Where's YOUR Fame? Feng Shui In Huntington Long Island NY

Where's YOUR Fame?  Feng Shui in Huntington Long Island NY

In my travels through Long Island New York as a Feng Shui Consultant, I am fortunate to come across some unique places.  One entire section of the Bagua in Feng Shui is related to the area of "Fame."

Getting YOUR NAME out to the Universe is a huge Principle of Feng Shui.  Although we wonk on Intention, we also require ACTION.  It can be a bit unnerving for some of my Feng Shui Clients on Long Island to open their door (and their lives) to a Feng Shui Consultant; many don't know exactly what to expect .In ANY business you are in, you'll want to put your clients at ease.

I want my clients to feel comfortable and I try to avoid THE GRAND ENTRANCE.  I don't want my clients to be intimidated, just comfortable.  So do you.  Recently on a Feng Shui Consultation in the lovely town of Huntington Long Island, I passed Oheka Castle.  These people obviously believe in a Grand Entrance:

The entrance to Oheka Castle located in Huntington New York:

I once went to do a second Feng Shui Consultation for a client for her business.  I'd done her Feng Shui Consultation for her home by phone because she lived at a distance but she wanted me there in person for her business.  When she opened her door, we looked straight at eachother-eye to eye.  We were just about the same height-all of 5'1.

She looked a bit shocked to see me in person and I was worried if my picture represented me in a real light.  She blurted out one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to me:

"I never imagined you'd be so short. With all your wisdom, I was expecting someone MUCH taller."  By all means, remember to Get YOUR name out to the Universe.  Always remember to Create your Fame and to take Action; just don't make your entrance TOO Grand.    And if you're short, you might want to prepare you clients : )

LOL, I would have guessed you to be short, as in your photo you appear quite petite! I didn't pass 4'11" until I was 15, and then grew a full inch AFTER I turned 30!  Very nice way for your client to describe her expectations!

Fabulous pic! :)

<----- total neophyte/wannabe/surface scratcher but a strong believer in FS principles.

One of my oldest friends, a FS Master in CA is a tiny slip of a girl with a BIG BIG presence.

So I get EXACTLY what you mean. Size matters but not like one would think. :)

Great post.

Carole--I have always been the "tall" one of my friends. It is no fun to tower over others either. Most of my best friends were about your height. At 5'7", I felt like an amazon when I was out with them....and I am not really all that tall either. Most the women in my family were 5'10" or taller! Enjoy your petiteness...you can always use a stepstool!

I love that she thought so much of you and your "power" that she assumed you would be larget than life! Way to get your name out into the universe!

Hey Carole...That is a Great story, my mum used to say Nice things come in Small Packages, she was 5.1 3/4,and used to tell people she was 5 ft 2. :O).

Cheers, thanks for sharing :O)

Carole - I would have imagined you to be petite, between your photo and your voice it painted that picture in my mind.  :)  I used to be quite tall (5'8") before gravity and bad bones took over.  Now I hit the 5'5" mark, and the advantage to that is ... it's closer to the floor if I drop something.  LOL

All my life I've been told I make "an entrance" when I go someplace.  But it's something I don't understand because I usually just slink into a room and stand to the side for a little bit till I get a feel for what's going on.

Hi Carole-I love that grand entrance to that place. Truly extraordinary.  Nothing wrong with being short. Your presence here on AR and in the world is tall and of great stature. Height doesn't make any difference in the kind of woman you are. Being tall at 6' has it advantages but it doesn't make any difference in the kind of person I am anymore than being 5'1' makes for you.  God made you the wonderful woman you are. Have a great weekend. :-)

Very Cute, Sheldon :)  I went to a benefit there and it is amazing inside--also reported to be 'haunted' But it is spectacular!

Cheryl, If anything, I'm going to shrink :)  I never realized your pictures don't show anything about your height but that was such a sweet thing to say.

Candice, Thank you!  You might like the Group Feng Shui for Real Estate, we have some great contributors!

Teri, I'd take tall anyday.  It's embarrassing to ask another woman to reach something for you in the grocery store :)  Perhaps in my next life......

Crystal, I started laughing so hard when she said that.  Goodness, it was a funny icebreaker for sure!

Liz, It's something I'd never really thought about until that day...when meeting clients, they have seen my face but I hadn't thought of my height.  Now I wonder what other people didn't blurt out :)

Fred, I used to wear platforms when they were in style.  I fell off them so many times, I gave up!

Carol, Some people absolutely have a presence...and I'd imagine you'd be one of them.  It's not what you say or do, it's just a feeling you get from them and it's a Good Thing!  If you've got it, you may not even know but other people sure do.

Pat, Thank you for the nice comment.  It took me years to realize what you wrote about height not mattering.  Honestly, it would have been SO nice if just once I could shop in Jr.s instead of the Kids Dept!  I am tired of bunnies and hearts and trying to find something that looks nice!

Hannah, One of my teachers wrote in my yearbook "Big things are expected from Little People."  Hmmm, I wonder what she would think :)

Hi Carole.  I see Hannah beat me to it by saying good things come in small packages!  What a great compliment your customer gave you.  And as for Oheka Castle, isn't it a great place?  I haven't been to anything there for about 6 or 7 years, but it is neat having a castle in the area.  And talking about getting your name out there - I'm sure you kniow Otto Kahn named the castle after himself.  What a great tie-in to your subject.

Hi Friend...I read your post with a totally different interpretation! I kept thinking of some professionals out there who have staged, age challenged and air-brushed photos that  present them as another package. To the extent that the potential client, on first meeting, doesn't recognize them!....

Love the story and analogy.  I think of you as larger than life as you as so wise!

That's so cute - I guess you must be doing a good job if they see you as being so much larger.  Good things come in small packages!

Carole ~ What a grand entrance that castle has!  Makes you really want to wander down the long path and see more.

One of my grandmothers was barely 5-ft tall and once she chased me around the room to give me a smack for talking back to her, but I towered over her by the age of 10 and made an lucky escape!

Hi Eve, I love Oheka Castle and would love to go when it's open (which is almost never). It's reserved for private parties now but I had been to a benefit for animals one time and what a stunning place.  It was vacant for many years before it was restored--down to the finest details!

Joan, No, that  wasn't the case at all!  I think people picture you in their head from writing and speaking.  We had worked on her home over the phone and through speaking....and had never seen each other before that day!

Cathy, I am knowledable about Feng Shui.  As for lots of other things, I haven't learned so much and probably never will!  There never seems to be enough time.

Georgina, It was a nice compliment to get and such a funny way she blurted it out.  We both had a good laugh over it later.

Grace, I'm home almost any night and you're more then welcome to call!  Setting up your own place I can definitely help you with and finally get a chance to repay YOU for YOUR help!

Maureen, My kids towered over me by the age of eight, darn it.  I couldn't catch them but don't know what I would have done to them if I could :)  I used to TELL them I would was their mouths out with soap...but never did it :)
