COINCIDENCE? I don't THINK So! by Feng Shui Long Island

I believe in the power of words.  I believe every single thing you write that is posted on the Internet represents you.  I have many of my thoughts and ideas through articles and blogs on the Art of Feng Shui and my beliefs about it as I have been posting for years.

I also believe people can either connect with you through your words or realize that you are not the person for them.  Oftentimes something just strikes a NERVE with something you write and a potential client finds it and feels compelled to call you to discuss the possibility of working with you.

And so it was for me recently from an article I had posted a year or two ago.  I received a call from California from a woman who said she found me on the Internet and loved what I'd written. One article led her to look for others and she "connected" with my thoughts and feelings about Feng Shui.

I asked her if she recalled what she had typed in to find me as I am certainly not targComputer Feng Shui New York Cityeting California.  And she rFeng Shui Clientselayed this story to me: She had been thinking on and off of having a Feng Shui Consultation for some time and had met a friend one day and they briefly discussed it.  Her friend used a phrase that she repeated a few times "There are no Accidents."  The phrase stayed with her and when she returned home she typed it into Google.  There are NO Accidents | New Age Journal

And an article I had written pulled up; years ago I stopped believing in "Coincidences" and "Accidents"and had written an article about my beliefs.  She didn't see THIS as an accident, either, and emailed me with a few questions.  I wrote her back and suggested several options:  She should call several other Feng Shui Consultants and how I can work with her, if she wanted to by doing a phone Feng Shui Consultation.

I wrote what an Online Feng Shui Consultation would involve including a floor plan, pictures and Red Envelopes.  A few days went by and she called.  She thanked me for my honesty regarding calling other Feng Shui Consultants but ultimately wanted to work with me.  From the articles and blog posts she'd read, she said she knew that finding me was no accident.

This reminded me of a very important lesson, one that has been spoken about but bears repeating:  If you're not putting quality posts up and are "blogging for points" you WILL certainly get points.  To my knowledge, however, I've never gotten any business from points-but I've gotten plenty from my posts here on Activerain.  I'm going to keep this in mind at all times that I write.  I want to share information not only about my business but about myself as well.  I want to write about things people will read and connect with.  I write about New York City and Long Island so often because I truly love my home and people can see that.  I've said it many times before and I'll add it once more here because it's so relevant to this post:  There are NO Accidents.  You meet the people you are supposed to meet and attract the clients you are meant to have-which makes working with each and every one of them a JOY.

Carole, What a cool story!  I would agree that what people writes on the internet represents them, but people change and grow with time...I hope my AR self will grow as well!  I happen to have a client interested in feng shui, so I shall look at your posting history--nice to meet you.  Cheers, Harley

This is a great story. You just never know who will end up finding you and when they will do it.

Hi Carole,
Absolutely!  Increasing our business is our primary reason for being here not accumulating points or features.  As much I enjoy the social aspect of AR, I am working very hard on my Localism.  That's where my business will come from.  How and why people find us is amazing.

Carole,

This post touched me so deeply this morning. You are the only other person I've ever known who does not believe in coincidences. I believe that every single thing that comes into our lives, both sentient and non-sentient, comes into our life for a reason...the reason may not be apparent until many years later, however it is there never-the-less.

Beautiful writing and very heart-felt post, thank you for writing this,

Jo

Carole - I don't think there are truer words written (or spoken) anywhere.  I have always followed the theory that if something was meant to be, then it will be.  You cannot force something to be.  It just won't work.

Carole:  I think it is so true that we should be mindful of what we write and post to the internet.  As a group of professionals, we should try to showcase our professionalislm every chance we get.  Sometimes, I have to remind myself that I'm not in a box and only the chosen few will see.  What we write can hurt us just as much as it can help us.

Carole What a wonderful start to this day!  I must admit that I often think things are merely a coincidence only to realize later that they are not!  The connections we make in life do teach us every step of the way, if only we are receptive.  I am mindful of the content I choose to include on Active Rain, the web site, and marketing to my clients.  I try to bring some value to those who may read my posts.  Often, I find I do not have all the time I wish I had to convey some of my thoughts and impressions.  My goal for myself is to find more "balance"

Harley,Nice to meet you as well.  I truly believe more and more clients will be purchasing with Feng Shui principles in mind as it's become so popular.  You'll be of  great benefit to them with an understanding of it.

Bob & Carolin,I am amazed sometimes at how people tell me they find me.  Once somthing is "out there" you can never take it back.

Cynthia,You never know what is going to "click" with a client that will make them want to work with you--and never know where they might find it.  I know you do wonderful Localism posts and have been trying to keep up with Jo's fabulous group.

Jo,I believe there are many people our there that don't believe in coincidences; or I thought so, anyway.  I haven't for years, I always believe that nothing happens by accident, as difficult as it may be while going through some things I too can look back years later and see the WHY.

Carol, I believe that's true.  Sometimes we fight so hard for something that we may want but it was not meant to be for us.  So while I practice Intention, I have also been aware of the Law of Allowance, letting go and seeing what the Universe has in store for you.

Donna, I couldn't agree with you more.  I love the social side of Activerain but we do, as an entire community, represent eachother.  I'm so sad that due to some negative posts it is now necessary to put a disclaimer on posts.  We should be here to support each other and our businesses and remember this is a professional site.

Joan, It's so difficult to find that balance but I know I have some times I work much often then others and that's fine--then I can allow myself to take time to do what I want to do!  I think if we're mindful of it, it all balances out in the end.

Hi Carole,

Nice post. I too, believe people come into our lives for a reason good or bad as it is all part of the big picture of our lives.

Carole ~ You always have such great stories!  I agree with what you say about blogging for points or quality blogging for clients.

In regards to points, Carole, the search engines don't give a hoot about them! However aside from your topic just a little, I've recently come to understand that certain AR points accumulated in respect to keywords are relative to quality SEO.

I believe AR has set up the system to award quality posting to optimize SEO. However, I also think many aren't aware of the concept.

For example, a keyword phrase, "There are no Accidents"  by design - no coincidence, picks up SE attention when used in the title, body, tags (keywords) listing  and comments, also scoring more points that way. Thusly our words do travel with more impact.

SEO Quality and points are hand in hand, just as in your picture.

The internet is wonderful for connecting like minds and thought.

Trace, It's been so many years since I stopped believing in accidents....I really believe there are none!

Kathy, These wonderful things find me!  I feel like my life is an adventure these days :)

Deborah, I'm not sure I understand but I THINK I do...we should put the Title in our posts as well as our tags for better SEO?  Do I have that right?  Many of my posts come up (quickly) high on Google and I just thought it was AR "power" and some of the things Katerina has spoken of that I can understand :)

Rosario, Thank you for your comment.  I used to believe in Coincidences but haven't in many years, there are way too many of them.

Maria, Thank you, some of the nicest people have been finding and contacting me, I am very fortunate.

Carole, We are put in people's paths and they are put in our for specific reasons.  My husband and I learned this during a very difficult time in our lives, but every person we needed was placed in our path to help us along the way.  It has made me more aware of the people along my path and on the look out for people I can touch.

Sorry Carole I just got on a bit of a tangent, trying to relate that AR points are relative to quality use of seo savvy in posts and commenting. AR does give the 'boost', but we help it along, and accordingly rewarded with accurate usage of quality terms.

Just disregard

Vita, Thank you!  And thank you for stopping by and reading it.

Joan, Two people lately have connected to my words on the Internet.  I'm thrilled to hear that and will be working with both of them.  Thank you for your kind words!

Gayle, What a sweet thing to say---thank you!

Kim, That's a beautiful thought and I believe you're right.  Someone you need 'happens' to come along at exactly the right time--it's no coincidence.

Deborah, I'm not disregarding it, I'm trying to figure it out!  Did I get it right??  Title, body of post and tags?  And can you teach me how to put those cool things in my posts??  A dancing happy face--I LOVE it!

Carole, I also believe in the power of words. Absolutely!... The energy you generate through the spoken words works just like any other energies. Attracts or rejects... It is  simple energy field!

As for the posts you're right. It is easy to just posts for points but to "Click" with your readers is a different story!... I have this problem myself... and working on it!

Carole, I too, believe there are no accidents and coincidences. Like you are my Feng Shui expert in the New York area. I also believe in the power of carefully selected words and "quality" posts.

Carole~I would say this is no coincidence that I came across this post tonight. I truly without doubt believe those words and when we have those moments with a client or anybody that comes into our lives it's easy to grasp a hold of that relationship and hold onto it as a blessing. When you put into perspective how many people are on AR, it's not by chance that the people we connect with are right here in our lives. There are people, like you, that if I haven't seen for a couple of days, my mind keeps being drilled of that person and I have to find my way to visit. Points? That one is interesting because I had a gal call me because of "points". But I'll be that she went into read my profile before she made the leap to call. Content? Always more important in my opinion than points.

So true, Carole, we get to interact with people who are supposed to be in our life - even the challenges - life is all obout the experiences, the connections, the feelings, that is where we learn the most important lessons.  Quality rich posts are always about human connections - we want to be with other people and get to know them, so we can help each other. Thanks for another on track post.

Carole - I agree with you completely, there is no "by accident". I am almost finished with a great book on the topic - Spontaneous Fulfillment of Desire - The Essence of Harnessing the Infinite Power of Coincidence" by Deepak Chopra. In the book, Deepak talks about that the seemingly small coincidences that we experience every day are actually important clues to living a richer, more aware life.

Arina, I don't believe anyone who reads your posts has a difficulty connecting with YOU, they show what a very special person you are!  I try not to miss any...

Gary, You certainly have quality posts and I am inspired by every one of them...I know I will be uplifted before I've read it.

Julie, I have thought of that often, the sheer number of people on AR and the ones who think alike find each other somehow.  These are the type of things that show we are meant to meet the people we meet and I believe that with clients as well.  Everyone is in our lives for a purpose!

Bonnie, You are so right about the people we meet who 'challange' us in one way or another.  Some of those learning lessons are tough but we always manage to get through them--and hopefully learn the first time :)

Monica & Ray, I have several of his books and they are wonderful.  Many of his thoughts and beliefs are similar to my own but he reinforces them and does it so well!

Carole, I've been remiss in my comments this week, but had to say that this was a great post!  Sometimes, when I look back and think that if I could do things over again, I realize that I am where I am meant to be and that each event in my life has led me to this very place and I would never want to change that.  I'm so glad that we've connected in the rain and that I can count you as my fair friend :)
