When educating our clients about the Principles of Feng Shui and the variety of Methods, interesting conversations come about. A client on Long Island New York shared his views on what family meant to him.  He said, when I think of family I think of those who I am biologically related to only. 

This is absolutely true, because they are the ones who literally bring you and greet you into this wonderful world.  From a Feng Shui perspective the idea of Family is based on the immediate members, but also those who have supported you through out life when biological family can not always be there.

Being an adopted child has allowed me to view this concept in a different light because right from the start I see that my brother and I have been blessed to have many different family members from around the world. For example, The mother who brought me into this world literally and the mother who nurtured, mentored, loved, cared and guided my brother and I as far as she could physically.  She taught us, your immediate family comes first always and foremost.  Those who help guide you, protect you, give you stability and advice can be considered family as well.
