Even Feng Shui consultants can get sick....I believe we get sick when we know we should SLOW DOWN but don't take the "subtle" (and sometimes not so subtle) hints from our bodies. So something will come along and knock us off our feet.
Last week I was sick, Bronchitis and then it turned into Laryngitis. I had rescheduled as many appointments as I could but had a rather large Presentation today that I did NOT want to have to call off. As always, I Mapquested the lovely town of Williston Park, Long Island and started on my way a full TWO hours before, knowing I would encounter heavy traffic at that time.
Let me just say for a minute that I am NEVER late for anything. I am the one that shows up an hour early for an appointment and then gets annoyed at myself for having to wait for TWO hours. With that said and expecting the traffic, I was clocked to be only about 35 minutes from my destination. I would find a diner, have a relaxing cup of coffee and try to keep my throat working without those awful noises that sometimes accompanies these things.
I did NOT count on as much traffic as I hit AND getting lost. Really, Really LOST. I pulled over to call the office four times but the person I spoke with thought I was on a different route and the landmarks she was giving me I wasn't finding. A 35 minute trip turned into a two hour journey. And I was exhausted when I got there, almost 40 minutes late! And wondered how I was going to be able to talk to these lovely people who were clearly waiting (and waiting) for me.
After my apologies, I started to hear from the back of the room "I can't HEAR you." My voice was almost gone. For anyone that doesn't believe in Energy, I pulled in mine from every part of my body. I had to overcome my lateness, my voice and alot of frustration and come across as calm and every bit in control of what and HOW things came out. And I did....people started to sit up, lean forward and listening to what I was saying. They have been in enough homes to know about every aspect I was speaking of.....uncomfortable feelings, consultants who had told prospective clients that homes they LOVEDwould be negative for them, homes that were devoid of Energy and life. And how to use Feng Shui to help get them sold. They were intrigued as it was the first time many of them had heard of it.
The result was a resounding success. The questions kept coming, my voice held out and after the meeting I was asked to speak again for a much larger group of Real Estate Agents later in the year. They realized they had many clients over the years and did not recognize why they had been getting some seeming "strange" questions. Giving them a knowledge to answer some of them helped. Interestingly enough, I was asked at one point to choose the prominent area of the office, the one that had the most potential to pull in the money and pointed it out while explaining why. It was where the Top Producer of the office sat....and now he's going to Feng Shui his desk and area to make it even more powerful :)

Carole,
I KNOW how sick you were last week and don't know how you made it through the presentation. Call it sheer determination, call it 'pluckiness', call it 'being a professional'....and you ARE through and through!
I'm so glad that you (and Feng Shui) were acknowledged for the positive contributions available to everyone through intention and beliefs.
VAL
Carole,
Your fortitude and professionalism paid off - I hope that you're feeling better now. I love how the money spot in the office belonged to the Top Producer - that alone is a great testimonial to Feng Shui!
Carole ~ Talk about stamina, professionalism, to quote Val - just "pluckiness" - Most of us probably would have given up, rescheduled or just stayed in bed. Thank you for reminding us what a true professional is like.
P.S. I hope you're feeling better.
Thank you for your comments!
Ben, I am often early but NEVER late, it was a first. In my (humble defense, there were two identical cross streets unknown to them and me so even when I called, they thought I should have been right there!
Joan, Thank you for the kind comment. It is amazing what energy can do (and where it sometimes comes from :) I hope you keep learning Feng Shui and if you have any questions, just ask!
Val, I know you heard me on the phone, I was sick:( Thankfully it ended well and they were so receptive!
Cindy, something tells me you would have gotten through it, too. Amazing what you can do when you have to.
Maureen, thank you. Definitely pointing out that spot (he was not sitting there and I would not have known him, anyway) was the "kicker." I can't imagine what will happen if he actually does use some Feng Shui there!
Calie, that might have been plain old stubborness to get through it (and well!). You would have done the same thing...it's your name out there, you have to!
Marci, I've missed you! Thanks for the comment, I hope things are going well.
Jim, I had the GPS on a list of things I was going to buy, right after the new Gas Grill I was looking forward to. I changed the list and now, FINALLY have a GPS! I will not be late (or lost) anymore!
You obviously know your stuff & knew you could pull it off! Confidence can carry you a long way even through illness, being late, afraid, overwhelmed. I'm sometimes amazed at the professionalism I've pulled off through difficulty & done it well - when I know that I know my stuff.
Have a great weekend Carole!
