The ART of Feng Shui in New York City NYC
Everywhere I look in New York City (NYC), I manage to see some evidence of Feng Shui. If I'm wandering through Central Park, I am surrounded by Nature. If I'm walking the streets of New York City, I am always surrounded by the Energy of all the people bustling about.
Even in the Subway System in New York City, you will find Elements of Feng Shui through the wonderful Artwork that so many others pass by and don't really SEE. It's Feng Shui Art and is addressing the Elements of Feng Shui with all the Colors it employs.
Feng Shui Art in New York City also addresses the Energy. It would be a shame to pass this by....
The Subway System in NYC can hide some pretty incredible Feng Shui Artwork!
For those of you brave enough to come to NYC Raincamp in January AND brave enough to use our NYC subway system, keep your eyes open for some of the incredible Feng ShuiArtwork-underground in NYC.
Every picture tells a story....
Did mention the wonderful MUSIC they play in the Subways in NYC?
I wasn't kidding...LIVE music in NYC

Hi Carole-Those are some amazing pics. I love seeing NYC thru your eyes. You my friend are truly a gifted and special lady, Hope you had a great holiday. Look forward to seeing you in 2010. <SMILE>
Hi Carole...What wonderful artwork. Leave it to you to see beyond the obvious.
Kate
Hi Carole...looks like everyone is on AR tonight..I love your Underground Subway Art..Neat Stuff. Thanks for the photos...
Hi Carole!! Great observance! You certainly have the EYE for seeing what some miss and the thoughtfulness to post it to help open OUR eyes! You are a darling... the Rain is blessed to have you! Thanks the posting the beautiful pictures and giving us the education.
We braved the subways when we visited, and found them easy to manuever, and the people (who recognized we were "tourists") very helpful! We love to experience the cities we visit at "ground level" and feel the neighborhoods their cultures, their foods, their music. You are so right, there is ENERGY underground!
It is very interesting to see the subway art. I had no idea there was art like this throughout the subway system.
Hi, Carole, New York is a very colorful city, high energy, never a dull moment. And you always bring us some extraordinary pictures to share. Thanks.
Hi Carole. Those are beautiful works of art. Do the "contemporary" spray paint "artists" respect these works or do some of them fall victims to graffiti?
Hi Carole! Most times we drive into Manhattan when we go there. I miss seeing the artwork down in the subways. That artwork is so amazing!
It's been years since I've used the subway...
You're right...there's always someone playing music!
Carole~
As you know, i am fascinated with the "energy" and so this post with all the colors and sounds and movement made me smile. Thanks! Many Blessings and good energy for all concerned...and for You ..in 2010.
Amazing artwork - what a great platform to use to display it - a subway station!
Hi Carole... Now you have me feeling a bit homesick for NYC! Great pics of subway station art!
Carole,
Beautiful photos! There certainly is a lot of beauty in NYC subways....I hope one day to visit there.
Jo
Carole, I've been giving coming up to the camp some thought... I've never driven to NYC by myself! These photos are spectacular! An underground world and a beautiful one!
Oh my gosh, Carole - those murals are incredible!!! It sure does brighten the underground up and the street musicians? Yes, I have heard them before in New York and they are extremely talented!
Carole, I love the art and energy surrounding the subway system. Last few times in Times Square I walked around Manhattan and used cabs but need to venture down into the subway again on my next visit.
Carole, the art work in the subway is amazing. I haven't been to New York City since I was 21 years old. I gotta get back.
Happy New Year to you with much success and happiness to you and your family.
Carole what a fun post! Loved it! It reminded me of the post I wrote about my rain camp experience in San Fran and my trip back to the airport via public transportation and light rail. I too noticed all kinds of neat 'feng shui' art - it was amazing to me! Now I'll know what to expect in NYC - but I think a personal tour would be best!!!!
Carole..Music calms the savage beast in all of us..What beautiful art work ...
HELPFULHANNAH
Carole,
I absolutely love these murals. Great photos. You do such an awesome job documenting New York city and Long Island places and events. Thank you.
Happy Post-Holiday Carole,
What a clever way to educate us about Feng Shui! Yeasrs ago in education classes we learned a similar lesson: opportunities to learn are all around us. Thanks for the reminder.
Mary
The tile mosaic art in the subway platforms is absolutely incredible and very beautiful! I've done a little tiling myself, so can appreciate the time and effort this takes to create.
Thanks, Carole. You have a great eye for detail wherever you go. Happy New Year!
Carole - I am convinced that NYC is much more than a city. It's a living breathing microcosm which has a life of its own. The subway system with its art and "music" reminds me of the London Underground (subway). Similar things exist there, with each station having a dynamic personality all its own. The difference between the old traditional Victoria Station and the newer Millennium Station is dramatic.
Wow Carole, This artwork is absolutely incredible! It's amazing! I'm sure that with the hustle and bustle of the subway, there are many that don't "see" or appreciate these paintings. Thanks for sharing them with us.
Sharon L, the subway is more then just a place for transportation..you never know what you'll find at each stop. Looking forward to seeing you as well in 2010!
Kate, this art work was on the 1 line subway, if you travel the subways on the east side of nyc you'll find even more amazing mosaics :)
Fred,I'm glad you enjoyed it. I think my daughter wants to explore other areas and maybe even try and find the original subway station of NYC next
Diane, Sharing new things and bringing awareness to the lest ventured routes is wonderful. It's where you have the most fun :)
Cherly M, Your absolutely right, every time you exit from the subway, its almost as if you are getting a sample of everything...one stop its all about art, another you can be surrounded by nature or eating in Italy...I love New York! :)
Joan, it used to be just plan walls with some advertising but they have been truly trying to jazz it up and not have that feeling of being in a dark underground setting...its fun to see these new works pop up through out.
Rita, o yes NYC never stops, there is always something to discover...especially during spring and summer all the street fairs are around :)
Bruce, That's a good question. From what I have seen the images look good and untouched. The spray paint artist, if NYC was open to it, could contribute in a good way. I believe in certain parts of Canada, Graffiti artist are welcomed to create works of art on the street walls...maybe that could be another idea for the NYC subways...of course the art would have to be quality and meaningful.
Jakie,The subways can be amazing, not only with art but also with the performers that are around :)
Toula, It's great...you can here the sounds of music through out the subway system. It sounds great when they have saxophone or home made created drums
JaneAnne, The city subway do buzz with tons of energy :) One of the times passing by these pieces of works, more with the mural wall sized mosaics, a child was observing the work and started bouncing/dancing around. All those colors motivated him to react in such a positive way.
Liz, right...who would have thought...I think Keith Herring from the 80's helped lead the way and inspire these pieces to come about.
Steve, The pictures are a great way to remember... just be glad the smell of the subway can not transfer through your computer :)
Jo, I hope you can too. this is the up town section, down town is a whole other world.
Susan M,The subways today are good, constant movement and travelers and interesting things to see as you commute from point A to point B.
Leesa, the murals are amazing, as you can see up close all the small pieces it takes to create the whole image...I cant even imagine how long it took to plan and create

Gary, I agree with that idea for your next visit and plus traveling is faster and cheaper.
Missy, Thank you and Happy New Year to you too! You should absolutely travel back and explore the NYC area. there is so much to discover even on rainy days :)
Anna, That must have been great seeing SF art work, that is diffidently another city dedicated to artist of all sorts. Ya, let me know when your around and I can guide you through New York City, the sites and sounds to check out :)
Carole, I was in NY last week and I had a wonderful time. The energy in NYC is unbelievable.
These are incredible pictures Carole !! I just love that first one - mysterious, but so NYC, I love it !
Carole-are you going to raincamp? I am going to be driving in or I would consider the subway trains. Those pictures of the art are terrific!
Carole--The photos are beautiful! Love the subway photo...very artsy!
