Feng Shui The Series Pt. 4
Feng Shui Tips and Advice from a Feng Shui Consultant in New York NY
Some Feng Shui Tips and Advice are Universal. These are just a few of the things I pass along to a client when I am doing a Feng Shui Consultation in New York.
Here's a few for you to try RIGHT NOW:
Clear the Clutter: Clutter creates chaos in our minds and in our lives. We don't think as well and we don't WORK as well. Taking time to clear the clutter will also create more room for new Energy to come into our space. Think of the things you want to create in your life and make ROOM for it! Clutter is simply defined as something you no longer need, use or want.
Address the Entrance: Both Home Stagers and Realtors know this rule...often called "Curb Appeal." In Feng Shui we consider the Front Door to be the "Mouth of Chi" where ALL good energy enters. Keeping a clear path, a sign that SPELLS out WELCOME and some flowers by the front door can have a huge impact. In Feng Shui we also love Solar Lights which light up the path to your Mouth of Chi. Don't forget to USE the front door if at all possible. If not, open it for a few minutes each day.

Let the Light IN: Feng Shui is about reconnecting with Nature. Open your windows or blinds when you get up and keep them open throughout the day. It allows the outside to come in and helps create the Yin/Yang balance we are all seeking.

Light UP Those Burners: In the Black Sect Method of Feng Shui, the stove represents MONEY. Keep it clear of pots and pans when not in use and keep it clean. Light all four burners once or twice a day for a minute or until they are Red Hot. You are igniting your money to accumulate.
Look for the Dis-Connects: If there is arguing or distance from people, seek to heal them the best way you can. It may be with a friend, co=worker, neighbor or your partner. Dis-Connects tend to stop ALL the areas of our lives from flowing smoothly. Heal the ones you can.

Get Positive! ‘The Secret' resonated with everyone. So did The Law of Attraction. That's what INTENT is in Feng Shui....BELIEVE you CAN create your dreams; dreams do become realities. We attract back to ourselves the very things we think of whether they are negative or positive. Catch yourself when you're worrying or upset and look at the bright side---even if you have to shut one eye. There IS always a bright side, you just need to find it.
Take Action: There's nothing magical about Feng Shui (although sometimes it seems so : ) When you want something, work to make it happen. Infuse your Energy into that work and watch the rewards come back to you.
Create an Accomplishment Board: In ‘The Secret' they called it a Vision Board. In Feng Shui for years it has been known as an Accomplishment Board. Think of all you have already accomplished and all the things you still want to draw into your life. Address them by using pictures, postcards or something simple that you make yourself. Remember: In Feng Shui NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE. Dream BIG!

Keep Yourself Backed Up: In Feng Shui we like a commanding position of the door so we can see who's entering-we don't like an "unprotected back." Solid headboards made of wood back you up while you're sleeping but look behind your desk. What's at your back? We think of STRENGTH and can use Awards or Diplomas or pictures that signify Strength such as a Mountain.
Some of these are Universal Feng Shui Principles. Some are from the Black Sect Method of Feng Shui and some from the Form School. Feng Shui is about INTENTION. It's important to make these changes with the Intention of what you wish to create.
*As a Certified Feng Shui Consultant based in New York, please note these are the Methods I choose to use and I do not imply that other Feng Shui Consultants use them as well-although they may. (Talk about backing yourself up : )!!

Hi...I did pretty good on all pints!
My new home has big windows and the drapes are always pulled back!
Here is my entry
I'll have to do that burner thing...haven't been using the stove in this heat! We did have a yardsale this pas weeknd and got rid of CLUTTER!!!! Yhea!!
Carole..I need a house boy..to help me get rid of the clutter ..Gary told me he would help me get superman..LOL....I am going to work on these issues ..I am queen of clutter..Love your articles..
HELPFULHANNAH
Carole, I also did fairly good on all points. I didn't even know I was using Feng shui. My only struggle would be that clutter. It is so hard to keep a handle on that paper clutter. I have been told to only handle a paper once but that has not been an easy task for me.
Carole, I hadn't paid much attention to our"Front Door" until recently after doing some reading on Feng Shui. We don't use it very often, even guest enter through another door. I do open it to get the mail and newspaper every day does that help? The stove is very interesting, should I remove my tea kettle? It stays clean because I don't like to cook much. LOL
Once again you have saturated this poor old brain with information. Thank you! We will be moving in a couple months and I have been making notes of your Feng Shui tips so that I can make the most out of the new digs. Thanks again, my friend. How did the eye surgery go?
Hi Carole-Truly beautiful pics. I learn so much from your posts. I have gotten behind on my commenting to everybody but I saw your post about the milestone of 500 posts and 15,500 comments. CONGRATS on those wonderful accomplishments. Enjoy your Thursday. <SMILE>
Hi Carole-What magnificent pics these are. I love the view pic and the entryway pic the best. :-)
I guessed I flunked this fung shui series. : (
hi Carole,
WoW, I learned so much by reading this post...fascinating. I especially like the idea of hanging diplomas or awards behind your desk.
Beautiful photos!
Jo
Morning Carole, I love learning from your great blog. It's all about moving forth in a postive and productive manner! Just super :)
I've been eyeing some solar lights and now I must purchase them this weekend! Thanks for the push.
I love this stuff!
Before I started reading your blogs, I only had a basic idea of Feng Shui.
Now I'm enjoying it more and more from the Queen of Feng Shui, my friend, Carole Provenzale.
Carole you are doing a great service to de-mystify Feng Shui, and make it more mainstream user friendly for all. Even if folks are not willing to go the full ride with you, crystals, etc. they can benefit from so many of the basic elements, and set out on the right path! Very nice post!
Joni, Your new home looks wonderful! You absolutely did a fantastic job and I love the red door too :) Good move you made...
Hannah, Just get some organizers, they work so well...you'd be amazed how fast you can clean up!
Marchel, If you clean it up remember not to allow it to build up. Organizers really do help that go on the desk and help me prioritize.
Donna, Every time you use your front door it helps. Can you leave it open if you have a screen door? I'd remove the tea kettle just during the times you light the burners.
Carol, I am seeing "flashes." The dr. said hopefully they will stop.....I didn't ask the alternative because I don't want to know right now! Thank you for thinking of me.
Sharon, Thank you for the lovely words...I am behind too but it happens and I'll be off when I'm on vacation!
Pat, That was a gorgeous entrance she had created....I have wonderful clients who allow me to use photos and understand those that don't.
Cindy, I'm sure you didn't flunk it, maybe it just needs some work...it will help--any changes you can make.
Hi Carole, glad I read through this post. In my new temporary office my back is to the door. Not happy at all about that one. Waiting patiently for my permenant office to be ready so I can set it up the way it needs to be for success.
Jo, Thank you, I am having fun with this series and hope it helps.
Cynthia, I love them...if my clients can afford them and if not for later. They are wonderful for other areas as well such as lighting up Wealth or Relationships.
Craig, You're too funny. Go llight those burners and then get back to me :)
Cheryl, I take that as a compliment from you who knows Feng Shui. Fact is, if you don't simplify it some people won't even try it so I have to keep it "light." Thanks for your kind words.
Michelle, Can you hang a small mirror that would allow you to see who is entering? You're not supposed to have what we call an "unprotected back." Mirrors that you attach to your monitor or just in front of you will allow you to see who's entering.
Carole - I especially like that picture with the letters spelling out "DREAM" - and then that amazing beach scene beyond. What's not to love!
Hi Carole! I've never heard about lighting up the range but, will definitely give it a whirl! I just love your pointers and pass them along to my clients.
Have a wonderful weekend...
I am good to go on everything but the "CLUTTER" -- I definately have to concentrate on that aspect! A great and informative series.
Carole, does it work for gas burners too? They don't get red hot ... in fact, they don't change colour ... so I was wondering... :)
Myrl, That home was just gorgeous. My client said it was her DREAM home and found the word to suit it.
Debe, Go for it...it's nice that you pass the information along to your clients and hopefully will help them as well.
Joan, You can do it, get organized. I promise you you'll feel SO much better after you do!
Sylvie, That works for ALL burners. In the Black Sect Methods your stove represents WEALTH. You are lighting it up when you turn them all on.
Carole - Great info. Thanks for sharing. We use the front door all the time so I'm OK on that aspect. I cook everyday but only use two or three burners. I have a desk upstairs in my son's old bedroom and it is facing the south window because I want to look out the garden when I work. Other times, I work on my dining room but my side of the table backs to the front door. My husband's side is facing the door. I'm trying to declutter since we are moving South in January and I have so much paper stuffs. I SORT one box a week. Last week I did three boxes.
I'm not sure I liked your definition of clutter: "something you no longer need, use or want." Most of my clutter is stuff that I need, use, and want, but don't have a good place for it yet.
We have a lot of "snout homes" here in California where the garage sticks out and the main entrance to the home is around the side. I wonder if that plays havoc with the Feng Shui for those homes.
