if you have ever lived on Long Island NY or even made a visit, one thing you will have noticed across Long Island are the scores of malls and shopping.  they seem to cover one end of li to the Hampton's and quite honestly we don't need that many.  However, if malls are your thing, you will be able to find every single type of store your looking for here on Long Island. 

We carry everything from top brand department stores, such as Bloomingdale's to Sax to our smaller unique store such as Payless shoes, restaurants and cafe`s.  a simple walk thou roseveltfield mall in Garden City ny will turn up your favorit bag of bones.

Further north east on Long Island, you'll come across Walt whitman mall in Melville NY.  You can find moderately priced stores like the Gap, my personal favorite BeBe and Godiva Chocolate, Laura's favorite.  While it's known long islanders spend exuberant amounts of time in the mall, they do not rival the beautiful parks of Long Island New York.

Say What!? Who doesn't like the New York City Ferry rides? Maybe they are not so bad after all.  Maybe the world can stand a few more Scully.  This magnificent ferry ride called The New York Ferry Way takes you around the Manhattan NYC skyline to view spectacular architectural wonders and historical landmarks. 

Not long Long after leaving our lovely Feng Shui consultation on the upper west side of Manhattan in NYC, Laura and I decided to take a quick tour. We began our adventure from the mid-town NY port and traveled our way past the Hudons Miracle site to Down town New York by the Financial district.

It was such a fun experience for all.  We had the choice to sit below or above on the New York Ferry to view the  City skyline.  I sure wish there was more New York City landscape to go around.  From the huge skyscraper to the beautifully designed corporate buildings, architecture and never ending sites of Manhattan New York are what you step into everytime.

After a recetn Feng Shui consultation in the lovely negbhood of Bethpage Long Island NY, Laura Cerrano of Feng Shui Manhattan and I decided to stop off at one of our favirit bites to eat Zorn's. You might have on in your very own neithbohood.

 Zorn's is a Bethpage Family run Business for 70 Years.  Zorn's is located on Hempstead Turnpike in Bethpage, NY.  It is one of the oldest take out food businesses on Long Island, since 1940.  Zorn's first began as a small retail store selling fresh turkeys at their location, which at the time was primarily farmland.  As a small child I remember my father and I visiting the petting zoo they had on the side of the building and picnic tables where you could eat outside.

 From selling turkeys, Zorn's eventually added fresh eggs, baked breads and other small items to their menu due to customer requests.  In 1949, Zorn's was one of the first to offer rotisserie chickens cooked over an open flame in barbecue ovens.  This family owned business truly pioneered in the retail take out food industry.  Today, Zorn's continues cooking with the family recipes and traditionally cooking methods as to preserve that quality taste that so many have come to love.

Mama Mia! You Think Farmingdale NY doesn't Have Pizza!?  It's sad to me to see all the wonderful original store that remain closed in Farmingdale village for so many years.  Farmingdale NY seems to be making some what of a come back in their for sale homes and closers.   People are able to buy beautiful properties at a fraction of what they go for in lovely Long Island NY. Apparently one thing we will not be lacking is Pizza.

While plesently strolling the other day in Farmingdale Village, I stopped dead in my tracks because I noticed there are not one or two, but three pizzerias on the same block.  I wonder what would make this tiny section of Long Island want three pizzerias in such close proximities of each other.  Gino's Pizza has been in Farmingdale for more than 25 years.  This is the spot to meet up after school and work, I don't believe it's a landmark but it could be some day.  The inside still has it's original wall tiles.

A little further down the block is what was going to be County Bakery and will soon be, Singas Pizza. This pizzaria will offer small personal pan pizzas...but wait, I just had a thought.  If you travel to down town Farmingdale Village, you'll come across yet another pizzeria, Domino's, who also offers personal pan pizzas.

Across the street from Singas is the last pizzeria called Cascarino's.  This pizza restaurant will offer not only pizza, but full meals you can choose from as well.  In all, you'll never be short of any pizza in Farmingdale NY again!  Each Pizzeria will have a unique  taste for their customers.  Enjoy!

I wanted to share some local historical information about my home town of Farmingdale New York.  This house is not for sale, but there are other gems in Farmingdale NY.  The history of Long Island NY was originally occupied by Native Americans. One of the first settlers Thomas Powell, purchased land from local Natives in 1687.  These are what we now know as Bethpage, Farmingdale, Old Bethpage, Plainedge, Plainview and Melville-all located on Long Island NY.  Today the home is kept and maintained by the the Long Island historical society.

The Misconceptions and Misinformation of Feng Shui.....by Feng Shui Long Island & New York

We ALL have an intuition that tells us if something feels good or not...and if the Energy doesn't feel right to you, just change it back.

 Dreadful consequences (IMOHP) will not hurt you; It's often the "little" steps take in LIFE that go on to inspire us to do more, try more and look at things in a way we never had before.  It can be, in fact, one of our biggest motivators.

Haing said that, Feng Shui is "guessesstimated" to be an Ancient Art  between Three to Five THOUSAND years old.  There are no early books on Feng Shui because it was (and still is in many methods) an ORAL TRADITION that was mean to  be passed  from "Mentor to Student" only.

Yet in a shameless effort to sell their own EBooks, I see more and more Feng Shui Consultants taking on assignments in which they are paid for their role to write...which is fine.  What does bother me so much is that they are PUBLISHING what should be considered Sacred Information  ...right on the Internet.  In reading them I was even MORE appalled that most of them were filled with misinformation as well!

In Feng Shui, there is a  right way and a wrong way to carry out some of what the Black Sect Schools teach as these Blessings yet they are not covered in these articles.  Coupled with the fact that they should not be published at ALL, I have noticed an alarming new trend.

Scroll down to the very end and you may find a shameless "plug" for an Ebook.  Some Feng Shui Consultants are leaving out important steps to take , Auspicious times to do the Blessings (which can be crucial) and, in some cases, different reasons behind WHY we are using them.

If you've read my blogs for any amount of time, I am all for doing and creating simple, inexpensive and fun methods to change the Energy in your Space.  It often inspires you to do more, try more or look into Feng Shui a bit more closely.  However, in a certain Method of Feng Shui, since it was and always should be an "Oral" Tradition, you will not see me publish anything that is considered Sacred.

This is especially true when we use The  Red Envelope Tradition which is a method to protect ourselves from sharing this Sacred Information AND an "honor" to have been provided with it by our Feng Shui Consultants.

There are some excellent Authors out there who practice Feng Shui from all different Methods and Perspectives.  For Western Feng Shui, anything by Terrah Kathryn Collins is wonderful.  Another book, "Feng Shui Made Easy" by William Spear is a wonderful guidebook for Feng Shui.  Black Sect and Native American writers such as Denise Linn and Sarah Rossbach (who was an actual Direct Disciple of Professor Lin Yun) are all good books to read.

Please be careful with what is now published on the Internet!  If you're thinking of making some simple changes yourself or hiring a reputable Feng Shui Consultant, there are now many to choose from.  Look for past experience instead of Certifications and try to get recommendations.

Coming out of a Feng Shui Consultiation near the West Village in New York City, Laura and I came across interisting Artwork.  There is Feng Shui Artwork, landscapes, abstract paintings and then there is functional interactive artwork.   This installation is located in the Hudson River Park at New York City on the West Side, it is called "Two too large tables."  This functional artwork installation was designed and created by Allan and Ellen Wexler. Every time you explore NYC you always come across something new and exciting to stimulate your appetite for the Arts. What is so captivating about these installation pieces is that you can interact and be part of history.  Location of Installation pieces if your ever in Manhattan NY and want to check out these great creations -Chelsea Upland Park near Pier 66 Cross at W.26th St.  This playful sculptures brought curiosity and a smile to those who passed, rested or ate a quick New York minute lunch.

Long Island NY Feng Shui DESIGN....Where's Your Vision?  A Feng Shui Makeover in Mineola Long Island New York

Laura Cerrano of Feng Shui Manhattan New York and I both loved Karen, our Feng Shui Client who had just moved into a Small Co-op in Mineola Long Island NY.

Despite battling breast cancer, Karen had an upbeat attitude and positive outlook.  "I'm gong to be FINE with a little Feng Shui."  Karen was downsizing from a large home in Great Neck to this small Co-op in Mineola for the year she thought she'd need to get her treatments.

After that, she said, she wanted to move to "Sunny Florida."  Karen also gave us a list of RULES in Re-Designing her Space on Long Island with Feng Shui

• Certain items STAYED.  She didn't care if they "fit" or not, she loved them and she wanted them.
• Aside from the Cost of the Feng Shui Consultation, she wasn't going to spend a

PENNY.  Not one single Cent.

We could hardly blame her....she wanted a Make Over with Feng Shui Principles that would help her heal and after that, she was leaving.  When doing Design with or without Feng Shui, you sometimes need to have a real Vision.  It helps me to put myself in my client's "shoes" if I can to see what she is feeling and realize that your surroundings affect you in a positive or negative attitude.  Surround yourself with things you LOVE.

"Just FIX it" was what she said....and we did.  Karen chose the pieces of Furniture and Accessories she wanted to keep and the rest could go into storage.  Almost every one of our suggestions for this Feng Shui Makeover was a challenge.  She'd gotten used to sleeping in a certain way and liked the couch where it was.

Opening UP a Space with things you LOVE.  A place for sleeping, working, eating, resting and Healing in Feng Shui.

Just telling someone they need to move something for Good Feng Shui doesn't help...they need a reason behind it.  We explained to Karen that she needed to "Open Up" her Health Area which was weighed down by the couch and dresser.  In Feng Shui Makeovers, we need to leave room for the new Energy.

After a bit of a battle but in keeping every one of the pieces Karen wanted, she decided to take our suggestions and open up the Spaces for Feng Shui Healing.  She didn't spend a dime and had a friend of hers move some of the larger pieces of furniture under Laura's and my direction. 

Using what your client has....and making it WORK :)

I spoke with Karen after the Feng Shui Consultation and she was feeling much better, despite the treatments.  Within the year, she gave up her Co-op and was happily relocated to "Sunny Florida."  Her breast cancer was gone.

Recently, Laura Cerrano of Feng Shui Manhattan New York City and I received a call for a Feng shui Consultation in a New York City building we had never heard of called "Element" located on The Upper West Side of Manhattan. 

We were unfarmiliar with the lovely building and realized our Feng Shui Client had recently purchased one of the lovely Condos in this realatively new, luxury high rise in New York City.  She was looking for a Color Consultations and some decorating advice in choosing new furniture for her beautiful new space in Manhattan NY.

We were struck by the natural amount of Sunlight that poured in from the Outside, creating a Yin/Yang balance in this beautiful New York City high rise filled with Condos, Apartments and The Penthouse Suites.  It is perfectly located on the Upper West Side of New York City and close to both Central Park and Lincoln Center.

We spent a lovely day helping her choose some beautiful colors that she felt good surrounded with that also addressed Feng Shui Principles and then went to a few select Furniture Stores to assisit her in finding just the right type of furniture that would keep the feeling of the open spaces in her NYC Condo while allowing her to work freely and comfortably in her lovely new Feng Shui Home.

Our Manhattan Feng Shui Client was very happy with our Consultation I'm thrilled to say.  When we left she asked for a bunch of business cards....to hand out to friends and neighbors in this lovely New York City High Rise on the Upper West Side of Manhattan New York City.
