Is Feng Shui A Religion? A very common Question: Post by Feng Shui Long Island New York consultant

This can be a very delicate topic.  Feng Shui is still very much new and the awareness is growing every day. One of the on going debates about Feng Shui is that people think of it as a religion.  Feng Shui is not a religion. What sets Feng Shui apart from being a religion is that there is no set place to "pray" or give "worship". Feng Shui has principles to guide you but, in the end each person will experience this practice differently, it is always unique to your life. 

Feng Shui is a mixture of different belief systems. It can coexists with all religions and cultures, if the person implementing Feng Shui into their life allows it to.  The practice and lifestyle of Feng Shui is to be mindful of all and the enviroment.

Laura Cerrano Feng Shui NY consultant helped a spiritual healer enhance his Religious shop in New York.  His concern, was that he did not want to upset the balance of spirituality within his store with the combination of Feng Shui.  The challenge for this type of consultation was to suggest Feng Shui changes for specific areas but, not to disturb the spiritual energy already within that space. In the end, Laura pin pointed a specific area that needed to be addressed and and the shop owner agreed.

Laura always tells her clients, Feng Shui suggestions will be made but, if you are uncomfortable or feel that suggestions are not right for you or your space...you do not have to make the changes. If anything, you can always try and be aware of the changes and see if they are leading you in the right direction.  Being fully open and honest with your  Feng Shui consultant is so important. From Laura's experience she feels it is important that both you and your Fegn shui consultant work together, rather then have your suggestions "dictated" to you.

Feng Shui suggest that you to steer clear of any sharp or pointed edges and objects in your home or buisness.  It's believed your energy, when encountered by these situations is "cut".  How do you know if you have been effected?  You'll feel drained, tired, you may even feel un-centered, and simply uncomfortable. Perhaps you have noticed yourself move away from that type of environment instinctively. Paying attention to detail, even specific types of plants are recommended to be cautious of, such as cactus or anything prickly.

Friday Photo's: Snow day!.....again by Feng Shui LI consultant

 It is so beutifal seeing and being around snow after if falls.  Sky and I took a long walk around town, enjoying the sights and then headed over to grandmas Rose's for some breakfast :) Eggs, Bacon, French Toast and Hot CoCo...mmm mmm good. I belive New York LI reviced between a foot to 18 inches of snow.

Feng Shui and Relationships By Feng Shui LI consultant Laura Cerrano

Have you noticed a good communication and connection with others? Do your friends, loved one, and you have a positive relationship? or are you noticing some uncomfortable situations accruing.

This was the case with a current Feng Shui client in Manhattan New York.  Jason who is 30 years of age expressed great concern that his personal relations with others, even since a young age was never the best. His biggest intention for his Feng Shui consultation was to enhance his personal relations with others and eventually meet the right girl :)

Looking to Jason's environment he had not done much to make his apartment feel welcoming and inviting.  It looked bare and energetically felt still. It seemed as if he had just moved in.  I asked, "how long have you been here"? He replied, " 5 years."  During his time at the apartment, Jason did not want to claim that space as his own or as a place to call home. 

Feng Shui Tip: No matter where you are living it is very important to claim that particular space as your own, even if it's a dormitory or an apartment...because for that "x" amount of time, that will be home. Your home helps keep you grounded and nourishes/replenishes your spirit from the craziness of the outside world.   Before you can invite others into your space physically and energetically, you need to transform the energy to feel welcoming and inviting.

Looking to the location of Jason's bed, I saw it was perched up against the wall.  I asked, " how long have you situated your bed in that position"? He replied, "since I moved in and even when I lived with my parents." This was an eye opener from a Feng Shui perspective.  When you have one side of your bed against the wall, it as if you are blocking new energy, the energy of your loved one or potential lover to come into your life and bedroom. This also relates to other relationships.  Remember Jason mentioned he noticed his relations with others was never great, even from an early age.

Feng Shui Tip: Center your bed the best you can to allow a better flow of energy into your bedroom. This will help to address relationships for personal reasons (friends and romantic). The energy will be able to flow more freely on both sides. This will help open channels of communication to others.

Below is a quick email from Jason after about 3 weeks of making majority of the changes, especially to his bedroom:

Branding your Building or Home as being "Feng Shuied": How do you achieve that? by Laura Cerrano Feng Shui Manhattan NY consultant

This is a really good questions from clients, architects, after giving Feng Shui lectures or by people just simply interested in the topic.  How do you know if a building, business, home, or apartment has been "Feng Shuied"? As of today, there is no National or American recognition, award or certificate for having any of these locations "Feng Shuied".  Feng Shui is very much still in it's "infancy stage". 

The seeds have been planted and the word is out but, so much more awareness, acknowledgment, and respect is needed before being fully recognized. The thing is, the only way for people to believe and understand, is to experience.  This topic is more complex then it seems. The Standards written for Feng Shui would have to vary because each consultant practices differently and their client experience unique outcomes. 

There are various methods to Feng Shui. Some Feng Shui consultants stick to one, others such as myself blend..including with "intuitive Feng Shui". The problem, not everyone agrees with each other on what method works and does not.  We would have to find a balance of standards for all.

Ways of today with how to recognize your space being Feng Shuied from my own perspective and experience

Working with a Certified Feng Shui consultant with years of experience is a great place to start.  Before moving forward with a consultation, talk on the phone and see if you both have a good connection.  Your Feng Shui consultant should be living the lifestyle and practicing continuously. They also need to take steps to advance themselves in other wholistic ways to help better their services for you.  Never stop learning.

The Feel of the energy  It should feel light, calm, welcoming...overall happy and positive. 

The physical Appearance Colors are typically light, not overly dark...but, you can balance both (Think ying and yang).  You'll see and feel a balance of the five elements through out the entire space. Textures are usually soft and furniture is rounded or curved.

The Spiritual aspect You are motivated to achieve your life goals, you are excited for life...even during times that are challenging.   You will be healthier and have more energy.  You will also have more compassion and love for others.

The votes are in for "the best of LI" by the Long Island Press.  Carole Provenzale had the honor of being nominated over hundreds of Wholistic practitioners...but, unfortunately did not get the final Honor of being "the best on LI".

Even though Carole did not win the"title" by the Long Island Press for being the best, those who knew her, we already know she was the best and always will be :)

The Power of Patience in Feng Shui: The Deeper Meaning by Feng Shui New York Consultant

Feng Shui can be a tricky concept at times, especially if you are just starting to learn the process. There are so many levels to address, physically, spiritually and emotionally.  It requires dedication, focus, determination for your life goals and Patience.

A common question before and after completing a Feng Shui Consultation is "How long will it be before the changes take affect"? This is a great question and the answer is...it always depends on that persons given situation, current lifestyle and perspective on life.  Typically, changes can accrue within 2 weeks and for some it may be even sooner.  We have had clients notice shifts in energy the very next day or a few days after.  For others, it's a much longer process because they need to address more of the spiritual and emotional aspects in their life with Feng Shui. 

Remember, Feng Shui is not a "cure" to all of life's problems, it is a way to enhance your lifestyle. You are responsible for helping to shift the energy as well. Any Master in Spiritually will tell you the same.

After making the changes you need to act on them. Many times those who are new to Feng Shui will make the changes but, show concern that nothing is happening.  If this is the case you need to ask yourself: I made changes in my home but did I translate them to the outside world as well? Am I being honest with myself about specific issues I may have to address in order to move forward? Am I being patient and allowing the process time to manifest my intentions?

Being patient, is key.  I know personally when I first started learning about Feng Shui, I would ask the same question.  When I allowed myself to stop expecting the changes to occur in a certian way, my perspective changed and that is when I say my intentions become a reality.  Then, I understood the process.  Feng Shui is like a garden...you are creating a "life garden."  You know what you want to grow, so you plant the seeds. You feed them, nourish them, and watch them mature...you are patient with the process because you know it takes time.

 When changes occur, they may not always come in the way you expect but, in any matter they are always for the positive. Feng Shui reveals the truth and the universe provides you with what you need to help reach your destination.
