Just ONE Feng Shui Picture--That Speaks :) by Feng Shui Long Island

Whoever said one picture is worth a thousand words was surely speaking of this one; from a Feng Shui Consultants point of view.  I've seen this particular corner before but they appear to just keep adding more signs.

Ok, you don't have to know much about Feng Shui to see what's wrong with this picture---as a matter of fact, you probably don't have to know ANYTHING about Feng Shui to see what's wrong. This picture is near an intersection on a busy road on Long Island. We speak often of making someone feel welcomed into our "space" and making them feel warm and invited.

Let's not forget that Feng Shui is quite literal as well, in many of its meanings.  Think of DRAINS, they are exactly that and can drain you of your energy, money, time....It's one of the reasons we are careful in bathrooms to keep the door closed (the drain energy will stay put!), keep the seat down (annoying as that is to some people) and keep a plant over the toilet, to deflect the drain energy up and away.

Energy also can "pool" in courts.  There is not a flow to allow it to move easily.  As a Feng Shui Consultant, I would have to address these multiple signs that say "DEAD END" and I would have to address the issues of a court. I was curious if Realtors would get asked the same questions I would on this...or if it would dissuade you in any way from purchasing a home yourself in an area like this?  I'm going to think long and hard about solutions for this issue, you can bet if I've seen it now it will be coming up soon!

I would certainly not want a listing or a home on this street.  Talk about bad Karma!!  I wonder why there is so many "GET OUT and STAY OUTs" on this street?  Wild.

what a nightmare! I can not imaging leaving on the street like this one. Why did they need so many signs?

Thank you for some reminders about bathroom.

That house with the older white car must have had a few people shoot right up into their front lawn- what a disaster zone!  The whole thing screams, "DON'T GO STRAIGHT, MORON".  I'm going to put a plant in the bathroom- it's often done in model homes, but I didn't understand the significant placement.  Thank you once again, Carole!

The photo is depressing and full of negativity. Dead end, dead end, dead, dead, dead...this is all anyone can see. No matter how great a home is in this neighborhood, the feeling is so overwhelming, I simply would keep on driving.

Yet, no matter what my personal preferences may be, I work for my clients. Regardless of where the home is situated, I have to do my best in marketing it and getting it sold. Even with all the signs, there are apparantely people who do like this neighborhood (vehicles parked on the street and in driveways). There's always a buyer for every home...sometimes we just need to work a bit harder to find that special person for that special property. And although I practice Feng Shui, many buyers and sellers do not. I work with clients and properties on an individual basis.

What a nightmare...I cannot imagine for a second living on this street!

I always notice houses at the end of a T street and think, "Gosh I'd hate to live there".  I keep wanting to talk to someone who actually lives in a house like that, just to see if it bothers them.

hmm...that's some picture, Carole ! I wonder why they have so many dead end signs?  I feel  congested and 'stuck' just looking at it.

Very interesting,

That is an amusing picture, I can't imagine the need for all of those signs.  Of course I can't but wonder how quiet the neighborhood is.  I would be interested in the houses at the end of the street.  Traffic noise must be at a minimum.

Carole,

That whole area just looks mighty unfriendly!  I don't think I could get a client to look at a house in that little cul de sac.  It's definitely not inviting.

How many people do you think drives down there anyway, thinking they can get out on the other side?  LOL

Posted by Carol Smith (Casmi Photography) about 4 years ago

LOL.... Wow Carole....I've never seen more than one of these signs to alert motorists.... wonder why there are 5 ???

could they post " This is NOT a Thru Street " and take down a few of them - redundant to say the least and even alittle alarming ?

Excellent points you made!

Sincerely,

Grace

This look like a REAL DEAD END and DEAD DEAL -- I would think that the people living in the area should call their representative.  I guess the only positive I can see is that there won't be a lot of traffic (lol)!  I have never seen anything like this -- as you said, now I will see these signs every where.

Carole, I keep hearing that haunting voice from the cheap horror flick. . . "GET OUT!!!".  Doesn't it just scream at you?  Nice post.

Carole-I get a negative vibe from the picture, I can't imagine living on that street.

That was soooo yuk! I'm sure if there's a will there's a way that Carole will find for a solution to all this!

Carole ~ I don't know - do you think it's a Dead End?  Do they have enough signs?  It's very unwelcoming.

Jem ~ I think the movie you are referring to is "The Amityville Horror", which coincidentally, is on Long Island!

Carole...I think you should send that picture into the local paper with a one word caption......Why???
Posted by Joan Mirantz GRI CBR SRES- Concord New Hampshire Realtor (Homequest Real Estate) about 4 years ago

Amazing!  It would be interesting to survey the people who live on the street and just see if they are happy, balanced people or crabs.  Or to see if they are healthy or if all the "DEAD" has impacted them on the large scale.

Thanks for sharing!

Carole, that picture makes me feel claustrophobic!  Way too much going on with all of those negative signs...it makes me feel like if I went in, I might be trapped!

I'm not sure whey they don't have signs that say "No Access" or "No Outlet"  --  that's what I usually see.  And wondered if anyone else felt this way about all those Dead End signs....I'm not alone.  I WAS actually curious about the people that live there but they may not even notice them anymore!  If I were doing a clients home in there I would add lights (to brighten up my space and intentionally "push" some of those signs away...with lots of solar lights leading up to my door and around the garden).  If the sign was in front of my home I would bless it, tie a red ribbon on it and let it go...not many choices here.  One of my clients had a sign right in front of her home that said "Go Back."  She didn't notice it, I did--that's what we did (she got a promotion shortly after :)

Suzanne, There are so many of them, I agree!  They could be worded better.  Thank you for your comment!

Irina, I'm not sure whey they'd need so many.  Perhaps there have been accidents?  I wish I could say.

Laurie, You can't take them down but I would write to Kate Murray, that's her district.  I've heard of her doing some wonderful things for people, it MIGHT help :)

Patti,I'm glad to hear you practice Feng Shui, I'm sure it will benefit you.  What I also found odd was what you pointed out...this picture was taken during the day (not a holiday) at about 2pm. WHY are there so many cars there?  I would work around this as well, doing the best I could do.  A very large Welcome sign would be a nice addition in there.

Melissa, Maybe the occupants have been there so long it they don't even notice.  But I'm wondering if they would have an issue when it's time to sell.

Gregory, A "T Junction" would actually be an easier fix then this, I believe.  I know, however, that they DO affect people, I've been to homes that have these and we've managed to deflect the energy.  Thank you for your comment.

JO, It is interesting, I can't say why there are so many.  I wonder if the owners requested them for some reason, it's definitely an unusual amount of signs!

Dennis, Perhaps some of the homes inside have less noise but the street in front is heavily congested....at all hours.  They're not set that far enough back that it would quiet all the trucks that come down that road.  Thank you for your comment.

Carol, I don't know, I wonder if they're afraid of accidents in there or if there had been some.  Putting up signs that say No Outlet might have been a better choice if that's the case.

Grace, To say the signs are overdone is an understatement.  I wondered if it would bother others or it was just me...and got my answer :)

Joan, Normally on Long Island no representative would help you but they DO have a good one in their area...it wouldn't hurt to try.  This might be the exception here rather then the rule.

Jem,Kathy is right, it was the Amityville Horror House---right here on Long Island.  Fortunately we have wonderful things like Jones Beach as well :)  Thank you for your comment!

Kim, I would imagine pulling in every night would affect my energy...unconsciously.  Other then blessing it, lights and Red, I can't imagine what else they can do.

Sally, The things that I mentioned above and one big Welcome sign are the only "fixes" I can think of.  Unless they can get them to change the signs.....here they are often "No Outlet" which would do the trick!

Kathy, I think it might be a dead end, it's difficult to tell :)  I didn't think about the Amityville Horror House, what else that's awful is Long Island known for?  Mt. Misery Road is the only other thing I could come up with....

Joan, I wonder if the paper would care.  Though the expanded Real Estate section might...I don't believe the owners are aware of maybe it gives them a sense of security (?).

Eric, I am curious too. But I couldn't knock on their doors, if they're unaware I wouldn't want to give them a negative impact.  I wonder when you see something so many times if you really LOOK at it?  Thank you for your comment.

Lisa, I wish I knew.  I wanted to really see if it bothered others and it does...and wonder if they added more over the years and the occupants don't really notice....Thank you for your comment.

Carole:  It's draining just looking at this picture.  How incredible.  I do not think I've ever seen another place with so many dead end signs.  I can't figure why they need so many.  I've seen corners with far too many real estate signs touting one development and another and it's just as bad.  Plus I think it makes us look bad too, to have so many signs in one place.  Really makes a mess of the landscape and gives an overall negative feel.  That's my humble opinion from this simple mountain gal anyway.

Carole--This is not a place that I would want to live...Kind of like a street in North Branch MN named Poor Farm Rd. Even if you are not superstitious, why would you choose to live in an area with a negative connotation?

Do you think someone was trying to make a point? Holy Cow!
Posted by Lysa Napolitano about 4 years ago

Donna, I know, it screams at me when I pass it!  I thought it just be me--I have no idea whey they would use so many signs, I do know it's a development that is about 25 years old or so when they were parcelling off some farms and one of the last ones gave out.  They subdivided it and put in this court....but never had so many signs.

Teri, We have a few 'poorly' named streets as well, I have no clue why they do that either---I wonder what they are thinking of?

Lysa, They MADE their point with that huge sign above....and kept adding :)  It sure got it across to me!

Carole- What a sad and depressing photo! That is negative energy expanding and filling those homes, I wonder how much discord within the homes there is as a result of this bad Feng Shui. Most of my family customers want to live on courts and culdesacs but all that I have learned about Feng Shui is that is not the best location for a home as the energy gets all pent up on that end of the road. Elizabeth, It is sad and depressing.  No stager would think of that....I did think about the fact that it was during the day on a weekday and so many people were home.  I do wonder if they feel stuck.

Katerina, It upsets me to just see it but I wonder if it somehow makes them feel protected?  Or if they had no control over it.....I don't know myself.  Energy "pools" in courts and cul-de-sacs, it doesn't have an easy flow which is why some people don't like them.  Many people DO like them because they're more quiet and "protected" feeling.

Carole, It makes me feel as if evil lurks behind those signs! The signs are almost SCREAMING at me. The stop sign itself holds such a presence within all the yellow one's. It made me feel as if I were a child walking towards a cliff and my panicked mother grabbed me back before I fell. Very strange. Very ominous. Very unwelcoming and very bad chi. Thanks for the shot and keep us "posted" (pun intended) and updated on this one. Have a great 2008. Deb

Carole-All of those signs in one place like that completely overwhelm me.  I can't even look at the picture too long or my OCD sets in and my cleaning tendencies start kicking in. LOL.  Have a wonderful weekend.

Debra, I know, it overwhelms me as well.  It's a shame, the homes look nice and well cared for, I just don't know if I could overlook all those signs while pulling in and out of MY home!  Thanks for your comment.

Julie, It's a shame, isn't it?  Funny that it bothers me so much and I didn't have a clue if it would bother others so much!  It does---I wish you a wonderful weekend as well!

Carole - I gather that energy "pooling" in courts is not a good thing? (can't take an energy bath ;-)

I like your idea of no more dead end signs - some communities around here say - No Outlet.

Posted by Matthew Rosov, Certified Mortgage Planning Specialist (Amerisave Mortgage Corporation) about 4 years ago

Hi Carole,

That is one street I sure would not want to live on. The signs are almost like posting of KEEP OUT or BEWARE. I wonder what the people that live there think of all the signs? I wonder if they even notice?

Posted by Trace Galle (Designs by Trace) about 4 years ago

Matthew, I agree, ours mostly say "no outlet."  Courts and cul-de-sacs are not the most auspicious places to live from a Feng Shui persepective as it's said energy doesn't flow freely, it "pools" inside.

Trace, My guess is they are so used to it they don't even notice anymore.  Or it may make them feel protected in some way.  For me it would not be good to come home to that every evening :)!
