After having been on a few Feng Shui consultations recently on the North Shore of Long Island (which I now LOVE!), I wasn't surprised to hear from a client in Laurel Hollow in Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York. She had recently began working with Reiki and was working very much with Energy. She is the owner of a lovely place she conceived of and opened three years ago and they were already preparing to move to a larger space; prior to the move she was having a difficult time figuring out her furniture placement and working with Feng Shui which prompted her call. The name of her business is "YOGA ROCKS" and I believe it's time has come. It is a Yoga place primarily for CHILDREN and their parents who are seeking a more wholistic way to attune their children to alternative healing techniques.
She has had particular success with children with such disorders as ADD and ADHD. Yoga helps them to focus and their reports from ALL their physicians had improved due to their ability to keep focused on whatever other treatments they were receiving, such as Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy. Even reading and math scores went up. I love healing modalities that do not include medication unless absolutely necessary. We relate Feng Shui to a natural form of healing.
Her home was located on a huge estate in land that had formerly been owned by Rockefellers and the Vanderbilts. We discussed her rearrangement of furniture and using exactly what she had would be able to create the type of atmosphere she was seeking which was to have friends over and a place to entertain them. Her new home was small, this was originally the garage turned "Artist's Studio" on the property of the main home on the property. Organizing help and just a redesign to help the furniture work together was all that she needed.
What caught me completely by surprise was when I went outside to evaluate her property. Outside her front door was the place where she parked and just beyond that a small grotto. But let me back up a minute. We were taught years ago when going to a consultation to look for "Signs" along the way. While I was on the expressway I saw something I couldn't quite see clearly. It was flying across the sky and I could see it waving in the wind...it wasn't a huge flag, it appeared to be a dollar bill....which of course would have meant abundance. I couldn't get close enough to make it out for sure but it certainly wasn't one of the blimps we have here on Long Island.
My client preferred I did not take pictures of her personal space but she did allow me to show you the outside. And a treasure in Oyster Bay, Long Island.
The sign, if you can't read it, says "Lourdes Hill." When I asked my client about it, she said the owner relayed there have been "sightings" there and a grotto was built to honor them.
A closer picture of the amazing Grotto. This was right outside her front door, obscured by her car. What beautiful energy to let in! And the other "sign" which I believe was abundance, I think she will do VERY well!
Driving just a few feet up from her home is the North Shore of Long Island. The town is Laurel Hollow, in Oyster Bay, New York. The pictures were so beautiful I thought you might like to see them:
Right on the water's edge in Laurel Hollow.
Another shot of the bay in Feng Shui Oyster Bay, Long Island. Notice the rocks, although some had apparently been knocked down they were originally built to all stand up and form a lovely line.

I believe not only the concept of her business but her energy and surroundings, in and out, are going to cause her to be well known one day. Remember, Yoga ROCKS!

Yoga does rock and so does your friends idea! Lovely pic's and beautiful post. I'm curious about the "sightings" - sightings of what?

Chris, I should have explained that. In France in 1858 a pheasant girl said she saw a "beautiful lady" in a grotto who spoke to her. People from the town believed her but not the Catholic Church who I believe kept assuming it was the Virgin Mary. She was told to return every day for 15 days to the grotto to dig and found water. Many people said the water had miraculous healing qualities. The movie made was called "The Song of Bernadette" and she was eventually declared a Saint by the Catholic Church. Since they named the Hill that and said there were "Sightings" I was assuming she was speaking of "the beautiful lady" and had the Grotto built.
Joan, a blimp is something that flies in the air...they usually are promotional like the Goodyear Blimp. Here's one: This isn't what I saw, what I saw was flat. Don't you have these?
Fascinating story and BEAUTIFUL pics, Carole. I love reading your posts so much. I always come away feeling refreshed and in deeper wonder about the 'hidden' world around us...not too mention with incredible newfound knowledge.
Hope you are having a wonderful day ,
Jo
WOW how do you find these beautiful areas and beautiful people that contribute so much to all. I loved taking Yoga years ago, I felt it really helped me to relax and limber up. What a great idea for kids especially if it helps them focus.
Thanks for the great pics.

Phyllis and Jo, I'm so sorry, I must have missed your comments. I don't know what's attracting me to the North Shore in the last few months but I have to say I'd forgotten how beautiful it is! And finding a grotto stopped me in my tracks! Funny, Lizette, I didn't hear a noise at ALL with that "blimp" and I still don't think it was one....
Sally, I have never been to Hawaii but maybe someday....I've heard from everyone who's gone that you NEVER want to come back! Long Island is absolutely beautiful in the summer and I enjoy this time of year SO much! Thank you for the comment.
