Years ago, the lovely Long Island NY town of Lindenhurst New York wasn't doing very well.  The Village of Lindenhurst wanted to help Main Street become vibrant and alive again so they turned to one of my former Mentors, Pamela Laurence with some grant money to instill some good Feng Shui back into the town.

And that's exactly what she did!  She revitalized the Village of Lindenhurst New York while working within the allotted budget to encourage business owners to rent again and attract people back to this lovely Long Island New York town.  It worked.

Today, Lindenhurst and it's lovely Main Street is once again a thriving town despite the economy.  It's interesting to note that while some people still don't believe in Feng Shui, there are incredible success stories such as this one and many people have become firm believers.

Real Estate Agents on Long Island NY have an interest in Feng Shui but many don't really have an understanding of it, even now.  They are not sure how it will affect buyers and most aren't even aware of their client's interest in it.  Often times when someone is seriously considering a purchase, they will finally tell their Realtor they would like to get another perspective---A New York Feng Shui Perspective.

While not yet ready to leave Long Island New York, I was searching on the MLS recently to see what homes were being offered and what the taxes and sale prices were.  I also look at the description for the APPEARANCE because not many pictures, if ANY, are shots taken inside the house.  I don't know if it's laziness but it makes me believe there is SOMETHING they don't want the consumer to know.

I came across a home that looked promising.  Much lower taxes then I am presently paying and I would likely be able to sell my home at a higher price.  I double checked both the price of the home and the taxes and went to look at the description.

8.0 rooms,  3 Bedrooms , 1 Full Baths

School District: Lindenhurst
Year Built: 1942   

Construction: Frame
Lot Size: 50 X 113
Appearance: Fear

Honestly, even if you're in a hurry while posting, wouldn't this be something to double check before you hit "Submit"?

A good Realtor will go the extra mile with photography and a good description as well. It is easy to spot a lazy agent.

Carole, I'm not sure what kind of pull down menus you guys have in New York, but FEAR is not part of our descriptions.  Nor is it part of our vocabulary, unless it's a haunted house, in which case we have to disclose.  That's insane.  Even if they didn't notice when they hit submit, do they not have a second look?  Do they not proof their copy?  Does no one else in the office look at the office listings?  No one else caught this?  That's beyond lazy. :/

Cheryl, That would be a shocker to find their house listed as FEAR...no good.

Sylvie,  I'm sorry to say that's an example of what we have here on the MLS. Not only mistakes but NO pictures.  I don't understand it, either.

Hmmmm ... whilethis type of thing is not unusual in ANY area in particular, it is a bit disconcerting to those searching for properties.

I would be tempted to print out the listing, highlight the word FEAR, circle it in red and mail it to the agent with a note saying ....

"If this has been on the market for a long time, or if you've had limited activity, you may want to learn to proof read your listings before submitting them."

It would be interesting to see what kind of response, if any, that you would get.  :)

Carol, I'll do it, I hadn't even thought of it.  To be honest, the local paper here catches some of these listings and writes about them and the Agents STILL don't do anything.  The MLSLI is one of the worst I've ever seen...sometimes there is not one single picture!  I'd have to believe they don't care what they put up and what a disservice that is to the homeowner.
