By A Feng Shui Consultant in New York City
Did you know you can take a tour of Lincoln Center in New York City? If you're in New York or coming to New York it can be one of the most enjoyable and least expensive things you can do!
Had I not stopped one day inside a hotel in New York City and picked up a few guides for traveler's, I wouldn't have known about this. If your tour starts at the right time and they are rehearsing, you'll get to see a behind the scenes rehearsal of how they put together an opera. It is a thrilling sight.
You also might catch ballerina's rehearsing. Your guide might tell you how their love of dance is so strong that most will not be able to continue dancing after they are 30 years old. At that time they have to find new careers and often suffer permanent injuries from the workouts they have given their bodies.
Lincoln Center is facinating if you love the Arts. Everything is timed down to the MINUTE as they cannot afford to run late and for each minute they go over, EVERYONE must be paid.
Tours run daily but you may need to call ahead to reserve a spot. For under $20, I can't think of anything better to do if you have a love of the Arts!

Can anyone name the Artists?

I've often thought that Lincoln Center, a theater for the arts, is a work of art in itself.
I've been to many a performance there, buy had no idea that they offered tours.
Such a great thing to do in NYC.....and affordable too.
Well done Carole!
Thank you.
Carole - The Lincoln Center is absolutely spectacular. I remember going there to see the opera Carmen on a field trip when I was in junior high school. It is still one of the highlights of my younger days.
Ohhh I love it! Any kind of historic or art tour -i'm in! Especially in New York!
Carole
The Lincoln Center is beautiful; when I come through New York soon on my way to Toronto perhaps I can have a chance to meet you if possible. The trucks will be way ahead of us so It wwll me just driving along.
Hi Carol...That's pretty neat, when in New York Go to Licoln Center.
Cheers, thanks for sharing this with us in the Rain:O))
One day I'm going to get there and we'll go a skipping through all the sites and stuff okay?
Hi Carole,
Now that is information that I am storing in my head for my next visit to your beautiful city.
Carole; thx for this. My son moved to the city so when I go up to visit I will add this to the list. I discoverd that there are ticket auctions (front row seats) for at least one Broadway show - WICKED, where you can get a pair of tickets for $26.50 each - that's even better than standing in the cancellation line. Which we did and got fabulous seats by the way.
Carole, I have never been there, would love to check it out sometimes, great shots. I have no idea who the artist is that did the murals.
Wow, a tour would be awesome of the Lincoln Center! You know that I am all about art, artsy stuff and history - this fits in perfectlyt!
Didn't know that! Next time...on the list! And we will come back, we had such a great time the first time we visited!
I can't name the artist ... but that is amazing architecture. Thank you for sharing and allowing me to tour these places vicariously! You're a gem!
Carole, next time I'm in New York other than seeing you I have to check this out. I had know idea they had tours there.
Carole..beautiful..I love the arts..but I can't name the artist..please tell..Thanks
HELPFULHANNAH your friend in Philadelphia
Carole, a friend of mine told me today she's going to New York at the end of the month, and asked if I wanted to go along. Now you're teasing me with this post.
(don't ask about the passport ...... )
Hi Carole-What a beautiful place. The arts in life sure do enrich your life. Love the pics. <SMILE>
Craig, It IS beautiful and I hadn't known about the tours, either. I'm not big on tours but I loved this one!
Donna, I saw Carmen too :) And had dinner there which was so much fun. I too, love it there and never liked opera music but loved the opera!
Liz, You would love it, you get to see ALL parts of Lincoln Center including Alice Tully Hall.
Tom, Please let me know when you're going and will be passing by NY. If I can get into the city, I definitely will and would love to meet you!
Fred, Fianlly something wonderful that is inexpensive to do in NYC :)
Sally, I need you here for a minimum of five days...You'll want to see it all and I'll be a good guide, I promise!
Cynthia, Call me when you come next! This IS a wonderful tour, even children will like it! It's magical to watch them practicing.
Janice, You're going to have to send me that site! I haven't been to West Side Story or Hair yet and I'm going to both but don't have tickets yet! You will love this tour and what a wonderful place to be able to visit often! I love the City, there is always something going on.
Missy, You would LOVE it, it's so beautiful even if you don't see a performance. Not many people are aware of these tours and they are facinating!
Leesa, I was so excited while on this tour I kept asking question after question. The tour is supposed to last 1 hour or so, ours lasted over 2 and actually the guide loved it that we were so enthusiastic.
Cheryl, It would be hard NOT to have fun in NY :) Anytime of the day or night you want to do something, there is always something to do. The Village at night is so much fun.
Carol, This is a wonderful tour (and I don't take that many because I like to see things on my own time). We watched a ballerina do one step over and over again---until it's perfect.
Gary, I wonder when AR will have something in NY again. I hope not in the winter, any other time it's wonderful to be here and I would look forward to meeting you as well. I think you would love this tour.
Hannah, I thought one was Joan Miro but honestly, I have to double check with my daughter--I don't want to tell you the wrong thing. The artwork, though, is spectacular.
Sylvie, That was my question...where IS the passport?? Goodness, it used to be so easy to get back and forth between the US and Canada! Get one--you could have it in a matter of weeks! I had mine expeditied and had it literally in just over 2 weeks.
Sharon, What a beautiful way to put it. I love art, all types of art and wish I were more creative in that field.
Carole - I would love to take that tour when we visit New York someday, I love all of your photos and information on NYC. Since I've never been there, it really gives me a feel for what there is to do and see. :)
Monica, It is such a special place. There is SO much to see and do, it's always an experience!
With Jim and me both being musicians, Lincoln Center was one of the first places we went when we visited New York City for our fifth anniversary.
Russel, You didn't say if you loved it but I can't imagine you NOT liking it....it truly is a fabulous place and hope you got to see Avery Fisher Hall which is part of the tour.
