A Feng Shui Consultant on Long Island NY…Part Two, 1997 by Feng Shui Long Island and New York
I’d done it. I’d completed my Feng Shui Certification Classes and all the extra ones I had signed up for and I was ready to work. Unfortunately, back in 1997 almost no one knew what Feng Shui WAS….or worse, they had terrible misconceptions of it.
With a Long Island NY home and two children to support, I went back to my “old” life. I began to adapt Feng Shui Principles in my home and in my office and soon felt a profound difference in my life.
Feng Shui Principles are closely related to “The Secret” and the “Law of Attraction” and I wanted MORE. I noticed my attitude beginning to change to being able to focus on the positive and thought about a Website. I the early years of websites my designer said: “Let me be CLEAR, a Website won’t BRING you business but it will help you look more professional." But I was moving forward.
And Transformations were taking place.
No one could have seen the future. Eventually my attitude and way of seeing things through what we call “Feng Shui Eyes” began to affect the Children and I saw positive changes in them as well. I worked, word spread and finally I decided to try my hand at writing articles.
Back then in the world of Feng Shui, that may have been my “turning point.” People found them and read them with interest. I recall dragging Laura at the age of 16 to a Feng Shui Consultation on Long Island with me and she immediately became even more focused. Soon she looked forward to going and meeting the wonderful clients and I’d be able to share all the wonderful updates they sent me or called me with.
Finally, I took the “leap.” I felt as if I were diving into a sea of darkness not knowing what was to come but I quit my secure job and began to do Feng Shui full time. Despite it’s struggles in the early years, I have never looked back. Laura went on to study with other Mentors (some of the same ones I had myself) and accompanied me to my Feng Shui Consultations which expanded to New York City Feng Shui, Queens NY and Brooklyn NY. We even do Feng Shui in Provincetown, MA in the Spring and Summer!
Feng Shui in Provincetown and Cape Cod Massachusetts.
Referrals came and so did speaking engagements for Feng Shui. I often tell Laura Cerrano of Feng Shui Manhattan New York that I helped put Feng Shui on the map….she’s the one who can use all her knowledge to help others (and she does!).
Not believing in yourself or not following your passions are, to me, the ultimate waste of Energy; you will always wonder where you MIGHT have gone. I no longer have to wonder, I have helped spread the word about Feng Shui and many of you have been a part of that journey! The wonderful people that read me, subscribe to me, comment for me and, of course, this wonderful platform for writing from the heart have inspired me to keep hoping to inspire YOU : )

Carole--I am one of the people who has been inspired by you since we 'met last year' via ActiveRain. Your posts and your pictures give me a sense of serenity and calmness. I plan to continue reading more so keep writing. I appreciate your comments on my site.
Hi Carole:
Congratulations! I'm very proud of you...
I always enjoy learning about Feng Shui.
You're the best!
Hi Carole,
I do think we tend to stay within our comfort zones concerning important decisions such as changing careers. It took a lot of courage and pluck for you to give up that regular source of income Carole, and start your Feng Shui business on Long Island. You took the time to educate yourself and to take the leap of starting your own business. That is what has made this a great country.
Besides your wonderful writing, I hope you will share in future blogs how you CREATED A DEMAND for a product unkown to most people in the late 90's.
Hi Carole - I honestly don't know much about Feng Shui but plan on reading your posts to learn. Thank you!
What a wonderful success story Carole. How rewarding to have your daughter at the young age of 16 be aware enough to follow you. Congratulations! As Mary said please keep writing because we enjoy writing.
You are incredible and I am sure that you have been a great mentor for Laura. I have learned so much about feng shui and have taken many of your recommedations to heart.
From the desk of David Dee,
Carole, congrats on following your dreams and achieving them. That's nice to have your daughter follow in your foosteps.
I like the line where you had written "not believing in yourself or not following your passions are, to me, the ultimate waste of Energy; you will always wonder where you MIGHT have gone." Brilliant statement and how true that is. If one does not believe in oneself to the fulfillment of the untapped potential in oneself, how can one ever know his/her own true magnification? Believing in oneself is one thing but following through the passions via actionable steps is the underlying catalyst that can take the dream and manifest it into reality.
We want to look back in times later in life and say to ourselves, "yes, I did my best and there is no regrets. I've accomplished what I had laid out before me to get to where I am now." Always look back at one's own life without regrets. It will be the most satisfying thing to do when reminiscing about the life trails one has left behind. To live without fears and face it head on without trepidation is what separate success from failure. Take the calculated risks and the only limits are limitless. Belief, faith, and actions must co-exist for the fruits of the labor to unveil. Thanks for the reminder to take the 'leap'. :D
You've come a long way, but way I detect in your post here is "persistence and consistency." As long as one is not persistently and consistently negative, persistence and consistency can do a lot of one's life and business.
Nice picture of the butterfly. You are right about believing in your self and being persistent. You must believe...
Helping you help others live their American dream...
Hi Carole,
You definintely are in the right place. Your love for the art of feng shui and for other people is evident in your posts. Thank you for being our Feng Shui Expert.
Hi Carole, you certainly put Feng Shui on the map for Long Island. But what matters most, is that you love it and love helping people and we all know it comes back to you in spades :) If it weren't for you being here, we wouldn't be friends :)
Mary, I always enjoy your posts and your pictures....and your support. I don't know if I would have remained on AR if it weren't for wonderful people such as yourself.
Toula, Thank you...I always enjoy writing about my favorite subject....with a little bit about the places I get to visit along the way.
Bruce, That's a wonderful idea but honestly, it was trial and error. In the beginning especially a lot more errors. But I would love to write about it and thank you for the suggestion and kind words.
Elyse, I'm so glad to hear it. I hope it touches something inside that will make you want to make a few changes!
Al & Peggy, Thank you. I don't believe I chose this as a profession, I believe it chose me. With Laura she was ready to do some other things but is so drawn to this work and it's what she loves as well.
Joan, I hope at least some of the recommendations have worked. I am only able to post basics, really, but once started, they can begin to take off on their own flow. I wish I could really get into the deeper parts of Feng Shui but it's not possible in blogs.
David, You said it better than I ever could have. I do remember thinking that I would wonder my whole life, if I had not taken the steps to do this work full time if I would have regretted it. I knew I would have. Still, it is frightening not just putting yourself on the line but your children and a home. Thankfully I never did look back.
Russell, I think I adapted a do everything I can think of motivation in the beginning. I tried many things that failed and some that succeeded. It was a difficult thing to be sort of "cut loose" like that and sometimes just floating was good enough :)
Michael, I found that beauty up in Provincetown. It is one of my favorite pictures because it allowed me to get so close and because butterflies (to me) mean trasformation.
Marzena, What a nice compliment, thank you! It's so nice to have a "designation" on here :)
Jackie, I can't tell you how much that meant to Laura and myself that you came out in that weather to attend our lecture! Talk about a FRIEND! I'm the lucky one.
Carole, excellent post on your journey. And now your daughter works with you. Fantastic photo to illustrate your point. New life, transformation.
Carole,
You're a phenomenal testament to the strength of believing in one's self, determination, perseverance, positive thinking and having faith.
I really do believe that you have put Feng Shui on the map here in the USA and Canada...you're the best!
Jo
Carole, It's great to look back and see where you've come from. You should be proud of yourself for what you have built for yourself and for your family. It takes a lot of hard work, focus and a vision. It couldn't have been done without you believing in yourself. Great job!
Congratulations!! I always enjoy your posts. You also take such gorgeous pictures too. You have such a love for art.
Carole - I'm very proud to know you and to hear of your accomplishment in reaching this important goal. CONGRATULATIONS!
Such a fitting butterfly graphic too. . .Butterflies are a delightful symbol of transformation!
Thank you for sharing your story. You've certainly helped educate so many of us on feng shui.
Carole, congratulations on all your hard work . You certainly have put Feng Shui on the map, and not just in NYC, but all over the country via you Active Rain post. Thanks for everything I"ve learned from you.
Missy, Definitely a Transformation :)
Jo, It's one of my hopes...to have gotten the word out about FS
Sandy, It is great to look back. I know if I chose something else I would never have been as happy.
Lizette, Thank you....quite a journey we've ALL been on!
Myrl, That's why I used it...I captured it in Provincetown last summer.
Penny, Thank you....for reading and stopping in to comment.
Linda, You're welcome...it's so nice to know I've done a part in letting people know about it.
