Michael Jackson "This is IT" : -- A Review by Feng Shui Long Island & New York

Michael Jackson ‘This is It'  --  A Review by Feng Shui Long Island & New York

We went to see the last live taping of Michael Jackson-"This is It!"  I won't hide the fact that I am quite prejudiced, having been a fan of his for as long as I can remember.

I have always thought the King Of Pop deserved his name and the fame that followed.  I thought he was an absolutely brilliant singer, songwriter and performer.  His dancing always made me wish I could move like that and his creativity stunned me at times.

The movie was so respectfully done and shows other sides of Michael Jackson that I hadn't known.  He has a knowledge about every single part of putting together a production-the RIGHT way.  He is, for the most part, quiet, soft spoken and always polite to others while he encourages those he works with.

At one point he says to his guitarist "This is YOUR time to shine, don't hold back."  At another he honors all of his brothers by name as well as his parents and tells them he loves them.  In one of the songs he gets so carried away with singing it, he forgets to "conserve" his voice for the actual concerts.

For me, there are certain people who I will never forget and their deaths have impacted me more then I would have imagined.  Princess Diana and John Lennon were two and now Michael Jackson.  I noticed that ALL of them showed us their true selves and tried to help others.

If you are a Michael Jackson fan, you will love these final scenes of him doing what he does best-performing. It will make you sad that we have lost such talent so early in his life. I can't begin to think of the beautiful music we will never hear.  We will probably never see such talent again in our lifetimes.

Hi Carole!  What a wonderful write-up and tribute to MJ.  He was one talented performer and I do wonder if we'll see the likes of him again in our lifetime too.

Have a great Thursday...

Carole, thank you so much for the review.  I have heard everyone say how wonderful it is, but coming from you, now I will definitely go see it.  I'm a great fan of his as well, and don't think we'll ever see anyone else ever come close.    This will also be great for his children to watch one day ... to remember their Dad.

Although not a fan of MJ, I do respect his talent. It's nice to see that a movie depicting his life shows a side of Michael Jackson that the media hasn't blown out of proportion just for the sake of ratings.

A very nice tribute and we will miss so many who bring the joy of music and dance into our lives.  I hope we will see them again in heaven.

Carole - I haven't seen "This is It" - but have carefully watched news clips of scenes from his last rehersals.  What I come away with is the awesome feeling of what might have been.  Without a doubt Michael Jackson was one of the greatest talents to shuffle across this planet.

Jared and Amanda, I have no doubt you will love it.  I was stunned by his creativity and kindness to everyone and of course, his talents.

Dick &  Dixie, It was very respectfully done and truly what was to be his concert would have been absolutely spectacular.

Pat, I was shocked and saddened as were so many.  This film can only let you imagine what that "comeback" concert would have been like.

Debe, I don't believe we will.  His talents went far beyond even what I thought.  I did not expect the documentary to be as good as it was.

Sylvie, I guarantee you will love it.  The two hours flew by and everyone clapped at the end....Funny thing, no one left the theater until the screen went completely black.

Craig, I do believe you would have a new found respect for him if you saw it.....This concert would have been something truly spectacular and this shows talents far and beyond even what I knew he had.

Joan, What a lovely thought!  It's heaven, don't we get anything we want?  :)

Myrl, I knew he was talented but there wasn't ONE portion of this concert that he was unfamiliar with...he knew exactly how he wanted it and what would sound and look wonderful.  His incredible KINDNESS came through!

Carole I am not sure if I will see this movie but I do respect the talent of MJ.  He was a tortured soul who faced a rocky personal life but his achievements as a performer can't be discounted.  His songs and videos were always cutting edge and he always gave 100% of himself when he sang

Carole:  I'm not a fan per se'  but I do respect his talent.  I admit I am in awe when I watch him dance.  I did get caught up in his passing and I don't know how anyone can argue against his ability to truly entertain.  I am touched by how much he sincerely seemed to really love and appreciate his fans.  It was nice to see someone with this much starpower to be so humble when it came to recognizing and thanking his fans.

You lucky girl you!!
I've heard fabulous reviews of that....At least we've been left with many examples of his timeless talent!

I was never a fan of any of the Jacksons, and I was even less of a fan after his first pedophilia trial in 1994.

How sad but true when talent takes on the human side. I always used to question that saying "Only the good die young", but I see so much talent that ends in a short time. It is true about the whole world being a stage and we really do have to live by the saying "Carpe Diem"

Carole--He was quite the talent as a singer, dancer and overall performer. Sound like you really enjoyed the bittersweet moments of seeing the movie while knowing it is truly his last performance.

Hey Carole, very interesting review. Didn't care too much for him but did like his music.  Was wondering on another topic though the effect if any of Hallowe'en and Feng Shui

Carole, I've been watching his retrospective on TV- the scope of his work is so much greater than I'd realized. It's interesting to see his contribution to music as his videos kept evolving, getting more and more complicated and really, really, really fun to watch. What a dancer. Amazing.

I grew up with him and the Jackson 5. I was at my son's middle school graduation when a little girl passing me on the bleachers was looking at her cell phone and said he had died. I thought at the time it was one of those rumour emails, etc. Obviously not.

I can't imagine another performer being as big as him in our lifetime and as human as he was. He never acted like he was better than everyone else. That in itself was amazing.

Hi Carole,

I'm glad you did this review...I wasn't sure whether to go see the movie or not, but now I definitely want to see it.  I always liked his music even if I wasn't a fan of his behavior in his personal life.  It would be good to see a side of him that the tabloids didn't show.
