Just a LITTLE Bit of New York City - NYC - Feng Shui for Your Office

Just a little bit of New York City Feng Shui for Your Office

If I could only give you once piece of advice in Feng Shui truly help your business for the coming year, I wondered how many people would take me up on it.  Would they make Feng Shui part of their Business Plan for the coming year?

I thought they would.  I thought they would incorporate just a little bit of Feng Shui Advice from a New York Feng Shui Consultant.  Then I came upon this featured post:

Try Not to be Too Neat by Gabe Sanders  AND the comments it generated.  Oh dear....some people find comfort in their clutter.  I knew I could write all I wanted and not succeed.  There was hope, however, when I came upon this post:

Do Everyone a Favor, and Tidy Up!  Robin Taylor Roth.  Although written for a different reason then Feng Shui, it seemed some people DO like organization in their home.  This little bit of Feng Shui Advice for the  New Year is for you.  Try it.

According to Chinese Astrology, this New Year we are soon welcoming in is apt to be quite a challenge for many (sorry, I didn't write it!).  In Feng Shui, ANYTHING  we can do to help us avoid these pitfalls and curve balls we get sent should be utilized.

One thing you can do before the New Year arrives from a Feng Shui Perspective is to CLEAN YOUR DESK.  If you have a home-office or just a desk at home where you do Anything to help generate money, CLEAN IT.  Here's one place where it DOES pay (quite literally) to have a clean, well organized area.  If you have to clean your desk in segments, that's fine but here's the Feng Shui Theory:

When we clean (or move things around), we do so with INTENTION.   As much as you may dislike this particular task, keep thinking of the MONEY you will generate by doing it.  Why would CLEANING GENERATE COLD, HARD CASH?  It's simple...we are allowing room for new things to come into our lives and one thing we ALL want to bring in is Money.  Particularly when a difficult year for many is predicted.

The Center of your Desk relates to Health in  Feng Shui.  Take the papers away from this area EVERY evening when you are done for the night.  Not only does it allow room for new business to come in, but it helps to protect your health to handle all that new business.

NYC Feng Shui Office by Feng Shui Consultant NYC Laura CerranoThis Desk in a Home Office in NYC needs some Feng Shui.

Think carefully about what's UNDER your desk.  Energy RISES.  This is NOT the place for Garbage or a Shredder (think of the Energy of a Shredder rising up to where you are trying to generate income).

With all the wonderful organizations tools I see now, I don't need to tell you HOW to organize.  And I'm sure most of you can wipe down your desk and monitor on your own.  If you'd like to Bagua your desk look at the Back Right Hand Corner---Your RELATIONSHIP area according to Feng Shui in your office..  Put a small pair of items there and mindfully think of cementing your relationships and partnerships-Business as well as Personal.

Want to address Wealth Again?  Go to the back Left Hand area of your desk.  A small (live) plant (with rounded leaves), or something moving to "move the money IN" works well here.  REMEMBER:   When you use a moving object and the changes you want to occur begin to happen, Move it again---or the new changes will  move right back out!

Feng Shui for your Office where you generate WEALTH is so important.  Remember this last Feng Shui Tip to use for your Office or Home Office:

With everything thing you move or clean, do it with Mindful Intent on what you want to create.  We have just passed the Winter Solstice, the BEST time for planting seeds!  If you take only one Feng Shui Tip for the Long Island NY Feng Shui Consultant, clean your desk!  And think of money.............and a Prosperous 2010!

Good advice; I am thinking I better get pro-active with Feng Shui fast in my office so I can pull in more light.

Carole, I have heard of this theory before.  Thank goodness I always put my paper up before I left the office.  I have a table top fountain on my left front corner of my desk, that is the only spot I can put it.  You are very generous of giving out Feng Shui advice, thanks!

Thanks for the timely reminder that our "intention" is essential to our success...meanwhile, I'm starting to clean up my desk surface, asap!

After reading about the energy a shredder will give off if it is under my desk will force me to move my shredder which is currently sitting under the desk.

I do love the look of the Feng Shui desk in your post. But sadly, my desk looks more like the one in need of a good consultant......

Do you hear that sound Carole?

It's the sound of cries for help coming from my office here in the Raleigh area!!!

Carole,

I really enjoy reading you articles about Feng Shui and learning.  I am going to work on my desk at our home office and follow your advice.  Thank you so much for your post!  I truly appreciate your knowledge and advice.  Have a great day!

Hi Carole-

Thank you for the timely post!  Steve and I share a two-sided desk and that's not very convenient in some ways, but it fits our room and allows us to network equipment more easily.

A quick look at the desktop though tells me that all Feng Shui is de-Funct!  I'll get in there and straighten up.  It's time.

Wishing yur a very sucessful 2010!

Hi Carole!  I appreciate these posts as you make me realize the need to have a clean, functional, and orderly office desk.

I see where the Chinese lunar New Year is on Valentine's Day.  Do you celebrate the lunar New Year?

One of our two daschunds loves to lie on a little bed beside me under my office desk.  Is that a no no?

Thanks Carole!        Happy (solar) NEW YEAR!!!

Carole, it was late tonight and I was getting ready to shut everything down after I made a few comments. Then I read this and felt guilty about my desk. Now everything is dusted, rearranged and my gift jade plant has been moved from the kitchen window to my left corner of the desk. I had to move off the printer to do that one. I need all the luck I can get for the new year! Thanks!!

Hi Carole! Great post and I never realized about the garbage being under the desk is not a good thing. I do not have a place in my office to put the pail so I place it well under my desk towards the back.

That does it Carole!  I just put January 5th on my calendar!  It's the day I will clean up my home office!  If you could see what's under my desk, you would choke!  I have a bin under here, that I toss my receipts and records for tax purposes!  No wonder I feel like I do when I'm sitting at my computer:-)  I think I do pretty well in the rest of my house, but my office space looks like a trailer park after a hurricane blew through:-)

Great post Carole! I always watch my work desk. I use Feng shui in my home office and on my work desk as well. In the Wealth area, I like to put something in gold color. And my phone is always on my right side, in the friend's area, because I need friends' help with the referrals. Happy New Year!

Tom B, Sounds like a great idea, it's never to late or to early to Feng Shui your space.

Rita, A Feng Shui consultants job is to help, inspire and teach. And I absolutely love sharing information that will help you succeed :)

Li R, That's great to hear! Yes, your "intention" behind any changes is 80% of the Feng Shui.

Morgan E, Yes, You do not want to keep that type of energy lingering under your desk. So it would be a very good idea to shift it to another area.

Hannah, I know its hard, especially when things become busy and you have to rush around but I diffidently recommend trying your best :) Thank you Happy New Years to you too!

Craig, I hear the sound... up, up and awaaay! (flying sound) :) Even if you can clear the center off at night that will still be a big help to you.

Rita M, Thank you, I'm glad the tips your learning about Feng Shui are helping you :) I hope you have a great day too!

Steve, Give it a try and remember to make sure your intentions are focused with the changes. That would be an adventure to discover Texas :)

Sara, Your working together and it sounds like you are literally linked together, so yes I would diffidently agree with tidying up your desk & incorporating some Feng Shui :) Thank you and have a Happy successful New Year as well!

Posted by Laura Cerrano and Carole Provenzale Owner, Feng Shui Long Island & New York (Feng Shui Long Island & New York City/Feng Shui Manhattan ) about 2 years ago

janeAnne, Sounds like a plan, that is one of the best suggestions so you can allow the new energy in for next year.

Al & Peggy, I think you mean you are using the suggestions?  I hope so.  I hadn't thought of a series but it's not a bad idea, thank you!

Toula, That's EXACTLY it.  Put on some loud music and clean :)

Joan, This will help to bring in new business.  It works!

Bruce, I would think your wonderful dog who stays right beside you is Fire energy (and LOVE) -- that is always good!  I do celebrate both and there are special things to do for the Chinese New Year.

Lizette, I'm sorry I kept you up but you'll have to let me know what happens in the next week or two.  I soon need to take a night off myself from AR to completely clean mine--I want a great year!

Gita, I do recommend that.  Energy does rise and that's not what you want coming up.

Jackie, I know it's inconvenient to move it but try to clean it out at night into another can if you can.

Myrl, I'm glad this spurred you to clean.  Once it's done it really only takes a few minutes each day to keep it that way and I KNOW you will feel better!

Gabriela, I am sure you implement the best Feng Shui.  I have some gold ignots that I love!

Charles, It will help.  If you don't follow anything else, just do this to bring in all good things for the coming year.

Carole--I learn so much from you...I had a battery charger on the left corner of my desk...now it has been put away so I will have to go look for that plant! :)

Hi Carole, thanks for the reply.  I do feel the warmth and love from Maddie when she comes in and shares a spot next to me under the office desk.  Maddie is on the right.

Hi Carole ~ Thanks so much for these tips, which I really needed to hear.  I plan to spend some time over the next several days to organize my desk area (it makes your example of the desk that "needs help" look absolutely perfect ... yikes!).  This time of year I start gathering my data for taxes, but I can see that a total cleaning and re-organization must be done first.  I'll look for a plant with rounded leaves that can survive without direct sunlight too.  If I'm reallyl brave I might even take some Before & After photos to remind me to never let it get this messy again!

excellent tips! although my home is pretty organized right now - more so then usual because i just moved - i will take your advice and have a look at my desk......i know one thing that bothers me is the tangle of wires under it - ie. wireless cables, modem, fax cord, printer cord, computer cord, telephone cord - what can one do about that?

Carole,

I'm flagging this for a feature....wonderful advice! I'll make it a point to clean my desk today and place some of my little nodding animals in that corner for movement.

Checking back in Carole.  Re-read your post and working on the desk at the same time.  Ya know, used to always keep the garbage pail under the desk (thought it was a good thing outta sight!).  Only have a problem with the live plant....have two little kitties that seem to like any living plant!! What to do there?

We are going to re-blog this with comments to you because we think this is a good suggestion for the New Year! Thanks again Carole.

Oh dear me, Carole,

I sensed it was time to do something about my corner of the family room.  I certainly won't take a picture until I am done, but it still won't look like the desk at the top of your post.

I used to clean my desk at the end of each day when I taught school.  It was a good start each day to have a clean desk.  I didn't go home until I finished my work.  Now I work at home and it seems I never quite get done.

I will make an effort in 2010.  I need to bring balance to my life and this may be a start.  Thanks, Carole.
