Feng Shui New York-A Reversal of Fortune

Some people still wonder how the art of Feng Shui can truly have such profound impacts on all areas of a client's life.  It is surely about the Feng Shui physical changes that Feng Shui Consultants suggest for your home but it is SO MUCH MORE THEN THAT.

As a Feng Shui Consultant in New York, I find people still confused with the true meanings of other ways to change their lives.  By far, the MOST profound is their thoughts-their Intentions.

It's a process, no doubt about it.  It takes a while to keep a "mental check" on your words and your thoughts.  When I'm with my clients, I will often gently re-phrase the way they say something.

A Few Thoughts to Help YOU Change your thoughts:

Change the "IF" to a "WHEN"

Instead of saying or thinking IF I get enough money-say WHEN I get enough money.

Change the "Cant"s to CANS.  I CAN do this....and I WILL.

When I was growing up, I had a teacher who never allowed us to say the word "can't."  If I said "I can't DO this," she wouldn't answer.  I'd have to re-phrase it to "I'm having difficulty doing this."  She'd come right over and show me exactly how to do it.

You get the idea.  On a recent Feng Shui Consultation in New York City in a beautiful condo, the husband and wife were both listening to me explaining this...and, on occasion, re-phrasing.  The husband "got it"  He started to changes his wife's words a second after they came out.  Now they could "catch" each other.

It's hard...and it takes time and work.  Energetic Work.  Want to do something good for your business RIGHT now?  Just say "WHEN:......

A Feng Shui Consultant in Smithtown Long Island New York

Coming home from a Feng Shui Consultation on Long Island last week, we passed it-The Smithtown BULL.  Anyone who is from Long Island is familiar with this Bull and he's located on a very busy intersection.  Still, LOCALISM was calling me-and risking life and limb, I managed to get a few shots of him.

Meet Whisper.  He's pretty famous around here but more for directions..."Make a Right at the Bull" is pretty common to hear.  So is "You can't MISS it" - and you CAN'T.

The Smithtown Long Island Bull is 14 Feet high and was erected in honor of the Founder of Smithtown.  (I'm pausing here to see if you can guess his name : )

Legend has it that Mr. SMITH made a deal with the Indians.  They would allow him to keep any land that he covered while riding his Bull, Whisper, in one day.  No one knows if this legend is true or not, but it's a fun tale.

It is not always well known how many people fought over Long Island.  The Indians were overtaken by the English, who were taken over by the Dutch until the English got it back.  There are only a very few small places that the Indians still inhabit on Long Island.  They have a Pow Wow every year and if you start off very early in the morning, you just might make it.

Feng Shui in New York:  Sherie's Story

Feng Shui in Huntington New York-This is a sad story.  If you're looking for a "pick me up" you might want to move along to another post .There are also lessons here for ALL of us.

Last year Laura Cerrano and I did a Feng Shui Consultation in beautiful Huntington Long Island in New York.  I didn't write about my clients at the time, their story was personal.  I did write about the beautiful area of Huntington: Feng Shui in Huntington Long Island-- New York

Sherie had contacted me for a Feng Shui Consultation.  She was having health issues, she told me, and wanted to see if there were any blockages in her home.  I am often contacted for Feng Shui Consultations regarding health and, in almost ALL cases, you can "see" what might be blockages-what might need to be changed to open up an area and allow the energy to flow.

Sometimes we see a lack of Elements.  We believe in The Five Element theory and address that as well.  Sherie is a young mother with two beautiful pre-school children and a wonderful husband that is truly her soul mate.  I remember her saying they "finished each other's sentences."

I also remember her telling me that until a month or two prior, she was living the "perfect life."  She told us as we sat down to address her issues that she had been recently diagnosed with cancer.  Back and shoulder pain that she thought would go away eventually drove her to see her physician. 

It's "Mother Stress" she was told.  She was told that again on a follow up visit-and again, when she was STILL having pain.  She wasn't sent for any tests although a five minute non invasive CT Scan would have showed her cancer. 

Until she finally insisted, it seemed no one listened to her.  I've had this happen to me more often then I can say and I know what she felt like getting ‘brushed off' by the very people who should be LISTENING to you.

She was the picture of health at the time.  Laura and I are especially careful with ANYTHING in an environment that can potentially cause health issues.  In Sherie's home, we could find nothing.  Not a thing-- which is very unusual.  Her home was open, warm and inviting and there was proper placement of ALL the Elements.

We made several suggestions, did clearings inside and out and hugged her goodbye.  Driving home that day, Laura and I were both quiet.  Finally she voiced exactly what I had been thinking---Is it possible the Doctors are WRONG?  How I wish they were.

Days, weeks and finally months passed and I was so reluctant to call-I was afraid I would seem intrusive.  The energy and my thoughts of her became so intense I finally forced myself to pick up the phone.

Sherie has been through more treatments then most of us could imagine.  She has lung cancer, bone cancer and it has metastasized to her brain.  She was happy to hear from me and it broke my heart to hear this news.  Yet she stays positive, despite the pain which at times is agonizing.  She is truly a beautiful soul.

She made me aware of a group on Facebook  (which I had just joined  I Got the Surprise of my Life! -there are NO coincidencesand I wanted to share it with you for prayers for Sherie and her family while they go through this terrible time.

I believe in Energy Intensified.  And I believe in the power of prayer-no matter who or what you believe in.  Those good thoughts and blessing ALL help; I have seen miracles in the past and hope for another one.

I got the Surprise of my Life!

Yet ANOTHER "Social Networking" site.  Yes, I know many of you have been on them for a long time but honestly, I can't keep up with it all.  I read all the posts about Twitter (which I am still struggling with) and finally decided I HAD to do it...I joined Facebook.

I remember Facebook when my children were using it.  It kept crashing my computer (and still does!) and I dreaded the thought of trying to figure out yet another site.  I joined, finally-for Business.  And got the surprise of my life.

I already KNEW so many people, my Activerain family.  Within minutes it seemed I had ‘hellos' and ‘greetings' and ‘happy to see you' notes!  How nice this group is-what a wonderful welcome!  In the few days I've been on exploring I have found even MORE surprises.

Long, LONG lost friends from Jr. High School!  Catching up is nothing short of a blast and brings me back to some times in my life that were SO much fun.  "Do you believe we DID that?" is a common question we keep asking each other.  It's almost as if no time has passed at all.

There is a group for people that have just grown up on Long Island.  Another wonderful group I stumbled on:  Six Degrees of Separation (you know I joined that one : ).  I have located long lost cousins and even one client that I had done many years ago.

There is rarely a time that I don't check my email and see there's a note or message for me.  And I have to go check it out. 

I'm still learning my way around.  In just a few days I can't quite BELIEVE how many connections I have made and how much FUN I've been having!  If you've put off Facebook because you just can't handle another site, you'll love it.  And your Activerain family will be right there to welcome you!

 The Gift of a Garaughty-With a little Cheese on Top

In most people's world, it is called "Paying it Forward."  To a New York Feng Shui Consultant, we simply see it as "Helpful People," my all time favorite area of the Bagua. One thing I am always mindful of is to address those Helpful People in your life...honor them and more will follow.

We've ALL had this happen at one time or another.  We'll mention something to someone we have just met or a friend-and they just happen to know the PERFECT Person for what you are looking for.  You've just saved countless hours of trying to find someone who can help you with whatever it is you need:  a good doctor, a great repairman, perhaps even the love of your life.

When I think of the Synchronicity of Feng Shui, I am convinced after years of practicing this lovely art that it most often starts at "Helpful People."  It continues through the Bagua (and your Intentions) to create things you may not have believed imaginable.

A crash course on Helpful People in Feng Shui:  I call the Helpful People in MY LIFE the 3 o'clock in the morning people.  The ones that will truly come to help you no matter what time it is or where you are.  Most of us have few of them but those we have are treasured; and we could ALL use MORE.

This area of the Bagua is generally located after walking in the Front Door and turning to the RIGHT.  Choose a table or shelf in that area if you can.  If you don't happen to have a space in this particular area, CHOOSE an area for Helpful People.  You are going to Acknowledge them.  It's easy to do.

Put up a picture of a truly helpful person.  Or you can choose something that perhaps they have given you.  If you have nothing, simply write their name on a card and put it in the same area.  Put them all together and  (here's the KEY), put them WITH THE INTENTION OF DRAWING EVEN MORE HELPFUL PEOPLE IN.

A recent example:  For some who have read about the never-ending issues with my home, I have had my land graded not once, but TWICE.  I was careful in my selection.  As careful as I could be.  When the ice finally melted this year, it make a landslide....back to my foundation, the very thing I was trying to keep the water AWAY from.

The prospect of calling in yet MORE people was more then I could think about.  I put it off...and addressed Helpful People.  (Yes, I know, it sounds impractical but it WORKS).  On my Feng Shui Consultation recently in East Meadow Long Island, I asked my client what his line of work was.  Do I have to tell you?  Masonary.  While his company normally now does large projects for schools and hospitals, he said he would be glad to come and look at my house.  Helpful? 

One thing to never forget:  If you STOP acknowledging Helpful People, they will stop coming.  Don't forget to add people as they come into your life, even if it's only temporarily.

As most of you know, he completely revamped my blog.  What most of you probably DON'T know is the time and trouble he went through to do it.  When he asked me for accounts to sign into so he could add them, I didn't remember them.  Or, in the case of MyBlogLog, I had signed up for it but had never done anything with it.  Poor Marti.  I confused him-and myself while we BOTH tried to figure out what I had done in each place we went to. 

He spent at LEAST double the time it normally would have taken him.  I'm willing to bet he wonders how I even manage to blog  Did he get annoyed with me?  Probably, but he's way too much of a gentleman to ever say so!  He completely redesigned my blog-header and all-AND was a PLEASURE to work with.  So if you've commented or sent me an email (even from new family members on Activerain), go visit Marti.  If you have a problem, he'll fix it!

As for the "Cheese" on Top.  Well, Sally Celeste "SALLY" Cheeseman HAWAII Relocations & Real Estate ... saw my new blog...and loved it.  Except I was sitting in a booth, very visible in the picture.  I work up to an email one day that said "I hope you don't mind."   She had taken her time to edit the booth right out of the picture!  I didn't even ASK......

Just TWO, out of SO many, who contribute above and beyond to this community.  Truly HELPFUL PEOPLE.  Oh, and my home will be re-graded again shortly (third time's a charm).  Who has helped you recently?  Or, even better, who have YOU helped?

Oyster Bay Long Island New York--No More Feng Shui?

There is always so much to see and do in the lovely town of Oyster Bay Long Island and I spend a great deal of time there.  I often write about it and show pictures of my favorite places.

That ended today.  Despite the cold temperatures, Laura and I decided to stop for a breath of fresh air on our way back from a Feng Shui Consultation.  One of our favorite places is The Planting Fields, a historic site in Oyster Bay New York.

In New York if you want to visit many places, you must pay an Entrance Fee.  Seems fair and we're used to them rising every year.  If you want to visit Jones Beach in Wantagh Long Island, you pay a fee.  Most parks are like that as well and we both purchase passes each year so we don't have to pay every time we'd like to stop for a few minutes at a place.

Back to Oyster Bay...and the Planting Fields.  Aside from an admission into the park, if you'd like to tour COE HALL, the beautiful historic mansion on the site, there is an additional fee.

We really just wanted to stop and see the Greenhouses.  The Main Greenhouse in the Planting Fields is just beautiful and it's the place we go to reconnect with Nature.  The camera is always nearby.

THIS is what we found today:

I will call tomorrow but I'm presuming now that if you'd like to take pictures, there will be a fee for that as well.  It's the SEOND time this week we were not permitted to take pictures, one being in the beautiful town of Port Jefferson on the North Shore of Long Island.

What is going ON?  It's Sunday....and I was almost speechless :: )

Hmmm, This COULD have been from last year.....

I believe this New York Feng Shui Consultant will head back to Central Park-to my knowledge you can still take pictures there for free!

To Forgive is Necessary but Should we Forget?

Sometimes people hurt us deliberately.  Often times it is not deliberate but they may still have wounded us in some way.  Forgiving can be a difficult process to work through.

In the beginning we often sit around and wonder WHY.  Or how COULD they do that to me?  It can eat away at your heart, your mind and your soul.  While forgiving someone can be difficult, I have long believed it is an act done for US more then for THEM.

It releases us and sets us free to stop thinking about a sad and hurtful situation-AND the person that created it.  But I have long wondered (and still do at times) if we should FORGET.  If we all have lessons to learn in this life then the act of Forgetting may well make us forget the lesson-and we are bound to repeat it.

In 1994 I believed I would not be able to practice Feng Shui for quite a while.  I worried so much about my business and was seeking just the RIGHT person who I felt would be mindful and able to learn all that was necessary to benefit clients.

I thought I had.  She was actually a former client of MINE that I had remained friends with.  I knew her to be a kind, caring, empathetic person who believed fully in Feng Shui and followed it's principles.

THERE WAS NO DEAL IN WRITING.  My Mistake.  After spending extensive hours with her teaching her and bringing her on Feng Shui Consultations with me, we both felt she was ready.  The "spoken" agreement we had was that she would take care of the business and handle it while I was unable to work.  She would not practice Feng Shui within 30 miles of my location when I resumed working.

I paid to add her to my website and just before I had the contact information changed, I got a request to speak for a rather large, prestigious group in a Corporation.  Although I wanted to do the job, I felt it wasn't right.  I gave it to her and she got resulting work from it---MUCH WORK.

I realized after a short time that she appeared to love the business and I told her that if I were to take it back, she was welcome to stay on.  We could split the work and would both retain our bios and pictures on the site. 

Just two months later, I received a very confusing email.  It was from another local Feng Shui Consultant asking what I was doing and why I had two IDENTICAL sites.  I followed the link she sent to find that that my "partner" had developed her OWN website; and she had copied MINE literally word for word.

I was sick at heart.  She didn't tell me anything about HER site, she was in the same areas and she had copied my site as if she couldn't figure out how to write up her OWN site.  I have always worked so hard to protect my name and I felt it was being trashed.

She did not return my calls.  I had her information removed from my site and emailed her to please write her own site.  I recall that she changed a few words here and there but that was all.

I was crushed that someone I trusted SO MUCH would do this to me.  I realized at that time that some perfectly GOOD people change (sometimes drastically) when MONEY  was involved.

It took me almost a year to forgive her.  I remember writing her an email telling her that I did and wishing her well-and Meaning it.  And a curt response back.

When I went to check her site about a year later, it was gone....completely vanished.  I've never heard from her or about her again.

I do believe to forgive someone but I don't believe we should FORGET the valuable lessons that usually come about during some very difficult times.  I do FORGIVE for MYSELF but I no longer FORGET.  What about you?

 Energy Intensified...Come to Wantagh Long Island for Billy's Bash

I have always believed that one person can make a difference in someone else's life.  I also believe in Energy INTENSIFIED where there are many people helping to make a difference.  Sometimes we see miracles or dreams manifest in a way that almost doesn't seem real.

Wantagh Long Island.  I grew up there and it's also known as "The Gateway to Jones Beach."  I love it there and there are few places that step in these days to really help make a difference in someone's life.  Except for Mulcahy's.  They have many benefits there to help people from Long Island....they remember the gift of "Paying it Forward."

So does my son, Adam Schumacher.  Just a few years ago he rebuilt the unsafe deck at The Jones Manor so the elderly residents could go outside.  He also recently did his first "Polar Bear Swim" and will be returning next year.  He asked me to post this in the hopes some people would like to come to this very important benefit.  Even with times being hard, this family needs help and one little boy in particular.

Billy Christianson is an amazing little 4 year old from Bellmore Long Island New York who is battling a very rare form of Epilepsy called Infantile Spasms.  Epilepsy Foundation-Epilepsy Foundation-trusted, reliable ...

Billy has multiple seizures every day, cortical blindness and severe global developmental delays.  He recently had two reconstructive hip surgeries.

A Feng Shui Consultant in Oyster Bay Long Island

Sometimes I believe Long Island has Feng Shuied itself.  Just a tiny glimpse of the wonderful Spring that we've all been waiting for came on a day that was predicted to break a record and hit 60 degrees.  The weather men were off a bit.  Long Island hit 70!

I don't believe ANYONE stayed home.  Laura and I decided to head up North to the lovely town of Oyster Bay.  It was time to reconnect with Nature, spend time OUTSIDE after a very long winter.  As you can see in the photos, the snow hadn't even melted yet after a whopping 14" had hit our area.

If you wander just beyond Oyster Bay, you will end up in a beautiful place called Oyster Bay Cove.  We are doing a Feng Shui Consultation in Oyster Bay next week...and doubt we'll have the weather we had on Saturday.

Long Island has some of the highest taxes in the Country.  As a matter of fact, EVERYTHING costs more here.  These shots show why Long Islander's complain...but don't leave unless they HAVE to : )
