Attention 2012 Here I Come !!

Another great post by Gary, also bringing attention to the New Year of 2012! Please read Gary's post, for he shares another perspective on how to prepare for the New Year.

Via Gary Woltal - Assoc. Broker REALTORĀ® SFR Dallas Ft. Worth (Keller Williams Realty):

Megaphone 2012Christmas and the holidays have come and gone other than New Years. I wrote earlier of these end of year weeks as times to reflect first on WHO we are with our values and then thinking WHAT you want to change in the new year.

Attention 2012 Here I Come !!

I would encourage you this week to pick at least THREE things personal or professional which will make your life and/or the lives of others around you much better for the next 12 months.

Just use this final week of the year to THINK and you will figure out some good things for yourself. THEN commit to three weeks straight of the changes and then you will be good to go. Good Luck!!

Feng Shui New Years Resolution by Feng Shui NY Consultant

Feng Shui New Years Resolution by Feng Shui NY Consultant

Have you written down your New Years Resolutions yet? If not, you still have time!  Be sure to purchase those red envelopes before the New Year rings in.  Choose between 9 or 18 New Year Resolutions to write down.  Think about all the positive change you seek to bring into your life.  Only focus on the positive, this is a very important key element when writing down your intentions.

Focus on the different areas of your life, Wealth, Health, Love, Career, Travel, knowledge, family, creativity, all that is important to you.  Once written down, place your intentions in each of the red envelopes. Traditionally they are to be located underneath your pillow for 9 nights.

80% of Feng Shui starts with your mind, 20% are the actions to take to help manifest your intentions

After Putting Another Log on the Fire

Just for fun, I like this post by Myrl because she gives you an interesting perspective on why she enjoys the certain shows she shares with us in this post.  Perhaps you may feel the same or simply you might want to check them out as well :)

Happy Thursday evening :)

Via Myrl Jeffcoat (Real Living Great West Real Estate):

After celebrating Christmas, but awaiting the New Year, I've been comfortable here at home most evenings watching something on the TV screen, with company being a log or two burning in the fireplace.

When it comes to reading, movies, or watching television, I tend to like keeping it real.  I’m big on documentaries, but there is also an incongruent side to my entertainment tastes, which I don’t understand, even myself.

For example, before the Charlie Sheen meltdown, one of my favorite shows was “Two and a Half Men.”  Even after the Sheen unraveling, and his replacement by Demi Moore’s ex, Ashton Kutcher, I still enjoy that darned show.  But if they ever try replacing Berta, the housekeeper, I’m done!

 2 1/2 Men

Dog The Bounty Hunter

Recently, I’ve been hung up on “Dog the Bounty Hunter.”   Don't ask me why!  I suspect folks who like WWF Wrestling would understand.  But I hate WWF Wrestling.  I am quite fascinated with Dog's wife, Beth - especially her fashion sense.  One thing for certain she puts the Kardashian gals to shame:-)  And it doesn't appear that Beth has had anything surgically enhanced!

However, there is great programming and movies I’ve seen recently, which you and your family might actually be able to enjoy together!

Midnight in Paris

Last evening, I watched the movie, “Midnight in Paris.”  It stars Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams.  This dramatically funny flick by director Woody Allen focuses on a traveling couple in present day Paris.  Owen’s character is a writer, who continues to “time travel” back to Paris in the 1920s, a time many great artists, writers and poets of the day, cavorted together in the city. The movie was just released to CD and is available through Netflix.  It is rated PG 13.  I think it is a movie that will entertain most.

A documentary series, which recently held my interest, “The Story of India.”
This PBS presentation consists of 6 hours of wonderful history of India, accompanied by great photography.  Not only is the series very entertaining, it is exceptionally educational.

I hope you are all enjoying this wonderful holiday season!

Give Yourself A Gift For 2012: Get Your Stuff 'Under Control'

Excellent Feng Shui advice for the new year of 2012! Marie Graham recommends "get your stuff 'under control.'" a very basic Feng Shui principles.  sometimes we need a little help reorganizing...noting wrong with that :)

Via Marie Graham Home Stager (the refreshed home White Plains NY):

Welcome back to my latest series, Give Yourself A Gift For 2012: good ideas and smart people who can help you enter the new year purposefully, with a clear head and lighter heart.

When comedian George Carlin first debuted his routine on "Stuff" in 1981, he observed that sometimes we have so much stuff, that we pay to store some of our stuff...' IMAGINE< an entire industry based on keeping an eye on your stuff!! ' The audience was hysterical-what a concept!

Several years earlier, Business Week made some predictions about business in the future, one was the computer would render us to be a paperless society. HA!

A lesser-known-but correct prediction was our having a computer on every desk, but it has been 'paperless society' that we remember. (Fact is, the boom of affordable desktop copiers-and consumer-oriented retail stores that sell them- helped to more than DOUBLE the worldwide use of paper from 1980 to 2000!)

What was out there and funny then is all too real now. There are a number of things that have brought us to this glut of stuff, but one big question-how to deal with it?

At the least, excess stuff is annoying and inconvenient. It weighs us down, affecting our concentration and productivity; in more severe situations, it can be unhealthy, even life-threatening....sadly, three Westchester residents lost their lives in recent years when fires started in their over-loaded homes...they couldn't get out, and firemen couldn't get in.

As our lifestyles have changed, businesses have grown to meet these needs and provide solutions for for these issues. Organizing is one of those services.

Marcia Sloman was one of the first professional organizers in Westchester county, and her company, Ossining-based Under Control Organizing has been helping Westchester get organized since 1992. I've known of Marcia for years, but it was only after a series of phone calls and emails that we finally, recently met. Minutes into the conversation, it's easy to see why she has been so successful: she is warm and friendly, precise and very focused, but with a light touch.

Numbers on how much time we spend looking for things vary, but all of them give pause: Online I found surveys quoting anywhere from 16 minutes a day (or approximately 1 year of your life) to 55 minutes a day (a mind-numbing almost 14 years of your life!).

Even at the lower end, it's still a lot of time lost...wouldn't that be a great burden to have lifted from your shoulders in the New Year? Getting cleared out and organized not only will save you time and energy, again, you re-claim some valuable real estate in your home. Marcia's services run the gamut, but some of her specialties are managing paper and stuff, and making the most of two finite entities: time, and spaces.

Solutions or systems mean little if they're unrealistic, or, frankly if you don't trust or respect the person coming up with them...it's that way with Staging, too...one great, very user-friendly mindset Marcia recommends to deal with a big project: Divide things into the following groups: Trash, Recycle, Sell, Give Away or Donate.

Organizing styles-especially as far as paper is concerned-also figure strongly into her approach. Marcia creates filing systems for the "In-nies"-those who need stuff to be out of sight, but easily accessible; and can have specialized storage spaces made for those "Out-ies"-folks who need an open, visual display to keep things orderly and find-able.

Bottom line-while having someone help you clean out your closets, your garage, or set up your office might seem like an indulgence, ask yourself: so how's doing it yourself working out for you?

If the answer is not so good, start a conversation, give yourself a gift, and get on with your life!

Curved Architecture in Feng Shui by Long Island Feng Shui

Curved Architecture in Feng Shui by Long Island Feng Shui

Every aspect of Feng Shui can be facilitated into all that you do, including Architecture.  A main principle is to have curved or rounded edges just as you see with the Viana Hotel and Spa

Having a curved front entrance was inspired by the concepts of Feng Shui.  This slight adjustment to the original design helped to create a greater flow of energy around the hotels surroundings.  While at the same time, offsetting the fast moving energy that flows tward the entrance to the hotel.  Those who stay in the Balcony Suites located at the front of the hotel are no longer effected by the constant movement from outside.  This means a peaceful and rejuvenating sleep for Viana's guests.

This home in East Willston had a curved design to the corner of their house.  It may seem a bit out of place but, the curvature is actually protecting them from oncoming energy hitting into their home.  Having this curve, just as with the Viana Hotel, allows the energy to gently flow around the home.

This is the view of the three streets that had the potential to create unsteady energy toward their home

Excellent words of advice by Lou Ludwig, go out and get em'. No business just happens overnight, well some do...but, even before that moment, planning and generating those ideas till that moment became a reality had to happen.  Motivational power from Lou!

As I see it . . . . . . .

Marketing drives your business

Successful businesses do not operate in neutral they have to be put into gear and driven.

A business won’t make progress sitting in neutral and idling. As a business sits there’s and idles it loses traction, market awareness and the world passes it by.

To succeed a business has to be driven with its marketing GPS on.

When you drive your business you’re taking control of the business, your circumstances to aggressively move it forward. With your marketing GPS on, you’re creating the road map to successfully achieve the desires outcome.

Your marketing GPS will help to keep you on course and to make adjustments to your marketing strategies along the way.

In a completive business environment passive marketing and personal promotion will doom a business. A big part of driving your business is to get your message out to your targeted audience in a cost effective and consistent manner to create a flow of customers.

Effective marketing and personal promotion will build your professional image and you brand in the market place to attract customers to you.

Marketing drives your business and tell your story to your target market in an effective and positive manner.

Why your home should have a Feng Shui Aquarium by Laura Cerrano

Why your home should have a Feng Shui Aquarium by Laura Cerrano

Feng Shui Aquarium

The benefits to having a Feng Shui Aquarium in your home are wonderful.  Fish in Feng Shui are seen as a sign of abundance in wealth and also help to positively stimulate the energy in general.  The type of fish tank, fishes and placement of the tank play an important role with enhancing the chi inside your home.

courtesy of bestaquariumsetup.com

Having a round or rectangular fish tank is recommended in Feng Shui.  In general a rounded or curved fish tank helps to create a nice flow of energy within your home.  Looking to the five elements theory "wood" is symbolicly represented by the rectangular shape.  Naturally the fish tank is a water element and according to Feng Shui water helps to grow Wood.  These two elements therefore balance each other.

Gold fish are a basic recommendation to place within your tank.  Traditionally 9 gold fish are suggested but, if your tank can only accommodate smaller amounts, 4 is best.  If you can purchase 9 gold fish, be sure to have at least one that is black or has black in the scale patterns.  If one of the 8 Gold fish passes away, the black one will absorb it's energy to keep the balance until replaced.  The same rule applies if you purchase 4 gold fish, 3 should be gold and 1 black.

Location, Location, Location! A great area to place your Feng Shui fish tank is by the front entrance.   The element associated with your front entryway is water, which is perfect for placement of your Aquarium.  It is a great way to greet the energy, guests and yourself.  Be sure to create an environment within the fish tank that is just as welcoming. Add colorful rocks, gravel, and water plants.

THE JAMIE & LILIAN CAULK MEMORIAL PROJECT

Debe Maxwell is helping to spread the word about raising money for Missy Caulk's family to purchase a memory bench for those they have lost this year.  Please read the post for more details, it's very touching and if you can contribute in any way...please do :)

Via Debe Maxwell - Search Charlotte Homes for Sale - Charlotte NC Neighborhoods (iCharlotteRealEstate.com Savvy + Company Real Estate):

Merry Christmas Eve everyone!

This time of the year is typically spent reflecting on the past year--our experiences, our businesses and our loved ones (not necessarily in that order).  This year has been a whirlwind for most of us and for many, we've shared in the losses of dear friends and family, making this time of the year especially difficult for those who have lost loved ones.

Missy and her Lillie Bear

My dear friends, Missy Caulk and Christa Stewart-Caulk are healing from two very tough family losses this year--they lost Christa's amazing brother (Missy's son), Jamie and Missy's precious granddaughter, Lillie Bear (and Christa's niece), both within a month of each other.

Carol Grub, Cyndee Haydon and a few of our other friends have started a project, “THE JAMIE & LILIAN CAULK MEMORIAL PROJECT” for our friend and fellow ActiveRain member Missy Caulk and her family.  The project is focused on placing a memorial bench in the Caulk family's favorite spot, in honor of their family members, Jamie and Lillian.  We're raising funds to purchase that bench and would love for as many friends of the Caulk family to join us in the dedication in 2012.

Despite the amazing family unity and strength that the Caulk family has, they still need our prayers for comfort and strength.

I have known Missy since I started blogging on ActiveRain in 2007.  She welcomed me with open arms and we quickly became 'virtual' friends until rooming together last year at NAR/RainCamp/REBar Camp in NOLA--in real life!  Prior to NAR, I had flown to Dallas for ActiveRain Camp, where I also met Missy's lovely daughter, to whom I immediately connected!

Spending a week with them gave me such a warm feeling--their family unity is something that we just don't see these days.  I believe each of Missy's boys and her other daughter, Alyssa, phoned her several times while we were together and Christa was with us as much as she was with Bob during the week!!  The love and connection knows no bounds in the Caulk family; they're truly a wonderful example of what 'family' truly is.

There's no time like Christmas Eve to reach out to this wonderful family and offer your love and support for them.  After all, that IS what we do here in the Rain, right?  Please help us spread the word about “THE JAMIE & LILIAN CAULK MEMORIAL PROJECT” focused on dedicating a memorial park bench in Jamie and Lillie Bear’s honor.

How can you help?

  • Continue to pray for comfort and strength for the Caulk family.
  • Help get the word out by socially sharing this post or re-blogging for those who know the Caulk family--OR, write your own blog post about it.
  • Make a donation

How to Make a Donation:

Make checks payable to "The Jamie & Lillian Caulk Memorial Fund"

Mail checks to:

Carol Grubb
3647 W. Greenook Dr.
Ann Arbor, MI 48103

*Be sure to write "The Jamie & Lillian Caulk Memorial Fund" in the memo of your check.

Or send a Paypal gift (as a gift so all funds go towards the fund) to: cyndeehaydon@gmail.com.

PLEASE leave your name(s) & email address(es) to be included in the Caulk's card from everyone who participated.  We'd also like to keep you informed of the details of the upcoming dedication ceremony that is being planned so that hopefully you'll be able to attend as well.

Thank you SO much! Happy Holidays to you and yours!

This is from Cyndee Hayden.  Thanks, Cindy & Carol for spearheading this--your hearts are pure gold!
