Long Island NY Feng Shui DESIGN....Where's Your Vision? A Feng Shui Makeover in Mineola Long Island New York
Laura Cerrano of Feng Shui Manhattan New York and I both loved Karen, our Feng Shui Client who had just moved into a Small Co-op in Mineola Long Island NY.
Despite battling breast cancer, Karen had an upbeat attitude and positive outlook. "I'm gong to be FINE with a little Feng Shui." Karen was downsizing from a large home in Great Neck to this small Co-op in Mineola for the year she thought she'd need to get her treatments.
After that, she said, she wanted to move to "Sunny Florida." Karen also gave us a list of RULES in Re-Designing her Space on Long Island with Feng Shui
- Certain items STAYED. She didn't care if they "fit" or not, she loved them and she wanted them.
- Aside from the Cost of the Feng Shui Consultation, she wasn't going to spend a
PENNY. Not one single Cent.
Sleeping facing OUT. Notice the mirrors in the dining area..."pushing" her outside of her Space. Poor Feng Shui.
We could hardly blame her....she wanted a Make Over with Feng Shui Principles that would help her heal and after that, she was leaving. When doing Design with or without Feng Shui, you sometimes need to have a real Vision. It helps me to put myself in my client's "shoes" if I can to see what she is feeling and realize that your surroundings affect you in a positive or negative attitude. Surround yourself with things you LOVE.
Two Rooms to work with in Feng Shui for Dining, Sleeping. Working and Feng Shui Healing. Couch which she slept on is facing outside. Blocked Energy and no room for healing.
"Just FIX it" was what she said....and we did. Karen chose the pieces of Furniture and Accessories she wanted to keep and the rest could go into storage. Almost every one of our suggestions for this Feng Shui Makeover was a challenge. She'd gotten used to sleeping in a certain way and liked the couch where it was.
Opening UP a Space with things you LOVE. A place for sleeping, working, eating, resting and Healing in Feng Shui.
Just telling someone they need to move something for Good Feng Shui doesn't help...they need a reason behind it. We explained to Karen that she needed to "Open Up" her Health Area which was weighed down by the couch and dresser. In Feng Shui Makeovers, we need to leave room for the new Energy.
After a bit of a battle but in keeping every one of the pieces Karen wanted, she decided to take our suggestions and open up the Spaces for Feng Shui Healing. She didn't spend a dime and had a friend of hers move some of the larger pieces of furniture under Laura's and my direction.
Using what your client has....and making it WORK :)
I spoke with Karen after the Feng Shui Consultation and she was feeling much better, despite the treatments. Within the year, she gave up her Co-op and was happily relocated to "Sunny Florida." Her breast cancer was gone.

I thank my very special Feng Shui clients who allow me to use their names and their real stories. They do it to inspire others to the true Healing Force of Good Feng Shui. The Tri State Area Feng Shui Consultants.

Very interesting Carole and I like your posts!
VB ;o)
Carole
Wow, what a huge difference. All that light coming in now, the decluttered rooms, and more energy. Huge difference.
Truly, amazing. I like the way you see "space"....
All I can say is Wow! about everything.
Your story gave me goose-bumps Carole. I've been doing a lot of reading about Feng Shui and trying to implement things in baby steps. Love this example of how it WORKS!
Carole - great story and I am so glad your friend is a survivor! I always learn from your posts, and I love how the room was transformed!
Carole--Thanks so much for this wonderful post. It has helped me understand Feng Shui a little more especially with the Before and After photos.
Carole, as always great post. I have done a re-design for an office and used Feng Shui, I really like working within that creative space.
Carole - What a miraculous looking change and improvement! I also like that you kept so many of her original things, and colors! I can feel the improved energy all the way here to Sacramento!
Thank you, Bob, I always enjoy yours as well! Never a dull picture over there and I'm looking forward to your trip!!
Tom, A difficult accomplishment but she kept all the pieces she loved and wanted....and made an amazing recovery in record time.
Sea to Sky, I think I do see "Space" a little differently than some...we were taught to use "Feng Shui Eyes."
Debra, It came out well...so did my lovely client who allowed me to share everything!
Ginger, It does work and it's not difficult to implement into home staging at all....if you ever have any questions, you are more then welcome to call!
Sharon, We definitely had to work together on this...but it's Energy and we all put in the best!
Mary, It's why we are always speaking of decluttering....We need that room and that's what my lovely client realized.
Mary Lou, If you've incorporated Feng Shui into your design, that place will prosper. It' so nice to hear this and you'll be able to see it grow!
Myrl, It was a challanging transformation but we did it all without spending any money and giving her a space she loved to help heal in.
Hi Carole,
The room before and after look much more enticing & warm for sure!!! I love reading your blogs... THANKS Carole... ;>))
Carole,
Wow, what a beautiful feng shui makeover you did for her....I could feel the energy flowing and the peacefulness just from looking at the pictures.
I'm so glad to hear that things turned out good for her.
Jo
What a wonderful transformation of her living space - and what a great happy ending!
Hi Carole...wow, you certainly created more space..I bet Laura is pleased.
Hi Carole,
What a bright, cheery, and transformed home! Are there times when a client insists on certain things that go against your Feng Shui principles that you have to decline a consultation?
Hi Carole, you guys did an awesome job! I'm glad it all worked out for her :)
Carole,
The visual improvements you and Laura made were worth the work. The wonderful news about Karen's recovery and move to Florida are extraordinary results!
Great job Carole! God bless you for helping people and bringing good energy for their homes!
Carole: I love your posts when you show the before and after. Wow! What a difference.
Hi Carole, I really like how you gave your client an explanation of why. I agree we just can't say move this here and there but we have to explain why and reasons for it. This knowledge can help them in the future and it's empowering for the client also.
Glad to hear of the wonderful outcome for Karen!
Carole- Beautiful post on 2 counts: (1)the transformation of the co-op into a livable space and the fact that you took the time to "hear" what your client was saying and you took the time to explain to her the "whys" of what you were suggesting. and (2) I'm so happy for your client and her good news.
Carole ~ you and Laura showed such sensitivity and compassion for your client and truly were instruments in her healing. It's wonderful to see your photos too, which illustrate the amazing transformation you made for her. You've shown the importance of having things around you that you LOVE. Thank you for sharing this inspiring story!
Hi Carole:
Keep up the great work.
I enjoy seeing before and after photos!
What a difference!
From the desk of David Dee,
Carole, there is a big difference in the arrangement. I like the way the sofa was re-arrange towards the wall as it provides better foundation and support which yields great positive flow because of the steadiness it creates. It now has a more balanced and open feel to it. :D
I am very glad to hear that Karen is doing well! Also, sooo impressed with the transformation of her living space. The before and after photos are amazing.
Another awesome post--Carole!! I really love how you shared with us the before and after photos. You truly made a huge difference!!
Great story, Carole! Now, I noticed a cute kitty on the couch in the before photo and on the rocking chair for the after photo. And I'm wondering if that was a deliberate thing other than keeping which hairs off of a dark red sofa?
GREAT story and given her guidelines....it looks amazing and I'm sure she will have many peaceful hours in this home!!!
Thank you ALL so much for your lovely comments....I apologize that I haven't been on Activerain in a few days to come back and answer each one individually. I am very fortunate when my clienta allow me to show photos....most don't really like it because it's their personal living space.
Karen was gracious enough to allow the pictures and her own personal story and I'm grateful to her. Just to let you know, the "kitty" wasn't a prop, she had two lovely cats. They went where they were most comfortable :) But just the two rooms opened up the space for healing...and she made it in record time!
Thank you again and I apologize for the one comment, I try not to do that!
What an awesome story Carole. Real life stories always make the best examples. So glad to hear Karen is well and happy in Florida!
WOW!!!! What a beautiful transformation!!
Al and Peggy, As am I, that's what she wanted...a happy ending to this story :)
Cathy, everything was already in their space it just needed to be rearranged more efficiently to open up their apartment.
Carole, I enjoyed the story and the pictures. Great post. Thanks for sharing.
Wow what a difference Carol. I am glad you guys were able to help this person out!
Wow, Carole. You had me at, "she didn't want to spend a dime!" You were able to both educate her and help achieve her goals. I am so glad she is doing well and has moved on to her dream location.
Gita, Your Welcome I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Bill, It's amazing how simple changes can open up the space. It felt really good and Karen was very happy after wards.
Deena, me too, It's so rewarding to see clients reach and go beyond their set goals. The possibilities can be endless :)
Hi Carole...The room looks so much more peaceful and more welcoming. You did a great job. I probably would have put the couch where Karen did simply because I love looking outside. However, her home looks much roomier now and I can see why it would be impede the flow of energy.
You and Laura were very helpful in Karen's healing process. Good for you and good for her!
Kate
Kate, Thank you, especial when you have health problems you want to make sure the center of you home or apartment is open, light and airy so that the energy can flow through. this was a must for Karen's situation.
