It's not like I'm not used to seeing unusual things in New York City. In fact, I kind of expect them. This one facinated me and I was going to ask what is it--until I realized I wasn't sure what it was.
If I were looking for a VERY LARGE Feng Shui object, I would know it's Metal. But is it ART of a take off of another building that I haven't identified.
Where IS Mitchel Hall when you need him? He knows everything about New York City. Everything! This New York Feng Shui Consultant is left to wonder............

I'm looking forward to a few days in New York City and rather than do the shows, we are going to concentrate on museums and art this trip. I really can't wait!

Hi Carole, Wow, this must be incredible to see up close. I wonder how long it took to build it. Was it built on the spot or were pieces brought in and put together? It will certainly be interesting to find out the history behind it. Amazing!

Vickie, that's a great idea, New York City in its self is like a museum with all historical landmarks and streets you can walk, it is truly a wonderful city.
John, It was amazing to see from afar....even greater when realizing all the tiny pieces it took to create something so grand.
Crystal, It most diffidently was amazing to see in person...I can not even imagine the time and planning the project took.
Bob & Carolin, the structure as you can see from the photos, was so intricate. It was a bella creation.
Myrl, My son used to play with the erector set toys, if he saw this in person...it would have blown his mind :)

Craig, NYC is full of art. My daughter came across and street artist/performer in Union Square who was creating Sand Painting directly on the side walk. Laura said his work was beautiful and very colorful! Actually, this picture was taken at Rockefeller Center, up town.
Leesa, I know, the patience and persistence.... and I also wonder if they built it on the spot or constructed it in another location and just transported it over.

Sandy, I was just saying that to Leesa...If they built it on the spot, I think that's even better because it brings a whole other dimension to the piece...and how many people worked on the project or was it only one...also why did they build it? so many questions :)

Aha! That's the building that the snowflakes are lit up on during the holiday season! If you turned around from your picture, you'd be looking at the ice skating rink?
How do they keep the kids off it? And the birds for that matter. It looks great now, all shiny and new.

Craig, Exactly---I had forgotten myself for a while. I have this thing about walking all through the City, shooting pictures and forgetting where I was. The tree gave it away :)
Georgina, We have so many things constructed for the kids in NYC I guess they just stay away from it....but I don't know. Unique "art" for children to play on was just constructed at one of the entrances to Central Park but I don't know how long it will be there.
Kate, I think it is. I'm not sure WHY they put it up but it makes for some interesting artwork :)
