A New York Feng Shui Consultant--And some FAME

A New York Feng Shui Consultant-And Some FAME

A huge principle in Feng Shui is simply "Get your NAME out to the Universe."  Something we do all the time now on websites, blogs, and the business cards and market materials we give out.

We also address the area of FAME which is also our REPUTATION at home and our offices.  We can do it with the INTENTION of getting our name "out there" and it's an important area to address.

The area of Fame means:  How you are known to the world and how you would LIKE to be KNOWN.   The color that ignites Fame is the element of FIRE, RED.  If we're doing a retail space it would be a good place to put our licenses there but also think about how you would LIKE to be known.  As a wonderful father, mother, wife are also ways many of us are known.

The Black Sect form of Feng Shui teaches us that Feng Shui is this:  80% INTENTION and only 20% of the actual physical changes we make.  Sounds rather like The Secret, doesn't it?  And what many of us have come to believe, THE LAW OF ATTRACTION.

Energy is more powerful then most people believe.  They chalk it up to co-incidence.  I do not believe in coincidences or accidents...things happen for a reason.  In the past week I have emailed three former clients that I haven't heard from in a while-just on my mind and "checking in."

Every SINGLE one of them wrote back that they were either about to call or email ME, that I had been on THEIR mind as well.  No, I don't believe in coincidences.

How do we address Fame and where is it?  Stand in the front of your home, office or business....it is located in the back center of your home.  Your NAME should go in this area surrounded by RED---you could choose a red frame or border.  Just putting your name up won't do much-unless you put your thoughts and Energy up that you REALLY want to get your name OUT THERE.

What I LOVE about MY Profession: Feng Shui

What I LOVE about being a Feng Shui Consultant in New York

I was tagged not long ago by the lovely Julie Neerings Julie Neerings~Lifting Hearts ♥ Building Dreams~Utah REALTOR®   to write about what I LOVE about my profession.  From Home Staging to Home Inspection to Real Estate Agents to Feng Shui Consultants I believe we ALL have a love (and in my case a bit of a fascination) with HOMES-and care very much about the PEOPLE who live in them.

Having realized through working in Wholistic Health that not only the Energy of your BODY but the Energy of your surroundings can have a huge impact on your life, it all made sense to me.  From the very first time I heard of Feng Shui I knew it was something I HAD to learn.

What makes my profession so special to me?

  • There are the CLIENTS first and foremost.  Some who are just beginning their journey into looking at life in a different way to those with a little bit of knowledge and curiosity to those with a strong interest and belief in Feng Shui.  We are All on the same page, we all want the best results and we connect in a very special way.

  • Getting personal in Feng Shui is important-to do our BEST job as Feng Shui Consultants we need to ask some personal questions about health, relationships, finances and more. We can also share back which allows our clients to know they are not alone in their experiences.  It creates a long lasting bond and becomes a real friendship-ones that we both treasure.

 Friendship Feng Shui Long Island

  • Helping People and seeing lives change before your eyes is the most gratifying part of all.  You have made a difference in their lives; they never forget it and neither do you from the lovely calls and emails.

Flowers Feng Shui Long Island & New York

  • You are always learning.  As I moved in life from job to job I realized that once I learned it I would become bored.  I loved and thrived on the challenges of learning something new but then the interest faded.  In Feng Shui you can never stop learning-It is an intense subject and no matter how hard you try, you will never, EVER get to it all-or get bored in THIS profession!

  • I work most weekend but I don't mind a bit; I work then because it's when my client's are HOME or can go into the office and not be disturbed.  It allows me flexibility to do something after if I choose as I NEVER take two consultations in one day.  Some clients need more time then others and I never want to feel rushed-or worse, make THEM feel rushed.

These are just a FEW of the things I love about my profession....but it's mostly the PEOPLE. We have combined our Energy.  We CARE.

Feng Shui New York--The BEDROOM

Feng Shui in New York- BEDROOMS and Interior Design

As a Feng Shui practitioner in Manhattan and Long Island, I love seeing the different spaces in both apartments and homes.  It's interesting that many of the Principles of Feng Shui do NOT go along with the principles of Interior Design and it's also interesting to me that more Interior Designers, Decorators and Home Stagers are more interested In Feng Shui then ever before. The differences we share are often in BEDROOMS.

This room in Smithtown  Long Island in New York was in a spacious, three bedroom home.  It was furnished by an Interior Design student who was looking for love (among some other issues).  In Interior design you are taught to think in ODD numbers---threes or fives for example.

In Feng Shui, particularly in the bedroom and partnership areas, we are thought to think in TWOS.  Two people, two statues, two candles as twos signify a partnership and three, well, is a crowd!  We don't want to bring a third person into our relationship.

Bedroom Feng Shui by Feng Shui Long Island & New YorkA Lovely Bedroom--Without Feng Shui Principles

We also think in the color PINK for romance.  While this doesn't mean you have to paint your entire room pink, throw pillows, candles and flowers can be added to almost any color scheme to represent pink.

We also need to allow someone to come into our life by creating room for new energy-and a new person.  Having one side of a bed up against the wall goes against Feng Shui principles for this very reason...there is no ROOM for a new person.  In Feng Shui and Bedrooms in particular, we need BALANCE, something this room is lacking. Cleaning out one drawer and part of your closet (it likely needs it anyway) is also a good decision.

As a Feng Shui Consultant, we also want to see our clients "backed-up" in life....and in their bedrooms and offices.  A solid headboard (wood is best so it doesn't pick up any EMF's) is recommended.  And choose your artwork carefully.

Back to our bedroom in Feng Shui.  This is a lovely room but NOT a room that employs Feng Shui principles.  It's not uncommon for me to see a light go off in one of my client's when they have been taught SO differently but are able to understand WHY Feng Shui Consultants view things the way they do---and they're off to make some changes!

*If you've read this long, one more piece of advice.  We are looking for a PARTNER, not a power play situation...keeps your "twos" in the SAME SIZE : )

Feng Shui in New York

Feng Shui in New York--With a Side of Inspiration.

What an exciting journey life can be!  We were taught so many things growing up, to be polite, to respect others, to go to school and get good grades.  We weren't taught some very important things, probably because they are only learned through the school of "hard knocks."  I must have been absent that day but life lessons and challenges presented themselves and through the years I've learned how to (hopefully) best deal with this wonderful life gift we have been given.

Try some Feng Shui Inspiration on "those" days:

WITH THE FLOW GO:       Things are not going to always go in the way we would like.  Actually quite often they will go in the opposite direction from what we expected the outcome to be.  It's not what presents itself to us that matters as much as it is how we deal with it.  Recognize it as a learning lesson, a challenge but also as a new opportunity to grow.  By coming across different people, circumstances and challenges, we always learn a new (and hopefully) better way to deal with them.  When they come up again, we are old hands at it if we've learned from prior experiences!  When opposition presents, instead of fighting back so hard, sit back for a moment and see how to go with the flow of the life lessons that are being created.

SET CLEAR INTENTIONS:        Like attracts like, there is no getting around it.  We are beings of Energy, we are surrounded by Energy and we need to focus on what we desire to create in our lives.  It is essential to keep a positive attitude and just BE, knowing that the Universe has everything we need and want as long as we are sending the correct Intentions forth.  This is an especially difficult principle to relay to people that have become depressed by circumstances.  Changing your way of thinking from the negative to the positive has done amazing things that are documented:  cured cancer, brought wealth beyond someone's wildest dreams, attracted wonderful people into their lives to love and support them.  Stay in the positive and you will get back the best possible outcomes.

LEARN TO LET GO:       Difficult as it can be, reassess your life and the people in it.  Are they positive, like minded and do they support you when you need it most?  Do they truly care about you or are they around you for another reason?  I realized at one point that sadly enough, some of the people I called "friends" weren't there for me, for the joyful occasions or the sad.  And although some of them had been around for years, I needed to let go to be free to attract new people into my life that would truly care about me, support me and just BE there for me.  Family members were a bit more difficult and I just cut down some of my time with them.  Letting go of the old, and the known, is a difficult process but until we learn to let go we won't have room in our lives for the wonderful new people to come into it.

COUNT ON YOURSELF:   You are stronger then you ever imagined.  Learn to count on yourself and not rely on someone else for your needs, wants and successes.  You create your own life, not someone else and you are armed with everything you need to create all the desires in your heart.  Co-dependant became a big word years ago and unfortunately still applies today.  Learn to take charge of your own life and watch what you will create!

ALLOW THE MESSAGES: Some people complain they never get messages, yet they are sent to us all the time.  From loved ones who have passed, from our Spirit Guides, from our Sixth Sense, from the Universe itself.  Trust yourself to take the time to SEE them; they are important as they are what guide us through life.  Often in these stressful times, we don't even take the time to listen to our inner feelings---and kick ourselves later on, saying "I know I should (shouldn't) have done that! We are working with Energy, learn to see, trust and believe in it and the messages will come to you.  It's the basis of Inspiration.

Solitude -- Feng Shui Long Island & Manhattan

COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS:        I may sound like a broken record on this one, but it bears repeating (again and again sometimes).  When you focus only on the negative, you are going to get back more of the same.  Everyone has blessings, examine them, count them and as you keep those in mind, more will come.  Counted Blessings add up to more blessings coming your way and soon you will have more then you ever imagined.

FIND THE SILVER LINING:        Every cloud has one.  It's our job to find it and many times not an easy task.  But it is there if we look.  That silver lining is our window of opportunity to change the situation around and if we miss it, we have missed a chance to change and grow.  A love has left you and you're devastated?  It also gives you more time to focus on YOU, things perhaps you didn't have time to do that you can now get involved with, an opportunity to meet and surround yourself with new people, places, things and ideas.  Find that silver lining and USE it.

Clouds Feng Shui Long Island & New York City

A NEW WAY TO LOOK AT THINGS:       Oftentimes when we are "stuck" or just plain sad, we see things in only black and white.  We are unable to see the options open to us, to look at the world and our lives in a different way.  Open yourself up to learn something new, read a book full of inspirational stories, be open to things that you once looked at as "odd" or "different" as an opportunity to learn new things about yourself, your life and the way you are living it.  For years Feng Shui was a "fad" until people discovered that it actually works.  If you rely heavily on your doctors, for example, look into wholistic health alternatives as well.  Read subjects you wouldn't usually choose and make them inspiring---they will inspire you as well.

FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS:     Don't allow anyone to stop or deter you from your dreams.  Your life was not created to look back and wonder what would have happened if you had found your passion and not created it.  Negative people will sometimes give us the wrong information and try to deter us from achieving what we really want.  These are their own doubts and fears coming out and being projected onto you.  Don't allow it.  You will never have to wonder what would have happened if you had only tried.

KEEP AN OPEN HEART:  You meet everyone in life for a reason.  Open your heart to them; they were given to you as a gift or a learning tool.  Don't be too busy to pursue a new friendship, don't just tell yourself the timing is wrong for a relationship, first step back a moment and see what these people are bringing to you and why you have attracted them.  It is oftentimes for a wonderful reason, to meet a new and like minded person you have much in common with, a possible business partner or a new romance.  Sometimes it is for challenges we must face.  Just know they have come to you for a reason and keep your heart open to all who enter your own special space in the world.

Remember, it is often the challenges in life we must learn that teach us the most. Without them, we would likely be stuck somewhere; they are what force us to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and move on.

These are trying times but we WILL get through them.  Use a little Feng Shui Inspiration from a New York Feng Shui Consultant.

A New York Feng Shui Consultant AND a Roving Reporter!

A New York Feng Shui Consultant AND a Roving Reporter

Feng Shui in ManhattanFeng Shui on Long Island.  THIS is what I do and have been doing for well over a decade.  But lately I have noticed something else...I HAVE BEEN TURNING IN TO THE ROVING REPORTER!

It's not MY fault.....Blame it on Activerain!!  Having signed on so long ago after being on other blog sites, I discovered AR.  I was on EBlogger, Ezines, Selfgrowth and many other online publications.  And as a Feng Shui Consultant I was ONLY writing about Feng Shui.

Activerain changed all that.  I believe it was one of the very first posts I read that advised me to ALWAYS CARRY MY CAMERA.  I didn't have a good one at the time but a trip to B & H in Manhattan changed all that.  I came out with a lot of help, a great price and a wonderful camera (which can do anything but I leave it on "P"  --  Point and Shoot : )

I've noticed, over time, that had I NOT read that useful piece of advice, I would have missed some very unusual shots.  So much so that lately I feel I've become the ROVING REPORTER-First on the scene.

A New York Feng Shui Consultant---OR a Reporter?  I've become a bit of both!  Now all I need is a Press Pass...

Manhattan's Central Park--And a Question

Central Park AGAIN?  Well, yes and no.  I was in Central Park in Manhattan not long ago when they were celebrating their 150th anniversary!  A beautiful day (and a post to follow) but there is just ONE shot I wanted to show you:

Central Park Manhattan by Feng Shui Long Island & New Yokr==rk

I loved the huge balloon and many other things scattered throughout the Park to commemorate this occasion.  And was struck by this fountain as well....I later found out it is the oldest fountain in Central Park.  I thought it was beautiful and that I must have passed it before---It looks so familiar.

There are so MANY fountains in Central Park but this one was nagging at me.  Feng Shui Consultants LOVE fountains and use them and recommend them to our clients for certain ‘cures' and reasons.  They even make tiny desktop fountains now that run on batteries they have become so popular.

But there was something about THIS one.  Only later did I find out why.  Even if you've never been to lovely New York City, you may recognize this fount

I wanted to see how many people might recognize it....NO CHEATING : )  So try not to read the comments and just have a bit of FUN.

Feng Shui Question of the Week!

Feng Shui Question of the Week by Feng Shui Long Island & New York (Manhattan)

Whether it is my increased online presence due to Activerain or a heightened interest in Feng Shui (or a combination of BOTH!), I can't say.  I CAN tell you that I receive many emails each week asking questions about Feng Shui.

I have always made it a practice to try and respond to each and every person who took the time to write but have been finding it a bit overwhelming lately.  I thought of our own Katerina Gasset here on Activerain and a post that SHE began because she also was overwhelmed with questions.

Never one to steal an idea, I emailed my lovely friend to ask her if I would be able to post a "Feng  Shui Question of the Week."  Without hesitation I received a lovely email back from her saying of course, it was fine with her.  Thank you, Katerina!  Nestor & Katerina Gasset Realtors® Wellington Florida Luxury Homes

People ARE reading Activerain from ALL OVER.  And while they may not join and post comments, we ARE being read.  I am hoping that by doing this it will not only help the person that asked but others who may have the same question.

You are ALL welcome to submit questions to my email at FengShuiLI@aol.com   I will still do my best to answer other questions as well but will chose one each week-and post it.....WITHOUT identifying anyone.

The San Gennaro Feast--Manhattan's Finest

New York City-Manhattan---A Feng Shui Consultant's Day....

The San Gennaro Feast in Manhattan is something I NEVER miss.  I know some people LOVE New York City....and others are not so fond of it!  The San Gennaro Feast runs every year and is the oldest, largest and best known Italian Feast.  St. San Gennaro is the patron Saint of Naples and people come from all over the world each year to attend this festival.  Feast of San Gennaro

1.5 million attended this year.  Laura Cerrano and I accounted for two of those : )  If you can't stand crowds, noise or unpredictable weather, this is not something you would enjoy.  In fact I was dismayed to hear from one of my AR friends that last years post-when not a DROP of rain was predicted but we had a heavy and unrelenting downpour is the way I will be remembered....OUCH!

That post was SUPPOSED to show Determination and Creativity from Feng Shui Consultants in New York who have learned to "Go With the Flow."  I guess not. You need Persistance AND Creativity in New York City But if you love fairs, you'll adore this one!  This year we have a balmy 89 degrees and it STILL did not stop the crowds.

Here are some shots of a special day in Manhattan at their famous San Gennaro Feast--Seen through Feng Shui Eyes!
