This is right in Val Allocco's beautiful home town, Northport, Long Island and the Feng Shui that scared my client. I will call her Linda. I didn't know Linda prior to meeting her, but I did know OF her. We both belong to a common group and have a few friends in common. Still, I was surprised that she called for a consultation (and WISH I had taken pictures that day).
First of all, I love Northport. I am almost never there but if you'd like to hear a bit about it, Val recently put up a post A Perfect Summer Daythat you would enjoy. I actually didn't get lost (my pre GPS days) and met a sweet young woman, married with two young children. Her home was beautiful and well decorated and I asked her who had decorated it. She had, she is an avid watcher of HGTV and had called me primarily for the new office space she was setting up downstairs so her business would be successful.
I always address the whole house while paying particular attention to any home that has an office in. As we spoke and I was giving her the principles of Feng Shui, I could see that she was just "getting it" faster then most. When clients are already in tune, I can give them more information then I can get to most people. Linda I gave a lot to, I might have overwhelmed her a bit. She didn't know anything about the history of the house but felt it was "bad luck." Almost from the day she moved in, she said, she'd had problems with a neighbor over a tree. Since Linda is a very sweet, mindful person I could see this distressed her. Money was an issue, her relationship was good she said.
One of the things I always tell my clients is that RED is the Aupicious Color for Feng Shui and 9 is the Auspicious Number. She wasn't quite sure was auspicious was---after all, it's not a word you hear every day (except in Feng Shui). We worked on many things that day and downstairs where her new office as going to be, I was delighted. I found things I thought were treasures and everything I mentioned she had planned to throw out...She had a round table clock that was unique, two chairs that didn't quite match but were about the same size and shape and we had our "waiting" area. Chair covers and that table would be ideal. She also had a small bar made out of wood....it reminded me of a Tiki Bar. She was going to get rid of that as well and I suggested she keep it and can have coffee for clients there. The wall behind it was perfect for an impact wall and directly faced the entrance...her FAME area. Red is the color we use with fame and since she had two aquariums there, it would help to balance the elements as well.
After going through everything and doing the blessings I left. I heard from her that night. Her cat had gotten out (she said I didn't do it but she may have just been being polite) and a neighbor she did not know called her (from his tag) and insisted she bring him back....when she got there, she had known the previous owners of the home and it's history...it was a very happy house, she said, and very much loved. As they got to speaking she also mentioned that she had just completed a book---called "The Auspicious Goat." (The reason for the title is that it is the oldest living goat. Linda was surprised by this "coincidence" and wanted to let me know. I told her there are NO coincidences.
This, briefly, is what happened over the next two weeks: Her employee quit suddenly and without notice. "Coincidentally" she received a call that same day from someone looking for placement through one of her groups; and she was perfect for the job just vacated....She had a new employee that same day. After addressing her Relationship area she went to a place she had been in dozens and dozens of times looking for a photo album that she hadn't seen in two years. She hadn't gone there that day for that but it was there and she found it, finally and was thrilled....and nervous. She relayed each and every incident to me and I told her not to back off, she needed to keep with the flow that was happening. I've seen this before, where things start to change almost immediately and it's not a time to stop, you break the synchronicity. The final straw? Her husband was adopted and had been looking for his family for many years....and found them.
So many things happening so quickly made Linda just stop making changes, it truly scared her and my urging her to continue didn't help. I was so sorry to see this, it's happened but rarely and when these people that are in the minority but have so many things happen so soon have tremendous success when they keep with it. I kept thinking of the potential of her new business.
I have a strong feeling I will hear back from her one day but the flow has been broken. If you call a consultant or even make changes yourself and unexpected things start to happen, DON'T BACK OFF! Keep up with the changes and don't let Feng Shui Scare you away! It's certainly nothing to be scared of, it's the amazing power of Feng Shui.

Intriguing story, Carole. It is a bit frightening when so many amazing and good things start happening all at once. I am wondering if perhaps she became slightly overwhelmed with so many changes and needed to rest for a bit. They say that good occurrences are just as stressful as bad on many levels. I agree with Cheri that you will likely be hearing from her again in the not too distant future.
I hope you have a wonderful and peaceful Sunday,
Jo
Bob & Carolin, Thank you, I hope so. I think I gave her too much information that day and when the everything happened so fast, she just backed off...
Cheri' Thank you for your comment. I'm Catholic and Feng Shui does not go against anything I believe in; Feng Shui is more based on Intention and The Law of Attraction so it does not conflict with any religion that I am aware of. It has been used all over the world for thousands of years, sometimes under different names but the basic principles are the same.
Jo, I would love to hear from her and I think sometime in the future I will. But it frustrated me because she "lost of flow." I had a realtor I worked with online that posted an acknowledgement for me. She blessed her home on a Saturday, got two new listings and sold her home on Monday---and it didn't stop. I asked HER to slow down, I was afraid she was going to get sick. She didn't slow down, though and she's fine!
Teri, Red is a "lucky" color in Feng Shui and the accent color we use for the Element Fire. Color choices are so personal and I happen to love red. If you're not sure you may want to do an impact wall in red. You can see some examples of red on my website or on my post, she has her kitchen painted red. The post is (I believe) "Some people just GET IT." I wouldn't advise on a whole room in trying to sell a home but I would advise on Red accents (pillows, candles, etc) to bring out the Fire element.
Carole, that's wonderful ! About the realtor you worked online with, I mean. My Mother brought me back a beautiful red silk tablecloth with golden tassels from China when she went a few years back. She also bought me a beautiful watch that has a red face. The watch ran on one battery for almost 4 years ! I am not a huge fan of red, however sometimes as an accent it is very attractive.

I am truly amazed with Feng Shui. Unfortunately my life became unbelievably busy with a sick parent, children and my business. Communication came to a stand still for me.
By chance Carole and I came in contact with each other by an unbelievable coincidence.
I have not done all the renovations to my office but kept the treasures that Carole liked so much. My office is still a work in progress but I'll get there eventually :-)

I enjoyed reading your post, Carole. It is sometimes difficult for us to see the patterns and scary when we move too fast on the flow...
I try to remember that everything always turns out for the best.......
