There is a scene in "The Wizard of Oz" where the Wizard is speaking of people doing a Good Deed. He can't quite remember the name of them so he calls them ‘Good Deed Doers.' It was a wonderful lesson to learn way back then and it's always a wonderful thing to happen to you in YOUR life. A ‘Good Deed Doer' will come by, help you with what you need and they never require even a Thank you....
Some of us on Activerain try to do good deeds; not because we were asked to, just because we want to. And the very act of helping someone else out can make us feel wonderful. It's a true gift that you give because it's a gift of your TIME and there is nothing on earth more precious to you then your time. Time spent, for the most part should be doing the things you WANT to do, even if they don't directly benefit you.
I can honestly say both my children are good deed doers. They'll try to help out anyone in any way they can and their voice fills with pride when they tell me about it later. Digging a stranger out of the snow, stopping for someone who is stuck, even helping an elderly person cross the street, they will take time and help. With nothing asked in return, the return they DO get from it is just a good feeling. The kind of feeling that you can't really get from anywhere else.
Tonight someone was a ‘Good Deed Doer' to me. Our own ActiveRain doll, Grace Saffrin, took time out of HER busy schedule to help me learn how to post a YouTube. She saw that I couldn't do it on my Barry Manilow post and offered. I emailed her to thank her and warn her that I am the LEAST computer savvy person she will ever come across....and it didn't seem to matter. She gave me a very precious gift, her TIME.
Thank you, Grace for your time AND your patience, it is more appreciated then you know! In my first attempt to post a You Tube (which I had thought was U Tube) there is only one song that came to mind. We all need it, we all use it and we should all give it out---A little help-from my FRIENDS.

Carole - I am pretty tech savy but haven't seen or heard the process for posting a You Tube video so maybe you can do a good deed and point (or post) me in the right direction so I can figure this thing out. By the way - It seems like us good deed doers rarely get the attention, but that is okay because as you stated in your post we do what we do because it is who we are.
P.S. Listened to the song and loved the song choice.
Why don't ya' share how you put the video in and pass on the good deed??
LOVE the song selection!
Best to you and yours...
Some one did it a while ago and I forgot to save it...they were a young couple, wish I could remember...they said it in great detail...but if you could post a blog as well! I'll try to remember this time..
thanks,
Happy Holidays and good health!
Carole... now send her 1.5 million dollars for helping you... lol Seriously, there are many good deed doers on here... thanks for sharing this.
There are a few that would love to help...I certainly would...if I knew how!
Happy Holidays, Karen
Grace sent me this after my first few attempts and not getting it right. I'm still not sure what I kept doing wrong but I HATE to give up! And she is a doll to help me. So this might help everyone who doesn't know how! And I'm thrilled, maybe I CAN learn new things after all :)

John, Thank you for stopping in and commenting. People here can do some amazing things on their blogs and Grace was kind enough to offer to help me. I hope the tutorial she sent helps everyone.
Paige, That was the first song that came to my mind and FIT! I will likely start annoying everyone by adding songs all the time :)
Karen, Thank you for your comment. I was doing something wrong but finally it worked! I hope the above blog helps everyone, I thought I was the only one here :)
Sally, You have to love these friends, they are truly amazing. I think that's how we ALL get by (and SO glad to see you back!! You were missed)
Monika, Thank you so much, AR sure does rock and so do the people on it! I wanted a happy song that fit what Grace did and found it!
Dionne, Kudos to Grace, did I mention her PATIENCE? I can't learn when someone is impatient and she is a doll.
Jeff, I probably would if I could! There is nothing more precious to give then the gift of your time.
Joan, So many people know so many things, I swear I'm going to learn animation one day! I hope the tutorial helps you.
Kathy, It is a great song and this is a big accomplishment for me, I'm as "un techy" as they come!!
Carol, I don't know if I've EVER met such wonderful people---even those I haven't "met" yet. You are all friends.
Linda, Thank you! I believe I did it 5 times before it worked...but I did it :)!! Thank you for taking the time to comment.
Carole, You're the first and foremost good deed doer and giver of support here on AR..you're always there helping and greeting people. I remember you were the first person at AR to welcome me and make me feel at home....AR wouldn't be the same without you.
I'm so glad Grace helped you to post videos....I love that song!!

Carole,
Maybe after I come back from seeing my Father...going home 12/20 -12/27...I'm so glad to see my children and my family...
Hey though, Happy Holidays to you and a great 2008! I'll be with you...not giving up!
:-)
Carole,
You go girl! I agree with Candy that you are usually on the giving end, good to see you receiving.
I haven't posted a You Tube yet but I did experiment with it and found out I could do it. These things are not difficult once someone takes the time to guide you through the process. :0)
Jeff Turner posted a wonderful blog about embedding anything in your blog--step by step.
Carole,
Doesn't it feel great knowing the World has some pretty good people in it? One good deed deserves another.
Sincerely
Tom Braatz and Lars
Carole- I love to hear how others take time to help/share their experience and knowledge. I have had several people help me, and today Tom Platt sent me a mail telling me of a spelling error in my Title...well, maybe that's not as good as how to do a U Tube to some, but for me....Thank You Tom. Sally helped me big time with the Real Estate shows....thank You Sally......these were my most recent "Good Deed Dooers " :) :)
Carole you are ahead of me, I can't put the U Tube up yet :) :)

Jason, It took me about 5 tries. I figured next time I'll be down to only 4 :) But it's so much FUN when it finally works! Thank you for your comment.
Karen, I hope you have a wonderful time, we will miss you in the rain! And I'm glad to hear you don't give up, either. Happy Holidays!!
Candy, It wasn't that difficult but I have never done anything with HTML. And didn't even know what that other thing was :) I need someone who is patient or I get nervous and make it worse, Grace has the patience of a saint!
Fernando, A webcam? I don't believe it would work the same way...so you're WAY ahead of me.
Julie, It was very special for Grace to help me. Even knowing I had never done anything like it before, she is a true blessing as are many of the people on here!
