A New York Feng Shui Consultant in Lovely Long Island, NY
Feng Shui and New York. Sometimes I believe they just go together. There is so much beauty both in New York City and on Long Island it's never difficult to decide where to go for this Feng Shui Consultant.
FINALLY, days of Spring. Some warm weather and much needed sunshine are precious days to be enjoyed. I spent one day recently in the lovely North Shore Long Island Town of Cold Spring Harbor-right next to Huntington Long Island New York which I've written about before.
Cold Spring Harbor has its own charm. It sits right on the Long Island Sound and has beach spots (primarily for residents), unique homes and a wonderful Main Street with quaint and wonderful shops and items you're not able to find anywhere else.
IT ALSO HAS A ROCK. Something I somehow missed on my other "adventures" in Cold Spring Harbor Long Island. Some other special things I love about Cold Spring Harbor is that my favorite astrologer is there, Robert Cook. It is also a place where a singer who's music I love and have been listening to and watching him performs also plays in this town on occasion-Jim Dawson. I have been going to his concerts since I was 17 and am STILL doing it now!
Here are a few pictures of this treasure on Long Island, if you ever come to visit here it should be on your list. Oh, and at the bottom you'll find THE ROCK. This New York Feng Shui Consultant finds something new on every adventure : )

One of Billy Joel's early album was titled "Cold Spring Harbor." No Wonder!

ohhhh i love that blue house! I had a similar one once........without the gingerbread trim...it was my fav house of all time - if I could I'd buy it back.....! :-)
Hello Carole-Looks like a very nice place. Feng Shi in lots of places. Have a great Sunday. <SMILE>
Hi Carole, Billy Joel is a favorite of mine. Good to get this background from your area.
What a little dollhouse! I'm always a sucker for a gingerbread Victorian, they are so romantic looking. They "feel" good inside! In all my moves, my fav exterior was an 1885 covered in fishscale with a wraparound porch!
Wonderful Carole! I'm so glad it's finally spring...I know you kept saying it's soooo cold :) Beautiful area....and Billy Joel definitely one of my favs too :)
Carole, I actually mowed the back yard yesterday- it was so nice to be outside in a t-shirt! While the novelty may wear off soon (the yard is pretty big), it felt so great just to be outside with the dogs, birds and sun- what a long winter we seem to have had!
You are a prime abassador for Long Island! I always feel like I am touring the area with you. Thanks for taking me along on these 'armchair travels.'
I love Cold Spring Harbor! It's right across the bay from Northport where I used to live.
Is the fish hatchery still there? I remember going there on school trips as a kid.
Thank you, once again, Carole, for bringing back memories of my days on Long Island!
Carole--You are leaving no stone unturned in your exploration of the NYC area...Yeah the bad pun was intended. Hope you had a wonderful time exploring!
Hi Carole,
I love it how you take us one the tour of Long Island and NYC. Thank you!
Carole,
Love it when you write about your "adventures" and your photos are always great.
Carole it looks like a beautiful town. Love your shots, especially th one of the water.
Liz, I loved it on sight....all the houses in Cold Spring Harbor are unique but this one got to me as well!
Sharon, It is beautiful....a place not to miss if you're ever on Long Island.
Gary, We all love him here too...just wish it was easier to get into concerts :)
Cheryl, I loved it too, even the color. We don't have "colorful" houses here (what a shame!).
Sally, It was a "break" for spring. It's still pretty cold (in the 40's) and raining now--for the next 3 days!!
Laurie, Wasn't it nice to see people actually OUTSIDE again? What a horrible winter we had. I'm not sure if the winters get worse every year--or I do :)
Carol, I still love it here and can't believe myself that I'v never seen that ROCk in all my travels to Cold Sring Harbor!
Craig, The fish hatchery is still there and the shops are absolutely unique....things you won't find anywhere else. I love Northport as well...haven't been there lately but it gives me an idea for my next little "road trip."
Teri, Very CUTE! Makes me realize I need to be a little more creative in my comments!
Marzena, I could be the walking spokes-person for both places. I really do love it here.
Cynthia, Thank you. I am off in warmer weather (finally) and I never usually have a destination in mind. It was a beautiful day (and nice memory).
Jennifer, It's a fun town. At night on weekends they have a horse and buggy that will take you down the road :)
I never realized long island had such beauty ... and such music. A lovely post and I enjoyed the adventure.
Interesting. Up until about five mintues ago I had a complete Billy Joel collection of music. Now I find that I'm missing his very first album. I had always thought it was Piano Man. Turns out it was Cold Spring Harbor, released in 1971, two years before Piano Man, and reissued in 1983. I'm off to buy a new album of music it looks like. Thanks for helping me spend some of my money to stimulate the economy.
Carole - any town with a rock is some place special, thanks for the eye-candy and the warm description of it.
Joan, It's a beautiful little town, very unique and feels very "touristy." I always enjoy going there.
Russel, I hadn't known it either. I originally thought the rock was there because he played there or because it is so close to Huntington, his home town. I grew up on Long Island and should have known about the album as well :)
Mike, While walking up to the rock, I didn't think it had any meaning....WRONG! It was a nice find in that lovely town.
