You Have Reached 1-800-PSYCHICS

I AM a New York Feng Shui Consultant; I am NOT, however a psychic.  Please don't get me wrong, I do believe there are some very special people out there that have true "Gifts."  I'm not one of them and actually, I'm glad.  I don't believe I'd want to know the future for myself OR see it in others.

Years ago while working in The New Center for Wholistic Health I was speaking to a woman who had stopped by the desk.  I don't recall what we happened to be talking about but I do remember quite clearly she told me she could "smell" death on a person.

I believe I backed up a bit as I was speaking to her.  She relayed a story to me I have never forgotten:

She had been to a wedding not long ago and was having a wonderful time.  That is until her nephew who she adored came over to give her a kiss and greet herShe told me she knew instantly that he was going to die-very soon.  There was nothing she could do about it and she was heartbroken.

Just a few weeks later she told me, her nephew had been in a horrendous car accident...and had passed.  Although she said she had finally accepted her "gift" I thought it more of a curse.  She did say she saw other things as well....events, marriages, pregnancies.  I believed her and just hoped that she didn't begin to tell ME anything.  She didn't.

This came to mind the other day when I received my fifth call in two weeks all beginning with "Hello, are you the psychic?"  I had no idea where these calls were coming from and most people couldn't tell me exactly how they found me.  One finally said I was on a "psychic hotline."  How I got there I will never know!  I have to say that while I believe SOME people have a gift, I'm not sure they are manning hotlines at all hours of the day and night.

Reader Feng Shui Long Island Consultant

Most of the psychics I've heard of have very long waiting lists, whether you are read over the phone OR in person.  I wondered whether to tell some of these people that called my thoughts---most sounded young and were ready to give me their credit cards!

I am still getting calls and now I try and "council" these people.  I feel sorry for them that they must be so desperate for SOME information about whatever is bothering them that they will call a hotline.  I ask them to try and find a reputable psychic who comes by recommendation.

I answer my phone as Feng Shui Long Island.  It makes me wonder:  Do YOU believe in psychics?  And if you do, are they on "hotlines"?

Carole, Oh my gosh.  I do believe people have gifts but I don't like these psychic hot lines.  I'm glad you are counseling them.  It sounds like you have a gift in the counseling department.

Carole, I do believe you have a gift.  You know they're going to lose some money really fast, and willingly.  You can tell that, can't you? :)

Very strange phone calls.  You should check out the psychic hotlines and make sure your number isn't being advertised.  That would suck.

Good luck with that. :)

And you are gifted for sure.... even if you can't tell me when I'm going to win the lottery. :)

Hi Carole-I think some folks do have a gift and I would call it a curse. I would not want to know some things ahead of time. I don't know that I believe in the psychic hotlines though. Lot of frauds out there just looking for a way to make a buck. Like everything it gives the good ones a bad name. Have a great weekend. <SMILE>

Hi Carole...Whatever it is, I do believe that some people have more of it than others.  It could be intuition, a hunch, a gut feeling, whatever it is I do think that some people have the capability to sense things that the rest of might not. However, I don't believe they are working the phones.

You don't need more.  You are insightful enough.

It sure is a 'gift' indeed. You know...the psychics you see on tv that help solve cases and stuff. There is one lady here from asia who does readings and I was told by a few people that they went to see her but got all spooked ...and not wanting to know the bad stuff. I'm with Kate...the ones that aren't manning phones may be more reputable? Who knows. Maybe it provides comfort or something.

I totally believe, and also believe that there are those who would exploit those who believe! My mother and I have each had experiences of "knowing", both associated with death.  Only a couple of times each, and about people we did not know well. Those hotlines seem too scammy, I would never call!  Have never visited one, but am intrigued.  My mom went many years ago, and the predictions, which my mother wrote down, but did not tell us, all came true, down to my "new boyfriend" who became my husband.

Carole:  I guess it is better to be on the "psychic" hotline... than on the "psychotic" hotline... :)  I do believe, however, that there are gifts, or abilities, within our minds that we do not fully understand yet.  But... the psychic hotline... ummm... not so much.  :)  Take care...

I believe that some folks have a 'gift' of being able to 'know' the future.  But I don't believe in psychic hotlines - other than to know that they are a quick way for a person to lose money.

I had a friend that was a strong believer in psychics and she would call every one of those darned 800 numbers and cough up anywhere from $40.00 to $200.00 a throw.  And all they told her was what she already knew.

I never understood it.

Carole,
You are the most kind and caring person!  Most people would be very annoyed to get these calls but you take the time to counsel these callers.  I do believe that some people have a "gift" .  Do they have a "hot line"?  I think NOT!

Karen Anne cracked me up.  I agree TOTALLY, LOL.
If psychotic hotline is what you're looking for, however, just call me. :)

Personally, I don't believe in psychics. I do believe some people have some extra sensory perception. But psychic powers, no.

I always thought it would funny to call one of those psychics and when they answer the phone, and say, "Hello, who's calling please....", I respond with, "You're the psychic, you tell me who it is!!!"

But I really do think you're psychic Carole......At least that's what my Magic 8-Ball said...

My magic 8 ball always seems to have the answer, otherwise I just trust my instincts. Good luck!!

Wow I hope I get some calls from folks telling me they found me from the Real Estate Psychic hot line - LOL

Hi Carole...That's interesting that they called you..maybe an opportunity to talk about your service. I'm with you.... hot lines are just a business, and in all likelihood not the True thing..if there is such a thing. I remember a clients wife, who was a gypsy when she lived in Europe and said she stopped reading palms because of the Bad news she had to tell people or Hold back and keep to herself.

Great Post Carol, thanks for sharing it with us :O)

I DO believe in psychics, I DO NOT believe they work at hotlines.  I have created a website for a friend of mine who offers psychic readings and he is the real deal, in my opinion.  It's not a gift I would want.

Posted by Chris Fisher (Your Virtual Assistant) over 2 years ago

There certainly are a lot of frauds out there!  It is difficult to know for sure if someone has the gift.  Most ask lots of questions and then the person actually is filling in all the information... they don't realize they are giving to "psychic the information by the answers to the questions.  The true psychic shouldn't have to ask all those questions... they should know... they are psychic!

Marchel, It's sad, actually.  I do wonder what issues they are dealing with that causes almost desperate behavior.

Sylvie, I do believe in psychics personally but the ones I have gone to have come as a recommendation...not on a hotline.  And often long waiting times to be read.  And I wonder since they sound so young, how do they have credit cards?

Sharon, I think you're right and judging from  the calls I've gotten, I'll just bet they are making some money.  I am sorry the people calling are so misguided, though.  And I do believe too that some people have gifts---

Kate, Thank you, I'll take that as a compliment :)  I have been read in the past by some excellent people so I'm a believer but it's not something I would want.

Sally, I have seen phenominal shows where well known psychics have been called in by police and solved crimes....some of them cold cases.  I have no doubt they are real but I honestly don't think they're sitting by a phone.  They are well known and well respected by many for their abilities.

Karen, That is too funny!  Come to think of it, I guess there are psychotic hotlines....but they do help people.   I am all for a good reading and have had a few myself but the people are well known and not sitting at a phone.  Now if I could find the hotline to remove my name......

Cheryl, I would not want to know and it's one of the reasons I no longer go to psychics.  I don't want to hear about death and most feel they have to tell you.  I would not want your gift, even if I did not know the person well.  But they are "fakes" out there and I would never use a hotline to find a psychic....I would go on a recommendation only.

Carol, I am worried about these people calling....I guess anyone could say they are psychic and yes, make some good money at it.  I know there are good ones out there but I believe there is always a waiting time if you want an appointment---and they are much closer to the $200 and up range.

Cynthia, They sound young, I wonder how they even have a credit card.  I feel sorry for them, I feel they must have some serious issues to be calling a number listed somewhere.  And I have  to say it can be annoying when it's 2 am!

Sylvie, She cracked me up too....Now watch out, you don't know WHO will be phoning you :)!

Craig, I can't BELIEVE you went to all that trouble to make that picture, I love it and I'm saving it!!  THANK YOU, WHAT A NICE THING TO DO!

Betina, I have used psychics, some of them very good ones.  I had a phone reading once years ago from a recommendation with the woman who later did some of the Poltergeist movies...she was exactly right about things!

Bill, I'm sure you could get yourself listed....or hey, you may have just created a new niche!  ADVERTISE and they will come :)

HI Fred, I've never been ready by a Gypsy but she sounds honest and real.  I think it must be very difficult to tell people bad news and I know I would not be able to do it!  I don't think reputable pscyics are on the phone and if I could find that listing I would remove myself.

Chris, It's not a gift I would want either.  While at times I "get" things from the exchange of Red Envelopes, it is more of an impression or change in a client's environment.  But that's Energy...maybe psychic work is as well---being able to read future events from someone's energy fields.  I'm not sure but I do believe in them.

Carole - at least it was only a psychic hotline;^) While I do believe that some people may have "gifts" of the paranormal type, I certainly wouldn't use a psychic hotline, and have never consulted one.

Carole--lately I have been getting call to local restaurant who number is one digit different than mine.  Maybe that is the explanation for the calls you are getting.  However it sounds like you are handling them well and in an understanding manner.  I enjoyed reading your post and the comments from many people I have met here in the rain.

Carole--I feel your frustration but some people know little about something and want to know more. I am certain you kindly set them straight on what you can do and what you cannot do for them. It is kind of like when someone calls a REALTOR and asks for a free appraisal of their property. We are not appraisers but can do a market analysis. Education is the key and you are a wonderful educator. :)

I had a client who was a psychic....one of the sweetest, most interesting people I have known. She did not abuse her gift, in fact most people would never have guessed this about her. She had a following that was very loyal. I adored working with her. It was a very smooth transaction.... but she "predicted" that outcome.

Remember Sister Cleo? Though I found her entertaining, I think that most psychics would not be doing infomercials or as you say manning hotlines 24/7. In difficult times many people disregard their common sense that would often prevent them from falling for hotline psychics or whatever straw they may be grasping at for hope and answers.

Posted by Rich Dansereau (Positive Real Estate Professionals) over 2 years ago

Joan, I absolutely agree with you.  People don't realize the information they are providing most of the time and it's hard to distinquish the real ones from others.  I go by referral or I don't go at all :)

Mike, I have in the past, not much at all anymore but I am concerned about these hotlines.  Good psychics are booked so far in advance from what I can tell.

Mary, I honestly have no idea how I got on that list, it is not something I would sign up for!  It may be a digit off and that's something I hadn't thought of.  Thank you for your comment.

Teri, I think you're right but I answer the phone with my business name...it doesn't seem to throw them.  "Is this the psychic?" is the usual question....kind of scary that they don't check people out.

Margaret, What a lovely story. The pyschics I have met who I believed to be real were all wonderful, caring people and they truly had a gift.  But as in any business, there are scams and I know anyone can put up a website and pretty much say they are anything.  I worry about these people that seem a bit desperate.

Rich, I don't remember Sister Cleo!  I remember seeing ads on TV for psychic hotlines but not in a while.  I know people are worried right now and feel it's fine to consult a psychic...just make sure they're truly gifted.  Now I have to try and think who Sister Cleo was........

Hahaha! Except for the over the top infomercials, she was pretty forgetable. Here is a YouTube link to help refresh your memory if you like. Oh and I misspoke, she was known as Miss Cleo.

Carole ~ I believe it to an extent.  It would not be a "gift" to me if I knew someone was going to die in the near future.  How do you not give it away by your demeanor or just saying it?  I feel bad it was her favored nephew; I would be devastated.

Years ago, probably when that Cleo woman was on the commercials, I had gotten a call from some psychic place.  I just told them, "Then you already know I'm going to hang up on you".  I would go for a reading for fun though.

That's kind of funny - but I don't believe anyone answering the "hotline" would be the genuine thing.

Maybe you have a gift that you don't even realize?
