journey where the destination is the same for each of us.  It is so important to live a life you want, to learn all you can, and to be happy. Our surroundings can lift us up and bring us down.  It is worth it to invest time and energy to create a beautiful environment for ourselves.

Carole~It is incredible what results we see when we do pay attention to the way something makes us feel. As I was reading your post I couldn't help but think of how vision has affected my life in such a profound way. This is also the same when writing our blog. We have a vision, apply it and put it out to the world like you have. That feeling of being "stuck" can be felt through ones words as well. I'm babbling now. Time to read your next post. Big hugs to you my friend.

Marzena, It's funny that as I'm typing I know that my desk has to be cleaned...it's not a distaster and it doesn't have to be perfect but I need more organization.  Our surroundings can make us clear or confused.

Julie,  I have seen "stuck" people feel so much better by changing their thoughts and several thngs in their surroundings.  It's amazing what lightening up can do for your mind!  I am trying to make it a point to get rid of something every time I buy something (especially clothes!).

Carole:  I have the ability to see the potential in houses but I am amazed at how many cannot and will be thrown by the simplest of things.  I am sure you feel sheer joy when you are able to help someone see through your eyes what they would not have seen on their own.

Donna, I know some people can't see things even as simple as clutter.  I know it's distracting but whether you're buying, selling or feng Shuiing, they have to find the potential.

Candy, I love Yoda.  And it's funny since I wasn't a Star Wars fan.  He's so wise.

Grace You put that better then I did!  That's exactly what it is--a vision of what it CAN be, not what it may look like now.

Carole, I came back to your post because it is something you said that made me,for the first time, understand how great impact on your immediate environment your energy can bring about and the feed back you get from it.

I know somebody (my mother) -quite old now - who whenever she lived: the space, home or room she concentrated on were magically transformed in a peaceful, warm, cozy, accommodating, healing place.

It was her exquisite sense of beauty, balance and natural instinct that transformed ANY place she lived into a delightful space. The lights, the soft music, the placement of the furniture, the colors, the books, the art, the little details in everything were beautifully blended in harmony. The minute someone would step into the home would suddenly feel enchanted at peace and happy.

Arina, Some people have natural gifts for actually following the principles of Feng Shui without even realizing it--it sounds as if your mother may have been one of these people.  There are still so many misconceptions about Feng Shui but it just seeks to create that wonderful feeling you've always gotten--and the changes are not expensive, we use what the clients have and may just add a few things.   Your mother sounds as if she's got the art of placement down very well!  Thank you for the beautiful story.

Hi Carole,

Nice post! Funny you should mention how furniture can change you feelings. We just changed our basement by getting rid of all the old furniture, TV and pool table (when I say old it wasn't that old only about 7yrs old). We bought new chocolate brown leather furniture and a new TV that hangs on a lovely new glass stand. The basement feels so much better to me I now like coming down here. It feels so much more open even though the new furniture is a darker color.

PS. If I don't get a chance to say good-bye before I leave you have a wonderful next few weeks and a Happy Easter!! I am off to a little sunny California dreaming!!

Carole, I truly love your insight through Feng Shui!  What I especially appreciate is your ability to find solutions that are hidden by dark rooms, heavy furniture and, of course, lack of energy flow.  I wish you were closer; I would definitely hire you for my own home as well as for all listings!

Hi Carol...Yikes, we have a dresser facing the foot of the bed with a large Mirror facing us. Now what?

Help....

I agree and love to see the "hidden potential" in both homes and people! I know what you mean that homes don't feel right sometimes and don't always know the issue though. Maybe understanding more Feng Shui will help.

Carole, there IS beauty in everything, we just have to look hard sometimes :)  Why do you use so much red, is there a significance to the color?  Just an observation, and of course I'm always wanting to learn.  Want to come to Texas and do my home for me?
Posted by Jem Woods - Marble Falls TX Real Estate (Keller Williams Realty - Marble Falls, TX) about 5 years ago

Trace, What you live with on a day to day basis you don't really SEE anymore.  Feng Shui doesn't have to be expensive, I'm sorry so many people believe that.  PLEASE come back and share your trip with us, I'm so happy for you and want to hear all about it.  Have a blast!

Diane, The furniture was weighing down the room--and my client!    She has already made some simple changes and is not only seeing but FEELING an energy shift!

Fred, Love the hand, can I have one?  Your mirror Intensifies the energy of whatever it reflects...and you're waking up and not seeing yourselves at your "best."  You can put two vases in front of the mirror with some pretty silk flowers, you can hang some suncatchers to help deflect the energy OR you can take it down.  They aren't recommended in bedrooms at all.

Kevin & Monica, My clients have many A HA moments.  They knew they didn't like something or it didn't feel right but they didn't know WHY.  I always give them the why and they get it.

Jem, Sure, anytime :)  RED is the Auspicious color in Feng Shui and it also represents the Element of FIRE.  It is an Energizing color.  Tiger Woods always wears a Red Shirt during an Open, he's another one in tune with Feng Shui!
