Fresh turkey anyone? After a Feng Shui consultation in Cold Spring Harbor Long Island NY Laura Cerrano of Feng Shui Manhattan New York and I came across a group of Wild Turkeys. I have to say, they were very cute. I'm also not at ALL sure I want to eat them at Thanksgiving anymore. Animals in Feng Shui are pure FIRE Energy!
I would like to share a short History about our friendly Long Island Turkeys; well if you consider pecking your car friendly. During the 19th Century on Long Island, turkeys were hunted to near extinction. In 1992 a gentlemen by the name of Mark Lowery helped reintroduce turkeys back to Eastern Long Island NY. Today our fine feathered friends are thriving. If your looking for some really good tasting turkey, Laura and I suggest trying Zorn's in Bethpage Long Island NY..this is a Long Island Landmark that has been around since 1940.

I have wild turkeys visiting my yard here in Asheville on a regular basis. But they are not as fluffy...Is it something in the Long Island air ? =)

Hi Carole: Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I don't think those are wild turkeys. They look more like Guinea Fowl. Very large ones, to be sure. And yes they are edible, if you are so inclined:o)

Carole--I was about to say that these 'turkeys' look different than the ones in my back yard. Then I read your corrections. I have never seen Guinea Fowl so you have added to my knowledge. Thanks--what we don't learn here in the Rain.
OK, first off, I've been to Cold Spring Harbor hundreds of times and I never saw any wild turkeys roaming the streets! How did you manage to see these guys?!!!
And, lastly, you are so right about Zorns! They are without question the best place for turkey or chicken!

Carole - Guinea Fowl and Wild Turkeys are both members of the same family .... "The guineafowl (sometimes called guineahen) are a family of birds in the Galliformes order" from Wikipedia .... as are wild turkeys
