FENG SHUI EYES by Feng Shui Long Island, New York City

FENG SHUI EYES

Feng Shui Eyes--Feng Shui Long Island Consultant

This is, undoubtedly, a difficult post for me because there are so many different views and perspectives about Feng Shui in ANY space, I can tell you what WE look for-and try to explain WHY.  A warning:  It is long.  If you want an understanding of Feng Shui Eyes and Principles, read on!

When Feng Shui Consultants are looking at a Home, Business, Office, Corporation or are called in to review floor plans for new construction or a renovation, there are many things we are always mindful of.  Many of us start from the outside to do an Exterior Evaluation.  We are looking for a busy street, a T Junction, whether the home is on a Dead End or cul de sac; all of these have an impact on the energy of the place we are evaluating.

Fast moving traffic?  Things can pass you by in your life by moving so fast.  Living in a cul de sac (where energy pools) can sometimes make people feel "stuck."  Dead End:  In some forms of Feng Shui things are taken VERY literally.  There are several ways to Intentionally "cure" ALL these things.  If there is ONE THING that I've learned after so many years of practice it is this:  ANY BUILDING CAN SUPPORT YOU IF YOU TRULY LOVE IT.  There is nothing stronger then YOUR own Chi.  Many practitioners might disagree with me but I'm sharing my opinions only.

I advise my clients, if you LOVE it, BUY it.  We can Intentionally cure any Feng Shui issues and since they are primarily done by Intention they need be difficult to do or cost much money.

We then look at the Front Door and the pathway leading up to it.  If you recall, in Feng Shui we refer to this as the Mouth of Chi.  It is where all good energy enters.  We want to feel Graced into our space and make others feel the same.  One example of something I ask my clients to use if possible are solar lights...leading the Energy right inside.

Feng Shui Stairs--Feng Shui New York City

Once inside we look at what we see immediately when we walk in.  Many of you have heard that stairs sweep our Energy right upstairs (and it often can) but we have many ways to deflect that.  If the entrance door leads directly to a backyard door, it is said that your Energy and all the Good that comes in will go right back out again.  We also have things to correct this.  Other things we check:  Doorways (they are the VOICES in Feng Shui).  Many doors can create chatter-or arguments.  Or when two doors are opened at once, do them "hit" or bump into each other?  In the Black Sect tradition these are called "Arguing Doors."  And there is a blessing for that specifically for those that can not afford to change their doors.

Feng Shui Hallway--Feng Shui

Long hallways can be an issue---again, a sweep of Energy right down the hall.  While we WANT Energy to move, we do NOT want it to move too fast!  We diffuse it.  From both an Exterior and Interior perspective we lay out he Bagua.  I have been asked, on occasion, to "read" a home and have been pretty successful in telling my clients where they might be having certain issues or difficulties.  Firewood stored in either your Wealth or Partnership area can create a loss of income and financial issue or partnership difficulties, both business AND personal.  What's in the HEART of Your Home? UPDATED! A Feng Shui Home in Pictures.....  (In this post you can SEE the potential issues in a home).

Concentrating on each area during a walk through we look for Furniture Placement for Energy Flow, The Five Elements in each room, colors, patterns, artwork, textures....the list can be endless.  One thing we NEVER miss is the way a home makes us FEEL.  Those feelings, we believe are often times caused by Predecessor Energy---from former occupants or even current ones who have been through a divorce or any relationship issues.  If there is a Home Office we pay special attention to that.  Let's Talk About Predecessor Energy: A Feng Shui Post from Feng Shui Long Island

There is some controversy over which ROOM is most important in Feng Shui.  Some consider it to be the Bedroom, some the Kitchen.  In my own personal opinion while it certainly CAN help to address one room, in reality it's not much more expensive to do an entire home---years ago it wasn't taught to us to do a room at all but it seems to be becoming a popular thing to do.

The Principles of Feng Shui are many....and they are all stored right inside.  It takes MANY years and MANY Feng Shui Consultations to achieve true FENG SHUI EYES.  And once you have them, they cannot be turned off!  But I wouldn't have it any other way.

*A Note:  MANY Feng Shui Consultants' perspectives vary...the opinions expressed here are my own only.

Carole,

Yet another great post!

Posted by First Last over 4 years ago
I love this post Carole. I am always saying Feng Shui is vastly misunderstood as some sort of mystical hocus pocus. This post brought much more to light through the "eyes" of an expert. Understanding energy and feeling and how rooms are architected and where you feel so "at home" is so important. My office is one area I feel "at peace" along with the kitchen / family room for socializing. I do know the opposite too where a home just does not "feel" right to you. I hope you continue to write more about Feng Shui eyes. You definitely have them.

Carole - Awesome post.  I bookmarked it to study it in detail later. Lately, I have been working a lot, in a hurry, and feeling out of breath, that I feel that my chi has left me!  I'd love to go for a walk in a park to look for it but it's very cold outside, and again, I don't have much free time.  What's a girl to do?  (perhaps I exaggerated, a little)

Hi carole  I wonder if you think that the chin link fence that I have around the front of my house (dogs) that locks, is keeping out good energy.  There sure seems to be a run of negative things going on here.

Carole - This isn't a long post...I want more! ;)  I would be interested to hear what you have to say about those dreaded split levels with stairs going up OR down...yikes, which way is the CHI to turn?

Marzena - I do hope you find your way to much needed energy - blessings!

Hi Carole - I love the idea of solar lights to the entry and is what I recommend also - my entry area is too shaded for these to work, so I'm still trying to find a solution. Hey this wasn't so long!

Carole,

I always enjoy reading your perspective on things because I believe you are one of the few real and honest feng shui practioners out there. You guide people through positive advice, not negative, and this is so important.

thank you for continuing to educate us all as to the way feng shui can make a great impact on our lives.

Carole~ I agree with Jackie, I want more!  this was so informative.

I can almost always tell what a seller's situation is by the way I feel when I walk into a home.  The estates and divorce sales almost always feel gloomy abd depressing.  I'm glad to hear that there are cures for these problems, because I agree, if the house does not have a fatal flaw, and you love it, buy it.

Okay Carole...what would you say about a front door that opens into a hallway but straight ahead the exact width of the door is the wall and banister of a stairway. When the door is fully open (or closed) there is an office down the hallway to the left and to the right a family room. It is a two story entry with a large window so there is plenty of light. Is the Chi really bad?

Carole -- this post was so interesting - and it was not too long at all.  I am waiting for the next insight into your world.  I found it fastenating to learn that you can solve almost any situation.  I thought a home either "had" good Feng Shui or it did not!  I guess it is not that black and white.

Michelle, Thank you!  It's difficult to put down all the things we look for (and at).

Gary, Believe me, it's misunderstood!  Many years ago it was even worse, it was VERY difficult trying to explain to people the principles, thoughts and intentions.  Finally it's making headway--thank you for your comment and I'm glad you home feels so good!

Marzena, Slow down just a bit!  I know it's difficult with so many things to do but somehow they always manage to get done.....I too am waiting for some warm weather and heading to the Park myself!

Gayle, I wouldn't keep it locked all the time.  Maybe at night when you put the dogs to bed you can unlock it?  I actually do believe it's possible it may be not allowing the energy to flow in normally and may take longer to get there.

Jackie, My issue with stairs are probably the ones you're speaking of...I call them stairs over stairs where some go up and right underneath the others go down.  The center of the home is your health area and in Feng Shui this creates a "hole" and it can create health issues over a period of time.  It takes some work to correct them but we do.

Deborah, I have read about three posts today about ones that are too long---I figured I'd warn everyone :)  This is the super condensed version!

Tom, Thank you....I have to think it's the weather that's making everyone a bit tired.  Many of us are more than ready for Spring!

Jo, Thank you, I'm trying to show different perspectives.  Feng Shui is so misunderstood and our clients rely on us because they often call when they're having some difficulties.

Lisa, Many Feng Shui consultants will disagree with me on that and tell a client not to purchase a home.  I have seen it over and over that when they really LOVE a home their energy is stronger then anything.  We can make simple changes in a home.  (I will be getting emails about this for the next week :)

Teri, I don't have a clear picture.  If the front door has a hallway before the stairs it would depend on how long the hallway is and how steep the flight of steps are.  I would need a picture to see it. There is no BAD chi, there is chi we can difuse and change!  However, if the office is in the back left hand corner of the house, that is the weath area!  A good place to make money...

Joan, There are so many different methods and practices and they are not wrong, just different.  We learned them all and then how to integrate them; people cannot afford to either more or renovate.

Joan, the Maven,  Most of the time it is fun!  And my clients are the absolute BEST.  But many people have problems and I can come out drained at times, it's very sad to hear.

Lisa, My fair friend, thank you :)   Feng Shui eyes do not go away when you finally get them, that's not always a good thing!

Great overview Carole!  I am so glad to hear you say that anything can be overcome.  I have had so many clients instantly dismiss a house because of a Feng Shui issue and their Feng Shui masters don't offer solutions.

Carole, I am absolutely fascinated by your post... and the rest of them. It is by far the most interesting.

When I go to see a property I go through a lot of emotions... and never realized why. From the minute I stop in front of that house my mind goes blank and emotions sets in. Every step I take, going through the house, starts an internal dialog and feelings. I feel the energy of that place.

Wow, what a great post. Thank you.

Diane,I know and I'm sorry to hear that, I really am.  One of my clients wanted to set up a business on the site of a funeral parlour; when I went in I actually had to do the blessing PRIOR to the consultation but they loved it.  Their Energy, the Blessings and Feng Shui all contributed to a very successful business!  You can overcome anything and change it if you love it.

Arina,Thank you.  There is so much to Feng Shui and it's misunderstood.  I attached that post about Predecessor Energy because we believe that's exactly what people that are sensitive to Energy like you are feeling.

Carole- I have been working and thinking a lot about my house.  I liked the tip of energy coming in the front door and helping to guide it in.  I have an older home and the sidewalk leading to the front door is one of those L shaped deals that appear so impractical......anyway....I thought of putting a path from the street to the door, a more practical way to get there......so what do you think?
Posted by Kathy McGraw, Riverside County CA Real Estate (CELLing Realty) over 4 years ago

Carole- We live in the ideal home and when people come over they always mention the wonderful energy they feel, the flow of the floor plan and the ambiance. We made a curved pathway that led to our front door in the shape of a river and added black rocks to both sides to symbolize water, we then added butterfly friendly plants along both sides.

We live on a street that is only 2 blocks long, not a busy, and not a major passway. We are facing direct east, very good! No poison arrows towards our home. We always use our pathway to enter our home. Just the taste of our Feng Shui'd home.

Hi Carole,
I do believe you definitely have Feng Shui eyes and they see things the rest of us do not see or understand. Thanks to you and your educational posts, I have begun to see things through eyes that have been exposed to some Feng Shui lessons.

As usual with your posts I always get more ideas on how I can uses feng shui to understand the feel of a house. I think of this even as I show houses to others. I'm sure there is plenty I could do to my own as well. It's amazing how it all works to keep us comfortable and healthy in our personal space. Good job!

Missy, Thank you so much.  I am so fortunate to have such wonderful clients, they are truly the best people I could ask to meet.

Kathy, Did you mean directly from the street or from the sidewalk in front of your home...or do you have a sidewalk?  You can (if I'm visualizing this correctly) "round off" the pathway with large pots where there are sharp turns...with some pretty plants and use solar lights.  It would sure save some money :)

Katerina, I know people can FEEL it and they love it.  I'm sure your home is lovely.  I most heavily incorporated all the principles when I was finishing off my basement and every time someone was down there they would always comment on how good it felt!  Oh well, the leak I had will just have me re-do it, maybe it was time :)

Trace, Thank you, I always hope someone gets something out of my posts.

Cynthia, It's just a different way of seeing things.  But we are never allowed to give unsolicited Feng Shui advice so if I see something in a friends home, for example, I'm not permitted to mention it!

Lizette, It is interesting and involved isn't it?  Who ever thought there was so much to it...I didn't :)!

Kevin & Monica, You're very welcome and thank you for stopping by.

Maria, I am thrilled you got the house you loved...and will be following up with you soon, I want to hear what you've done since we last spoke!

Carole- I don't have a sidewalk in front of my house (by the street) but I do have an entrance with cement in-between 2 palm trees that I wanted to put paver's or something going up to the house.  The sidewalk that is there is off the driveway very close to the house, and in an unnatural position.  I like the ideas of the lights and the potted plants though......

"I advise my clients, if you LOVE it, BUY it."  You have a let's work it out /make it happen approach to life and your business - and that's our philosophy as well - probably why we relate so much to your posts Carole - awesome advice again!

Carole - I can't believe I missed this post!  You have made the art of Seng Shui seem so clear.  I need to do something with my foyer as I have stairs going up from the front door.  ( I also have a return stairs from the landing to the kitchen)  I wonder what you think about that?  This was a wonderful post Carole!
Posted by Candy Henthorne- Spring Texas Real Estate (Results Realty) over 4 years ago

Kathy, If you can email me a picture I can let you know my thoughts before you think about paving....it may not be that you need something expensive at all and I don't mind looking at them.  (And sorry for the late response, I was not feeling very well for a few days).

Jeff & Grace, I have never believed that a place that someone loved could be a "kiss of death" and that's not the way I view things.  When you think about it, what is stronger then LOVE?  It (and some changes) can overcome just about anything.

Trace, I'm glad that you read and I don't think you need to bookmark, you sometimes bring things back up to me that I've said :)

Julie, They used to speak about that in class and I wondered if I would ever be able to see things like that.  I truly think they just develop over tirme--lots of time.

Candy, I was late getting back to my own post :(  If your stairs have a landing in the center, it's actually a good thing as it doesn't direct the energy straight up or down.  I'm not sure if that's what you meant but if you have a question just email me.
