One of the things I love about Activerain is that I am constantly amazed by the sheer number of people who are reading this site.  When I wrote about the Village of Farmingdaleand the issues I am having, I received several emails from others who have had the same experience.  When my recent post about Plagarism was posted, I received so MANY personal emails of other Feng Shui Consultants who have had the same issue with the SAME person.

This, then, is a personal request.  I have written several times about visiting the Air Force Memorial held in Farmingdale Long Island at Republic Airport as a way to honor my dad, Lt. Colonel Peter F. Provenzale.  And I have shown several planes from the wonderful shows put on right here in Farmingdale Long Island New York.  I even wrote about a wonderful "Earth Angel" I came across the last time I attended who told me stories and gave me a personal tour of this wonderful Air Force Memorial sponsored by Newsday.  Lt. Not long ago I received a contact from my cousin who I haven't seen or heard from in a long time.  He called to advise me that he had been to the 8^th Air Force Group Museum and had found my father's portrait REMOVED.  When he went to inquire, THEY FOUND NO RECORD OF MY FATHER HAVING SERVED IN THE AIR FORCE.  He was quite alarmed and when he advised me, so was I. Memorial Day in Farmingdale, Long Island, New York--A bit of History by Feng Shui Long Island & NYC

The 8^th Air Force Historical Society now has no record of my father who flew in the 351^stgroup as Navigator of an airplane named The Argonaut by the pilot with the same name.  He actually attended a reunion in 1978 with people he had flown with including Ben Schohan, Roscoe M. Pierson, Ted Randall, and Kenneth Huls.  I have all the documentation I need, however, this is NOT an issue with the 8^th Air Force Historical Society, it is an issue with the Federal Government and will likely take a long time to resolve.

Again, I went to Farmingdale Long Island Air Force Museum located at Republic Airport while they were having the Air Show.  This time with my own personal "mission."  I went to see if my Angel was there and sure enough I saw him, explained what I had discovered and he was almost as upset as I was.  Lt. Colonel Peter F. Provenzale was awarded, among other things, The Silver Star, The Distinguished Flying Cross, 3 Air Medals, Purple Heart, 2 Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbons, Presidential Unit Citation, American Defense Service Metal, National Defense Service Metal and Armed Forces Reserve Metal.

I was told that my best hope in getting this resolved would be to find someone named GUS - Gutave Nathan in Yonkers New York.  I have not been able to find any other information.  I apologize for a post of a purely personal nature, will advise AR that I do NOT want points for it and please don't feel compelled to comment.  I am just  hoping with the Google Power of Activerain, someone can assist me.

On a recent Feng Shui Consultation on Long Island I was asked a question by my clients that I have been asked over and over in the past....Most people that call me in for a consultation are particularly sensitive to ENERGY.  The FEEL it and it causes great distress.  They feel it in their co-workers, their "friends" and even their own family.

This Feng Shui Consultation was in the lovely town of Huntington Long Island New York where the couple has purchased a lovely, small home that they adored.  They had brought the furniture and accessories from their previous home and had decided for now to keep it while eventually incorporating new pieces when they could afford it.

I liked the way they had temporarily set it up...it allowed a good flow of Energy into the space, kept their health area clear and we discussed what the home WAS lacking which were the elements.  We also discussed the types of furniture she should look for when she is able to afford new items.  She specifically asked me about a glass table and in her particular space, in my opinion, a round glass table would give the room a more open and airy feeling then the heavy furniture they currently owned.

Some of her questions were so specific, I finally had to ask WHY she was asking them.  She then told me that her family was extremely critical of the way she had placed her furniture---which was just the beginning.  Her family was actually very critical of EVERYTHING, she said, from her job to her marriage.  It was causing her such emotional unhappiness, I asked her to back off a bit from them.

It isn't easy to tell my clients this, particularly when it's family but sensitive people can become PHYSICALLY sick when they are surrounded by negative energy...and nothing is more important then your health.  We enhanced her CAREER area to help her find a different position as well to get her out of her job and into a better atmosphere. 

It's sad to say that some people are going to be critical of you no matter WHAT you do.  And it seems to become worse when they see they can have quite an effect on you.  You must take your life and control back from these people.  Unfortunately, with family is can be more difficult but not impossible.  You are simply less available.  After a while, you may notice a shift-they are so happy when they finally DO see you, they stop criticizing and are just happy to have you around. 

If any of you are experiencing these feelings from others, take a well needed step back.  Don't fall into the ‘guilt' people are happy to throw our way.  Your INACTION, in this case, becomes ACTION and gives you your power back, something you never want to lose.

As a Feng Shui Consultant in New York and Long Island, I am often asked questions about how Feng Shui relates to bathrooms.  Feng Shui is often very literal in the way we think of and SEE things and in Feng Shui, we think of DRAINS.

We are more careful about bathrooms because we do believe in drain energy.  Some Feng Shui Consultants warn that an improperly placed bathroom can lead to enormous issues in life.  And that's often what we were taught by a number of teachers.  Then again, there are Western methods in Feng Shui to deal with these issues which are simple to do and inexpensive.  We don't tell our clients to move (hopefully) as that is impractical (and impossible) for many.

We don't, on the other hand, want anything to "go down the DRAIN."  In thinking about bathrooms, we deal with where they are and make some standard suggestions.  You might want to try them:

Keep the Door CLOSED:  Sometimes an issue with children, we do recommend you keep the bathroom doors closed to contain the drain energy.  Then again, there are many cat lovers out there and it has to be kept open.  In my perspective (and mine only : ), do not change their litter space.  Keep it open for Fluffy and remember that bathrooms are also a Water Energy so you are now adding FIRE there.  **Be sure to check the other elements, you want a balance!

Put the Seat DOWN:  There's a lot of flushing going on, it's best to keep the seat down when not in use.  Again, you may have to remind the kids (and sometimes hubby) but they learn.

Put a plant ON the TANK:  When you add a plant (with round leaves, please) on top of the tank you are intentionally adding Life Force and deflecting the flow of energy upward.  If you don't have a window for a live plant, use a silk one, not dried !

Do NOT have a MIRROR REFLECT any DRAINS:  In Feng Shui, when a mirror reflects anything you are doubling and intensifying the Energy.  You absolutely do not want to DOUBLE the drain energy in your space!  Mirror, Mirror----WAIT! Don't Hang Me Yet!! by Feng Shui Long Island

Always check what your bathroom mirror is reflecting:  We ALL have mirrors in bathrooms and we need them.  What I've seen most often is that the standard mirror over the sink often reflects a BLANK WALL.  Now you are doubling the energy of.....Nothing.  Bring COLOR into the bathroom, both to enliven the space and to add the elements.  You'll be surprised what some simple and inexpensive changes can occur in your life from a Feng Shui perspective.

  

**Here's one You DON'T want to SEE (but will, anyway): 

It happens more often then not and until builders become in tune with Feng Shui, you'll come across it.  If YOU happen to have  it,  Don't Panic!  Feng Shui was NOT meant to scare you, just to enlighten you.  .  I recently came across this in a Feng Shui Consultation on Long Island, in Levittown.   A lovely small apartment whose first view was of the bathroom.  The window is also there, where in a Feng Shui Consultant's Eyes means that all that wonderful, new energy you are receiving through your Front Door (also called the Mouth of Chi) is going right back OUT again.

Thank goodness for Western methods!  I recommended that she absolutely should keep the door closed (no pets here) and use two crystals which can diffuse energy.  One in the window in the bathroom and one in the hallway (usually recommended anyway because hallways contain many doors-which in Feng Shui represent VOICES).

Feeding The Hungry Ghosts from a New York Feng Shui Perspective--by Carole Provenzale, Feng Shui Long Island New Yorl

As a Feng Shui Consultant, I work most often in New York City and Long Island.  Years ago, here, we heard the occasional story of a "haunted house."  Most people assumed there was something wrong with the owners who were imagining things.

Until the story of The Amityville Horror House on Long Island.  People came from all over to pass the house of the famous DeFeo murder scene with these poor people shot in their beds at night.  Many did believe that house on Ocean Avenue in Amityville on Long Island New York WAS "haunted" because of the horrible ways these people met their deaths.

In my old days of parapsychology instruction at a local college, we were taught that there are certainly ‘spirits' around us, though they are not here to harm us.  Some, who, like the DeFeos have met violent deaths (we were taught), do not know they have passed.  Oftentimes the sheer grief of others keeps the departed souls nearby because we cannot bear to let them go.  It's a struggle.  And sometimes people simply stay ‘behind' because here is where they are comfortable....they just don't want to leave.

We were taught to actually tell a loved one that they have passed and further, to give them the peace they need to move on.  Not something that is taught in your basic schools these days, although, to me, it made sense.  As a Manhattan Feng Shui Consultant  I have been called to many of these homes and have seen and experienced some of the things the homeowner does.  Lights flickering, strange noises-many of my clients often see something although they cannot quite make out what it is.  In only a few cases did my Feng Shui clients feel threatened.  They All, however, wanted whatever and whoever was around to be GONE.

I often speak of Predecessor Energy. Let's Talk About Predecessor Energy: A Feng Shui Post from Feng Shui Long Island  People do not have to necessarily have to die in a home, there can be bad feelings or negative energy left from previous occupants.  It's important to us to rid the home or business of this energy for several reasons:  The new occupants need to infuse THEIR energy into a new space and remove any negative energy.

The Chinese and many other cultures have a slightly different perspective and it is called "Feeding the Hungry Ghosts." This is how we were taught in Feng Shui. They believe that spirits stay around because they feel they need something they may feel they are lacking:  food, money or anything else in a physical form they feel they may need. 

No matter what the reason for these spirits, Space Clearings and Blessings release negative and predecessor energy  (from a Western perspective we were also taught non-denominational blessings so it wouldn't interfere with our client's religion) or a Black Sect version of Blessings that are a little more involved.  Feng Shui Consultants cleanse the interior and the exterior of a home or business, not only when it is new but after a life changing event such as a divorce.  In very simple terms, it's "Clearing the Air" a phrase we often used though not in this manner.

 In distance Feng Shui Consultations, clients are provided with everything they need to do this on their own.  It is an important part of a Feng Shui consultation as it also seals our Intentions for everything we want to manifest.

Something to keep in mind whether you're moving into a new home or business and want to start off in the best possible way or when you feel stuck and don't know why.  Things beyond what we can see can hold us back---Energy is all around us.

As a New York Feng Shui Consultant, I make suggestions all the time regarding peoples' private and personal spaces, their homes.  I have learned to carefully phrase things so they don't come out sounding harsh or critical in any way.  The power of the words we all speak is so strong and it stays with people for a very long time.  You are remembered by your words and actions and I am careful to leave a good memory.

I had stopped in my local 7-11 in Wantagh Long Island the other evening for a cup of coffee on my way to my temporary home.  I know sometimes the person behind the counter can be quite abrasive in the way she speaks as she made a critical remark to me one night.  After my hospitalization, I had stopped in for coffee and had lost some weight during my stay. She looked at me and said in a voice that carried through the store "What are you, SICK or something."  I didn't feel she deserved an explanation and I left.

A woman was next to me the other night making herself a cup of coffee at the same time and we laughed about our mutual late night "coffee stops."  She got on line to pay in front of me and decided to grab a donut as well.  The clerk asked her if she was sure she wanted it and the woman in front of me just looked puzzled.  "Well, it's not like you NEED it"  the cashier said." 

People continually amaze me with the things they will say.  And I DO think she meant it, I don't believe it was just ignorance.  I saw the customers' face fall---when she had been smiling and I felt awful for her.  I plunked down $2 for my coffee and followed her outside to find her in tears.  I told her that woman apparently has her own issues and to not take anything she said personally.  But her day was ruined.

Driving home, I realized it takes a MINUTE to make someones' day....and less then a minute to BREAK someones' day.  And those minutes add up-to hours, days, weeks.  I hope I am in the former category of making someones' day with a kind remark, smile or something else so simply I probably don't even realize it.

At the end of the day, do you ever ask yourself if you made someones' day?  It takes a minute.

I used to ask the question of "Who is Reading Activerain."  That was a long time ago when a reporter from the New York Times called me about an interview from a COMMENT I had made to a post here on Activerain.  Now I ask the question "Who ISN'T reading Activerain?"

No matter whether my posts are to the public or members only, I get a large amount of emails related to my posts, oftentimes with specific questions about something Feng Shui related.  In dealing with my own home restoration project, it wasn't long ago that I put up a members only question for some help on Color Choices for my bedroom.  So many people responded and I thank them all for their help (and, btw, I had chosen a color called Pink Amoire by Benjamin Moore when my restoration artist decided to prime the bedroom with a pink HE had chosen.  It's much "pinker" and brighter then I would have chosen but I actually like it! 

My recent post about the Village of Farmingdale and the flooding I had sustained has turned up two people that took the time to email me who had also had damage done from the same issue Village of Farmingdale Long Island New York--A must read for a resident of Farmingdale New York  It will be nice to be backed at the next meeting.

What Does a Manhattan Feng Shui Consultant have to do with the Olympics? Authored by Carole Provenzale Feng Shui Long Island and New York

More then I would have expected, actually.  I watched as history was made the other day with Michael Phelps thrilling victory at the Olympics.  It was a thrilling moment for just about everyone watching, making the United States proud.  I am almost glued to the TV overnight watching these tremendous atletes compete from all over the World.

One of my Feng Shui Consultations right here in New York actually gave me a sneak peak into the Olympics through the manufacturing of the Swimsuits.  About a year ago I was called to do a Corporate Feng Shui Consultation of a swimsuit company right here in Suffolk County in Long Island New York that I previously hadn't known existed.  For years I have been called to do Feng Shui consultations for Corporations and this was one of the more intriguing ones that I had consulted on.

They weren't having the usual Feng Shui issues I might be called for.  Although they have hundreds of employees and cover all aspects of designing and creating swimsuits, they just wanted to know how to make their space better...for their employees who sometimes might feel the stress of such a large corporation.

**They have a large Chinese population in their hundreds of employees and allow the to honor their faiths and beliefs.

So how DOES this New York Feng Shui Consultant get tied into the Olympics?  They mentioned that they had created and designed many of the beautiful swimsuits for the Olympics in Beijing this year.  One of the commentators just mentioned that with the new world record, certainly the design of the swimsuits had something to do with their incredible "wins."  And I don't doubt it for a second.  We KNOW the Chinese believe very strongly in Feng Shui-so does this Suffolk County Corporation on Long Island.

**Plenty of Design Inspiration is provided for their Designers through books, colors, samples they make and many other methods.

I saw, firsthand, what went into the making of these suits.  Late into the night meetings going over and over everything from the TAGS inside to the exact designs and fitting.  Incorporating fabrics, redesigns and creations that had to pass many hands and inspections to be special enough for the Olympics.

 

 

 

Materials of all kinds are imported from all over the world.  The samples that are not used are usually donated by this wonderful company.

It was an amazing Feng Shui Consultation for myself and the lovely people that were the heads of the Corporation, most of whom made themselves available for that day. This HUGE area took about 5 hours or more but I was thrilled to hear later that they have had many HUGE successes since the Feng Shui Consultation.  Feng Shui is not just for Homes, Apartments or Offices, it is also for large Corporations.

As a Feng Shui New York based Consultant, I get calls and emails all the time for questions people aren't sure about when making changes for Feng Shui in their own homes.  It is sometimes difficult to get through all the emails though I try but last week I received TWO about the same thing for people ready to paint and found they both had misconceptions about Feng Shui and Color.  One potential client called from Oyster Bay Long Island to get my opinion just before running out to choose paint colors, afraid they would make a mistake.

As some of you may know, I've had my own issues with choosing so many paint choices.  I want light and love color and years ago, in Feng Shui, there were some hard and fast rules about color choices.  Some colors, it was said, were destined to ruin an area of your life if used incorrectly...only certain colors would support these areas.  Which left some clients in a bit of a daze....how do they paint a room a certain color that they don't even LIKE?

Hopefully, those days and those misconceptions about Feng Shui and color choices are over.  Choosing colors that make you feel GOOD are the choices of color these days---and not to be afraid of USING color.  One particular client had studied the Bagua in detail before she called.  If you are familiar with the Bagua, there is a color shoice associated with each area of the Bagua.  The color PURPLE belongs in your Wealth area, Pink in your relationship area, Red in the back center of your home or business which represents your FAME.  Looking at the Bagua as an overlay of a space, you can see the different colors in each area of your life.

What most blogs or articles neglect to mention is that these are purely ACCENT COLORS to help increase a "cure."  So if we want to address Wealth, for example, always our Back Left Hand Corner when standing in front of the house facing IN....we want to add something that represents Wealth (think of a plant-it grows, is the color of money and adds "Life Force" or "Chi" wherever it is put.  A purple vase, ribbon or something in that color nearby strengthens our intention in placing the plant there to bring in MORE wealth....it adds to the "mindful placement of objects" we are making and is only an accent color.  It does NOT mean to paint this room purple : )

Feng Shui is sometimes know as "The Mindful Art of Placement" meaning we put our Intentions into a change and adding a color there as well that is connected with that area strengthens the change or CURE.  Whether you're a realtor selling a home or a home stager who wants a home to sell or you want to address your OWN home or business to increase it's support of you in all the areas of your life, look to the colors as well as the placement of furniture. 

Using a small accent of that color in each area is a simple Feng Shui "fix" that you can use.  Here's the Bagua which shows the ACCENT colors:

New York City ALWAYS amazes me!  Manhattan has it's own special charm and appeal and you can meet some pretty wonderful people.  I certainly of met my share but I'm not sure if I've met any as wise as this New York City cab driver,  What a New York Consultant can learn about Life.  Wise Words for all to read.  Thank goodness for our special Manhattan cab drivers : )

I came across this message sent to me in an email.  Rarely if ever does anything strike me as being so true and I LOVED this inspirational story.  I went to look for it on the Internet and soon I found it.  I have always believed I learn as much (if not more) from others as they learn from me and apparently many others do as well.

I believe in Energy.  People often ask me for blessings for their home and themselves and of course I give them....as a matter of fact, I often sign my emails with the word "Blessings."

No matter what your religion is or who you're praying to, prayers are also intensified.  Just as I believe that working with someone who truly has YOUR best interests at heart when combined with your Intentions doubles the energy and makes anything more effective, so does the combination of a multitude of prayers.
