So, Now You're a Certified Feng Shui Consultant! By Feng Shui Long Island & New York
I remember so well attending the very first Certification Classes in Feng Shui Studies way back in 1996 by the very first school that was Licensed and Accredited to offer them. And I reflect today on just how many things have changed.
In 1996 we were afforded the Real Masters of Feng Shui from a variety of different schools of methods of Feng Shui. Our graduating class came from across the County with only 3 of us actually living in New York where the course was being held.
Inside the Very Beautiful Monestary by HHH Professor Lin Yun, Old Westbury Long Island New York.
In between classes on Special Weekend Intensives we had the further opportunity to study with even MORE of the best mentors from across the world, flown in to teach, reach and inspire us all in their different and very unique ways.
We learned The Black Sect Method, The Compass Method, Western Methods and The Form School. We studied the I Ching and were able to attend certain extra classes on incredible Space Clearings and Blessings. There were 33 students and, unfortunately, many never went on to actually work at the career they loved.
At the Lin Yun Monestary in 1997, graduation Day!
We had to learn floor plans and submit them and find our own projects which were critiqued carefully by our Mentors. We were taken out into "the field" to first see how Feng Shui Consultations were performed and then try to evaluate the homes and businesses ourselves from a Feng Shui Perspective and incorporate changes we believed should be made.....and WHY. We were taught about Intention, Mindfulness and NonJudgment and we were taught that our purpose was to help others and inspire them.
Classes for Feng Shui Certifications now are offered online in some cases. You read a book or two and you get a Certificate in the Mail. Some of the Feng Shui Schools still adhere to a rigid schedule but a large amount of that is now the ever important, ever present "Marketing." I agree how important that is but I have to ask, are they getting LESS Feng Shui?
The day finally came. 33 Hopeful Feng Shui Consultant Graduates and our Graduation was held at the Lin Yun Monastery in Old Westbury Long Island New York. That in itself was a thrill. We were not told that day that his High Holiness Professor Lin Yun was flying in to speak to the first group of Feng Shui Consultants in the County and give is a special blessing.
Receiving a Special Blessing at my 10 Year Anniversary of becoming a Certified Feng Shui Consultant ....HHH Professor Lin Yun 2007.
And then, it was over. My fellow graduates flew back home to their own homes and we were "cut loose." No marketing at all. Some of us returned to our old jobs and practiced on weekends.

It's time, I thought, to try to get the word of Feng Shui out there....but How?
To be Contined................

Hi Carole,
CONGRATULATIONS!!! Education creates smarts and smarts creates wisdom... ;>))
Wow, I didn't realize this was such an in-depth course of study. No wonder you have such wonderful success stories to tell about turning people's lives around.
Hi Carole, great story about your Feng Shui education. I love the photos!
I love this post, Carole! What an intensive program.
Carole - thanks for sharing your information about your training, and graduation. Congratulations. To get the word out - continue what you are doing - use the social networks. I know when I think of feng shui - I think of you.
Oh, I think you've done a wonderful job of getting the word out about Feng Shui.
Love the photos of you at your graduation!
Hi Carole - I had no idea your training was so extensive. No wonder you are the STAR at what you do! And I agree - you do a wonderful job getting the word out :)

Hi Carole! About how many hours did you have invested in your Feng Shui certification? I would imagine with our "Less is More" mentality that the individuals becoming "certified" today do not put anywhere the amount of time or intensity that you and your original classmates did.
I love your graduation photo with your long and flowing hair. Does Feng Shui apply to how one dresses?
Carole..I just love when you explain the details of being a certified FENG SHUI and all the work and dedication that goes into it...Thank You
HELPFULHANNAH
Hi Ann-Marie, Let's hope I have some of that by now :) It's been a wonderful journey.
Jane, Feng Shui is very intensive. Many of the courses you don't have to take but I wanted to know everything :)
Jackie, The old 35mm....and low light conditions :( I do wish they came out better but considering their age...
Irene, It was and it was wonderful. I do miss hearing from lots of old classmates and wonder if they persued it.
Sharon, What a nice thing to say. I don't use the social networks as much as I can except for here mostly because I'm so busy and on so many sites but I know they can help!
Craig, That was one old photo. I am trying to get the group one I have restored (we're talking OLD :)
Debi, We learned things I had never heard of....Bio Biologie (which is electro magnetic energy and going green). Quite progressive for 1996!
Bruce, The good old days. Depending on what type of "Certification" someone want to go for can make a huge difference in the amount of knowledge they will have when they are done. And yes, btw. There is Feng Shui for Beauty which is gaining in popularity.
Hannah, I am still learning and still taking workshops or classes when there are some wonderful true Masters I can get to.....the learning never ends.
Hey, Carole- I need a brush up!
You blogged once about a front door and back door being visible to eachother, and had tricks to avoid that money in, money out danger of this set up, but I forget what the thing was that's supposed to stop the money from going right from the front door to the back- honestly, ever since I read that, I've been afraid of my doors! Would you mind reminding me of the solution? I only trust the real deal, and in Feng Shui, that's you!
Carole,
You certainly received the very best education and training possible in Feng Shui and are the most qualified and talented consultant I know (with Laura following closely in your footsteps)...
beautiful photos!
Jo
