Feng Shui in New York: Let's Talk about the FORM School by NYC Feng Shui Consultants

Feng Shui in New York...Let's Talk about The FORM School!  By NYC Feng Shui Long Island & NY Consultants

There are so many methods of Feng Shui used not only in New York City and Long Island NY but around the World.  It's our theory that the more schools of thought of Feng Shui we are familiar with as Feng Shui Consultants, the more we can help our clients.

One of the earliest methods of Feng Shui was called The Form School.  It was originally used for placement of ancestors in their final resting places.  The Chinese believed that the direction in which a loved one was buried was very important and it would have an impact on them and their lives.

We often think of being "backed up" in life.  A Mountain at your back for protection and Water in the Front was considered proper placement in good Feng ShuiThe water, like a gently rolling stream would bring in Good Energy and the Mountain would keep you backed up.

As a New York and Long Island Feng Shui Consultants, we still use these methods in our NY Feng Shui Consultations.  An example of this can be seen here in a Feng Shui Business Laura Cerrano and I recently set up:  Omni Martial Arts in Queens New York

Feng Shui Queens NY Business by Feng Shui Consultant Laura CerranoFeng Shui NY Queens Business...Omni Martial Arts New York

It is often the reason we suggest a small Water Feature by the Front Door such as a small Water Fountain...it is believed to drive good energy into our spaces including Feng Shui Businesses.

Here's a photo of a New Feng Shui New Construction project based right here on Long Island New York:

For Feng Shui Principles at Home or at Work, see what's backing YOU up.  Pictures of strength or accomplishments should be behind you.  Adding water by the Front Door will help you accomplish some of the methods of the Form School of Feng Shui.

Great post Carole! I love it! I must be doing something right because I have a small table top water fall by my front door. I love the sound of water when it's quiet in the house. As far as having something behind me at work, I have people behind me, no wall. I think I'm going to start learning more about Feng Shui thanks to you! :)

Carole~  This is so very fastinating.  The interplay between the water and the mountains makes perfect sense.  Thanks for this very value feng shui lesson.

Carole - You just explained something to me.  I feel really comfortable on the couch in my living room.  There's a wall directly behind it.  Across the room, is a 12 foot slider that looks out to a brick patio on the otherside of the glass. . .But, immediately on the otherside of the glass is a small pond.  There are no drapes and curtains on the glass, so there is no barrier to the view of the pond, and then the patio, the lawn and a gazebo beyond.  I should take a picture of it for you one day.

Hi Carole-I love water fountains. They are so soothing and relaxing. I need to get one of those. I love all the things I learn from you. I hope you have had a great day. <SMILE>

Carole, I have a water fountain on my desk at work, my clients love it.  And it is always a good conversation piece.

Carole, I love the photo of that creative way of backing up the new building with "mountains!" And it's no coincidence, I'm sure, that so many office buildings have beautiful water fountains out front!

Carole--So interesting as all your posts are.  I guess that is why Dave & I love our property.  We have our own stream, Trout Run, and the trees form the background similar to the mountains.  I can see the stream from my kitchen window and when I go out each  morning to feed the birds and squirrels.  Thanks.

I absolutely love to read your posts about what you do and why you do it.  It is so fascinating.

It is very creative the "mountains". Like you saw in blog Getting business with Feng Shui - a real story I have a fountain on my front door. My old cat loves it. She drinks water in the fountain every day, so I always have to replace the water... We have a big fountain outside, in the back yard, and a deactivated stable, just the field without the horses and trees (State park).

I agree with you, we always have to look what is around your property or around the property you are thinking to buy. We felt in love for one house last year but I convinced my husband don't buy it, even knowing it was perfect, 3 car garage, beautiful brick, 2 acres, nice price, etc. I didn't want that house because the electrical tower for that town was across the street, in the corner! I said no way to have all that electrical, magnetic power affecting the home and life. I don't know if you agree Carole.

Oh Carole, you have describe my absolute perfect home-site, a mountain and a lake...one day I hope to make this come true! I've always had a forest or wooded land behind me, I'm always at peace watching the changes & wildlife but I wonder this means in terms of Feng Shui? Having the woods behind me, I mean.

Jackie, It's so nice having another Long Islander here.  I just came from your post on Babylon and I love that town.  I'm all over Long Island and still love it here!

Joan, Funny thing about Feng Shui is that it DOES make sense :)  I am still learning about it and still get those AHA moments.

Myrl, I wish you had included a picture or better yet make your own blog showing it.  You are 'backed up' and have good, new Energy coming in.  I love it!

Sharon, I have a few, I love them myself.  I love watching and listening to them, they are so calm and soothing.

Marchel, She probably has it there for Feng Shui reasons.  I do recommend that to my clients quite often.

Rita, I have a small one myself that runs on batteries.  People don't realize they can Feng Shui something as small as their desk.

Annie, I think they thought I was nuts when I asked if they could build a mountain into the fence :)  I love it and they now think it's unique (to say the least!).

Mary, I used to have a bird feeder outside and I could watch the birds flock to it all day.  A neighbor complained because it was attracting other animals and asked me to take it down :(  I miss it and may just put it up again in the Spring.

Leilani, It's an ancient school of Feng Shui that I love incorporating into other methods.  Thank you for stopping by.

Gita, You're welcome.  I enjoy writing them and hope people pick up one or two things from a post of mine.

Kris, If you haven't tried it....get a small fountain. You'll enjoy it and will see a difference I believe.

Gabriela, I do....and it's interesting that you wrote that because a house I just looked at had the same thing.  My real estate agent didn't know why that would bother me so much but it's WAY too much electro-magnetic energy coming my way.

Cynthia, We are looking for strength behind you...I would think tall trees represent exactly that!  And the animals are pure FIRE energy....I'd love watching them too (if we had much left!)

Carole..Are you saying the desk with the plaques are a good set up also ??My office is set up that way wit a picture of a boy and a stream next to it..It is a small office there is no room for running water or streams ..besides in pictures..

Carole, I really don't know much about Feng Shui, I didn't know that about the way an office should be set up.  Very cool, I may need to rearrange my office.

Posted by Debbie Aldrich Salt Lake City Realtor Salt Lake County, Cottonwood Heights (The Watts Group Real Estate ) about 2 years ago

Hannah, yes that is great..you are still addressing the water element.  Think of it as a stream of new clients :)

Debbie,  absolutely try rearranging an area in your office and see if the energy changes in a more positive direction :)

Hi Carole,  thanks!  I remember reading about the mountain and water somewhere but did not realize it was the form school.  There are so many "schools" of feng shui that it's very confusing to me, but if I were near you I'd just call you for help - I know that YOU know this stuff!  Thanks for enlightening us a little more with this post!

I'm always confused as to what's behind and what's in front .......with multiple entrances....and is it front the outside or from the inside.......ayayaya - I'm moving at the end of the month - I think I should get one of your consults this time around! :-)

Very interesting. Maybe that's why I've always been attracted to living abodes that have mountains or high walls at the back and water fountains at the entrance.

Hi Carole, I hope you are doing well!  I have been so busy that I haven't been of AR very much as all but I have news I want to share with you.  I have finally connected with Val DeLong, a certified Feng Shui practioner here in Charlotte:  www.fengshuiconcets.net  We had a fascinating first meeting and she is evaluating one of my listings on Tuesday.  I am so excited.  She talked a lot about concepts I have never herard of so my guess is that today's Feng Shui is more all encompassing than the Chinese Feng Shui masters I used in CA years ago.  My homework is to bring the payment for her visit in a red envelope.  Is this something you ask for as well?
