I didn't know we HAD book MeMe's until I was "tagged" by my lovely friend, Julie Neerings. We're supposed to limit it to FIVE books? Oh, well, I suppose I've broken a few rules before; why would this be different? Here's my list in no particular order. Each of these (and many more) have touched my life in different ways:
"You Can Heal Your Life" by Louise L. Hay I read this book many years ago and it is still as profound today as it was then.
"The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent by Living the Art of Allowing" More insights from Esther and Jerry Hicks
"The Sleeping Prophet: Edgar Cayce" by Jess Stern Another terrific old book; I believe I was about 17 when I read this and have been a member of ARE every since.
"Life After Life" by Raymond Moody Finally, some observations into what I believed for many years.
"Conversations with Morrie" by Robert Fulghum For anyone who's read this, I don't have to say another word. If you haven't, I strongly suggest it.
"The Gift of Fear" by Gavin De Becker Reminds you to ALWAYS listen to the voices, feelings, warning and your inner voice.
"The Power of Intention" by Wayne W. Dyer So true!
I saved one for last because I have a story to go with it, one that affected me greatly. The book is: "Crossing Over"by John Edward, a native New Yorker from Long Island. I had been watching Crossing Over since it was on The Sci Fi Channel and later when it went to prime time. This particular self proclaimed Medium facinated me. I read this a few years after the incident.
I was at one of the many schools I attended and was running late getting back to class after lunch. I was running though the front of a car wash and heard my name. I turned around to see who it was but didn't recognize anyone and started to leave. I heard my name again and a woman approached me. "It's me, Carole, Mary." I felt terrible that I didn't know her, she had been my daughter's teacher for two years and her tutor as well and was a driving and wonderful force in her life. Her next sentence said it all "I lost my Andy." Andy was one of her sons and the love of her life. He had been in a horrible accident while driving his bicycle right near his home and was killed.
In the book "Crossing Over" there is an entire chapter devoted to Mary Miracolo and her son Andy. He came through to a woman who had driven past the scene of the accident not long after it happened and came through during her reading....so much was the grief that Mary had over her loss. John Edward traced her to the funeral home and they delivered a message to her. Andy came through in a strong and powerful way for his mother and family during that reading with very specific things for his family. The book also recounts that later, during John's Honeymoon, he came through so strongly again he felt compelled to call Mrs. Miracolo. Apparently at another time she very much needed to hear it. I last saw this wonderful and amazing woman back and doing what she did best, teaching and inspiring. The readings and information that came through gave her much peace and comfort as she has NO DOUBTS that was her Andy. I had my own brief experience with John Edward that left no doubt in my mind there are some people walking among us with very special gifts---and that our loved ones are always around us.
I am going to tag:
Jo-Anne Smith
Sheron Cardin
Deborah Pearce

An interesting list Carole...I have actually read two of them!
I used to watch John Edward all the time but his show seems to have disappeared! He is amazing...his show was so hopeful!
Carole ~ thank goodness these are books we have already read...all my eyes do is water now.
Lauri and all who read here...you can get just about any book you can think of at Bookins. They are free and all you pay is the shipping of $4.50
OK, I will get to my list now.
Carole, I've enjoyed reading this book meme so much....certainly not your ordinary book meme, well I expect not, look who wrote it!!
I've read Gavin's book The Gift of Fear(helped me immensely to remove a stalker from my life and I highly recommend it too), Wayne Dyer's book The Power of Intention, and I'm sad to say, none of the others. Looks like I've got a great list now for my next library visit..thank you!
Your story of Mary's son coming back with a message through someone else reminded me so much of an experience I once had...something similar. Perhaps I'll blog about it. It sounds like Laura has had some wonderful teachers through the years!
((-:
Jo (book meme coming up on Wednesday or so this coming week...I enjoy writing about books, thanks)
Carole - I didn't realize there was a book meme - huh. I've read all but The Gift of Fear, but know from personal life experience to listen to those voices, so I'm not surprised - I'll have to get that book.
Sheron, I didn't know about bookins - I'm joining - I'm a bookaholic!
Jackie
"lulita" = misspelling of the book Lolita written by Vladimir Nabokov
Gee Thanks Carole! you have quite an interesting list of books, among which we have several in common and among which are few, if any non-fiction. We have similar reading habits.
'Life After Life' is one that clarified for me many years ago, my own 'Life After Life' experience, so it has had significant impact on my life views and beliefs.
Wayne Dyer is simply brilliant and impacts my chosen walk.
The titles I am not familiar with look very interesting - enough to look up!
Are these to be posted to the Meme's group?
Joan, Hi, His show is still on, check Woman's Television (WE) in your area. He's also wonderful in person if you ever get the chance :)
Laurie, Some of these books go back to the 70's and you can probably get them for next to nothing. I loved them all.
Sheron, I forgot about Bookins and keep going to Amazon....How should I not have guessed you've read them all? I'm looking forward to you list.
Jo, I'm surprised you haven't read more of these, I think you would like them. Some are old but they were groundbreaking "back in the day." I would love to read a blog about your experience---I've got one as well that was pretty interesting though not with him.
Candace, I'm sorry to say I don't even have an IPOD but these books were all wonderful! I hope you get a chance to read another one of two from the list. I wasn't aware of the Book MeMe either until Julie tagged me.
Candy, I always thought we had a lot in common from your posts and comments :) I loved all these books, it was a difficult choice and I still went over the limit (5).
Jackie, You will love that book, I do hope you order it. I have to check the site Bookins, I remember Sheron had mentioned it but had forgotten. Good luck and I hope you enjoy it!
Deborah, Yes, they go into the MeMe group. You Can Heal Your Life by Louise L. Hay is old...and priceless. I loved that book, I'd say if you only get one to order that.
Loretta, Hi, I haven't seen you and wondered how you are. I loved these books and hope you get a chance to read some of them if you haven't. You're more then welcome!
Katerina, I'm so glad you liked many of the same books, I have Ask and it is Given as well. Dr. Dyer is an inspiration and Louise Hay wrote other books as well but I believe this was her first---and best! I have to try and find your book MeMe, I'm not sure if I read it.
One day I am going to have time for pleasure reading again. I have a wish list for when that time comes and I am adding these to it. Thank you.
I see we have been reading a number of the same books. I guess great minds think alike. The Law of Attraction in work.
Also, thanks for reading a commenting on Three of My Active Rain Friends Have Featured Posts Today: Read and Learn
Cynthia, I know how diffuicult it is to find the time, isn't that a shame? I used to read at night and still do but now I fall asleep a lot faster :)
Teri, I loved these books. Although some were old they were groundbreaking at the time....and there's so many more!
Diane, I don't know who started the MeMe book idea but start thinking about YOUR favorite books. It's so difficult to choose.
Dan, Great minds read alike is probably more like it :) You're posts are always enlightening.
Julie, Thank you so much for "tagging" me, it was interesting to try and think about my all time favorites there have been so many. I'm sure you felt the same way and KNOW I missed some key ones. John Edward actually did a brief reading on me while I was in the Gallery---another family took it but it was SO amazing!
Karen, I was suprised that some people did not know of Edgar Cayce. I don't know who has healed more people and have never heard such amazing, documented evidence. I have been a member of ARE (Association for Reasearch and Enlightenment) for years and look forward to the newslettters. One day I will get to Virginia Beach to see it.
