Tomorrow is Another Day.....Feng Shui in Oyster Bay

This house belongs to some of the best clients I have EVER consulted for---and that's saying a lot!  They live in the beautiful town of Oyster Bay on Long Island, New Yorkand were in need of repairs, Feng Shui and Organizing.  You couldn't ask to meet more wonderful, warmhearted people and despite their state of disrepair in their home, they never stop and complain or let it get them down.  That's pretty hard to do when you're living in a state like this, but that's the way they are.  They truly LIVE The Secret every day and know things will get better.  Although it's been a long haul for them, they are getting there.

The damage was caused by Termites that went undetected for a very long time.  Long enough that I don't believe there was any part of their home that hadn't been affected.  They have conquered the problem and finally are rebuilding.  If you own a home, this can happen to you---and me.  But I can say THEY have taught ME more lessons then I could have taught them.  After all, tomorrow is another day....to rebuild.

Feng Shui Long Island, New YorkTheir office space had to be condensed, however it was still too cluttered and unorganized.  Today there are pictures on the walls that are inspiring and it has been completely organized.  They can find everything in a heartbeat!

Feng Shui Long Island, New YorkExposed beams are known in Feng Shui as "Cutting Chi" or "Cutting Sha" meaning that it cuts right into your energy.  They were originally sleeping in a room like this but I had them move to the living room until their bedrooms were repaired and redone.

Feng Shui Long Island ConsultantFor now they are more comfortably (and safely) sleeping in the living room (and sleeping better!).

Feng Shui New York CityHaving the walls down and being in this state does not prevent them from cooking wonderful meals.

They are to be congratulated.  For the rebuilding (with some Feng Shui Tips and Advice) but just as much for their attitude through this crisis.  And during this, they have experienced some very fortunate occurrences.  I have learned a lot from this lovely family who allowed me into their lives and keep a positive, happy attitude during a very trying time

A Promise That Should NEVER have been made......

Long ago during my Feng Shui Classes and through all the years after, I have NEVER promised a client we can create exactly what they want to come about from a Feng Shui Consultation.  We CAN promise to change the Energy but nothing more.  Clients without a thorough understanding of what Feng Shui entails should investigate more prior to booking a consultation and I always recommend they look for someone who is Certified (many people aren't aware anyone can read a book on Feng Shui and call themselves a Feng Shui Consultant).  I have also seen lately that people "stretch" the number of years they have been practicing....

Unfair.  To the clients and this is NOT ethical behavior.  Unfortunately, clients do not think to check the information and sometimes book a consultation when they are coming from a place of desperation, the worst time to get the BEST results.  I am NOT saying it won't help, it very well may, but promises should NEVER be made.  If you ever decide to get a consultation and are promised the results you want, RUN, don't walk.  It's just not possible.

Today was disturbing for me as I received three calls from the same potential client.  I spent quite a bit of time talking to her and could clearly see this woman was desperate for a "quick fix" to a distressing situation she was going through.  While I was explaining to her how I practiced, what I incorporate and that we never promise "cures" for problems, she said that's not what another consultant had told her.  According to this woman, she had been promised that things would change for her and what she wanted to happen would if she booked a consultation.  I was very upset to hear this.

People don't always book under the best of circumstances, in fact quite often that is exactly why they will call and they should.  But coming from a desperate place and looking for an overnight miracle is not likely to happen.  I don't know who she spoke to and I don't want to.  I DO know that for the most part, Feng Shui Consultants that are Certified have achieved a level of learning in much more depth than anyone can learn from a book and they truly do want to help their clients but this is, unfortunately, not the first time I have heard some outrageous claims.  Promising a particular outcome to a client is wrong by any standards.

It saddens me that to many, Feng Shui has become a BUSINESS, plain and simple.  And it's become, for a few, all about the money.  They don't take follow ups from clients or only a limited amount is permitted for follow ups.  Which means if your terrific client gets that wonderful new job just a little late, the consultant will never hear about it.  Because their "follow-up" time has run out.....I hope my clients keep in contact with me for years to come and call me with further questions no matter how much time has elapsed.  I want to hear EVERYTHING and more often then not, it's some WONDERFUL news.  I can't help but wonder if much of what Feng Shui started out to be is lost....

The woman?  She called back the consultant who PROMISED HER THE RESULTS SHE WANTS.  I sure hope she gets them, but somehow I doubt she will.  And more damage will be done.  Book carefully, check schools and don't be afraid to grill someone you are inviting into your home or business AND your personal life.

And Now for Something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.....

Well, it's not that different but it's not Feng Shui. Well, not exactly. But it IS about your ENERGY.  I have mentioned in previous posts that I use an Energy Healer and wondered if any of you use alternative types of medicine?  Yes, I do see doctors when I have to, of course, but my experience in the field of alternative methods of healing have helped so many people including curing "incurable" cases of cancer and run the gamut through all types of healing for almost anything you may have that is causing dis-ease.

Some of the methods I am familiar with do not work for everyone, but these are some of the alternative methods of treatment I have seen work and why I believe they do.  A case in point relates once again to what you will find in The Secret.  Before a practitioner would work with a patient, they would need to help change their thinking.  Many people came into the center as a "desperate" measure, they had been told, simply, that there was nothing that could be done for them from a physician's standpoint or they came in because the treatments were so invasive and harmful themselves they could no longer bear them.

They were heartbroken and defeated.  In the Wholistic Center that I worked in (We used the "W" to show we were speaking of a "whole" person), they incorporated the Mind AND Body, something that wasn't spoken much of or used years ago.  Long before we had Deeprok Chopra and Dr. Dyer speak on these things.  Patients were seeking hope and assurance and these practitioners loving gave it to them, to advise them about their own personal energy and their ability to help heal themselves along with their help.

I have seen Acupuncture used, Traditional Chinese Medicine (where they could accurately diagnos your illness by looking at your tounge), biofeedback, homeopathic remedies and a form of massage that was very powerful called "Amma Therapy."  There are also Medical "Intuitives" who can pick up your energy and "see" what's wrong with you and what form(s) of treatment might best help you.  Had I not seen these patients, I wouldn't have believed not only the change in attitude but their change in HEALTH.  They became well, whole and vibrant human beings again who regained their ability to laugh, play and have fun while at the same time, HEAL.  They KNEW, they could feel it on some level.  And their doctors were astounded when they went back and got "normal" readings or they were "cured" or on their way to getting there.  Yet they still didn't, and don't for the most part, believe in wholistic care.

More then likely, if you think back to when you became ill or just before it, you will see that for one reason or another, things were not going well in your life and you were unhappy.  Or you were running at such a fast pace and didn't take the time to slow down, depsite "warning signals" that we manage to ignore and illness arrives.  IF YOU DON'T TAKE THE TIME TO SLOW DOWN WHEN YOU KNOW YOU SHOULD, SOMETHING WILL COME ALONG AND KNOCK YOU OFF YOUR FEET--making you slow down.

There are other types and methods of Energy Healing which I have not mentioned here, including what I used which helped me gain insight into WHY I became ill which is very empowering.  When you realize WHY you have called this into your life, you can turn things around and change them with the help of some very gifted people.  I will explore that more in another post.

With the exception of a very few who allow only  certain, short term methods of alternative treatments to be used, for the post part if you are in need of some "special healing" you are left on your own to pay for it.  And it might just be the best money you ever spent....without good health, there is nothing else.  Your OWN energy, your own CHI is the most important factor in determining your health.  Had I not seen the pure power of energy, the law of attraction, intention and a different way of thinking I would have not realized how profoundly we are affected by our surroundings as well.

If you are in pain, have a chronic illness or something the doctors can't seem to find despite their probing and tests or if you are told there is "nothing that can be done for you"  I urge you to explore some alternative methods of treatment.  And if you have experienced or used some wholistic ways to heal, I would love to hear about it.  But Never, EVER give up or accept a diagnosis that you cannot become well again.  There are many "miracles" out there and one of them just might have YOUR name on it!

Earth Angels---How Many have YOU run across??

How many "Earth Angels"  have you come across?  You know, those wonderful people that seem to come out of nowhere when you're lost, stuck or just need some help.  They are disguised as all kinds of "people" but I never end up thinking of them that way when all is said and done; to me they are Earth Angels who will be remembered by you long after they've forgotten all about what they did for you.

I wanted to share a little more of my trip and to tell you about one particular Earth Angel that I came across; this one was posing as a French man who ran a train station.  But I have to back up so you can see how we got to him:

It was our second day in Paris and I had scheduled a tour.  Not a "normal" tour, I had wanted a personalized tour where I could choose what I wanted to see or just go with his recommendations.  I had typed in Google before I left "Personalized Paris Tours" and there he was, a man named Anthony who seemed to be exactly what I was looking for.  His website said he took you by foot and on the Metro and either he or you or both could set the day.  Bingo!  A few emails later and he was confirmed.  I had no idea how old he was and I assumed he was from France but I couldn't think of a better way to get "introduced" to a city then by someone that lives there.

Anthony arrived at our hotel at exactly 9am and after about 5 minutes was like a long lost cousin.  He was a man from Phoenix who had worked in Paris for a short time and loved it; his company offered him a transfer and he grabbed the opportunity.  After three years he was now a citizen there and very, very happy living there.  He toured the city so many times he eventually quit his job and focused on giving tours---of which I don't think he will ever tire of.  He meets some wonderful clients and can't get enough of that lovely city. Truly someone that was living a life they loved.

After having visited the Louvre and Museum D'Orsay the day before I knew exactly where I wanted to go....not a usual request and there are only a few tours there on the weekends but I have always been fascinated by Van Gogh, his life and his incredible artwork.  I've read many books and many theories about him and I wanted to go to the place that he lived at the end of his life, a province of Paris called Auvers-Sur-Oise, where he had done many paintings and spent his last years.  This was an unusual request for Anthony and he himself had never been there.

Going to the Metro we found it was quite far, three changes on the Metro and two trains.  He asked if I were sure because he could show us so much but I had my heart set on it.  So off we went, talking all the while and learning about anything we wanted to know about what else to see, about French life, things we never would have known.  After finally arriving a few hours later at the first train stop and now well out of Paris, we were in a small Province and the train station looked deserted.  There were no cars, no people and Anthony went to ask the one person working there when the next train would be along.

When he came back he looked dismayed; because we were in such a small town and it wasn't a weekend there wouldn't be another train until 6pm, long after Van Gogh's old home and the church would be closed.  We discussed our options but there didn't seem to be many when I asked if we could get a taxi.  We were SO close!  Anthony was discussing it with this gentleman at the train station and finally relayed to us that a taxi would not come; they would have to make a special trip and would not be willing to do that.  We could catch a train and take the Metro back to Paris, he said.

Our "Earth Angel" looked at my crestfallen face and started making calls.  One after another and I asked Anthony what he was doing; he was calling cab companies trying to find someone who would accommodate us.  And not having much luck.  HE CALLED EIGHT PLACES AND FINALLY FOUND A DRIVER WOULD WOULD BE WILLING TO COME AND GET US AND TAKE US THERE.  And this wonderful man was as happy and excited as I was!  I wondered later how many people would have done that for total strangers but oddly enough I can think of more then a few times people have gone above and beyond to help you and I have tried to do the same for others.

A cab came a little while later, we saw (and I was fascinated) where he last lived, the church he had painted, the cemetary where he is buried next to his beloved brother, Theo.  And a lovely little town that he was enchanted with.  On the way home we went to Monmarte (probably my favorite place, I went back on another day with it's artists, restaurants and pure Energy!) and our "day tour" with Anthony which began at 9AM ended at midnight; he even insisted on seeing us back to the hotel.  I could NOT have met more wonderful people and will keep in touch with Anthony who I would use again and recommend in a heartbeat. Anthony can be reached at anthony@atkielski.com  It was a magical day and night.  Here are a few shots:

Feng Shui Long IslandOh, btw, because the Louvre has had Feng Shui requested by the French Government, there is a widespread interest and belief in it in France.  They had requested it because although they kept adding to it, it kept falling into disrepair.  the Pyramid was created because if you stand in the middle of it and look up, you can see all the new parts that were added together; it INTENTIONALLY connected the new parts and architectural styles.  It has not had any problems since this was done.

Feng Shui Long IslandThe wonderful town of Monmarte; it is crowded no matter what time you go and full of Energy!

We met many wonderful people but none who worked as hard to help us; and in a sort of "Pay it Forward" I gave my card to a French person who is waiting for the day she can come to New York so I can show her around.  Have you had Earth Angels?  Or been one for someone?

Same Trip, Two Different Experiences: The SECRET is Alive and Well!

Expectations:  We all have them.  Sometimes they are a good thing, we have some wonderful outcome to look forward to but often we forget that our expectations of a circumstance may not be what we wanted; they may be something to teach us a lesson, outcomes change, things are different and some people are very intolerant of change (which, in my opinion, is one SURE thing you can count on).

My "Expectations" of my trip were to see some wonderful sights, meet some terrific people, experience things I would not have had an opportunity to.  I was looking forward to nothing but the BEST and that's probably exactly why I got it.

They say you never really know someone until you travel with them.  Take them out of their element and you can see a radical difference in how they react to different circumstances.  Such was the case with my travel companion, a strictly platonic friend I have known for years.  Unfortunately, his expectations were "problems and issues"  --  from everything ranging from our not speaking the language, "hearing" that French people don't like "us" ( a complete misconception as far as I'm concerned) to any possible problem that might come up---he anticipated them, almost waited for them and that is what he experienced during his visit.

I was open to speaking to people, to asking if they could speak English or trying to communicate in another way....signs, showing them a map when we were lost and they would often show a huge smile when they "got" what I was trying to ask them, pointing me in the right direction or even going out of their way to find someone who could communicate better.  And I would become very happy when I understood them!  In asking others, a simple question would often become a discussion which turned out to provide wonderful advise on what to see and do in their beautiful city.  I did not meet any resistance because I did not expect any.

My travel companion, on the other hand, often got frustrated and angry.  I noticed that people did not respond at all to him the way they responded to me and it was because of the energy he was giving off.  Someone who is not able to go with the flow and let a day unfold the way it is supposed to, even if it wasn't in your "plans"  is not emitting anything positive and that is strongly sensed. After the second day, I took over all issues completely when I saw that he was upset even ordering from a menu.

His experience of this lovely trip were indifferent people, trying to breeze through a few things to say he "saw" them, and getting frustrated over every issue that was "different" then at home which included just about everything:  the television stations, the money, total inability to deal with the airlines and expected delays and just generally found what he viewed as "unpleasant" aspects through the trip.  Mine was completely the opposite.  Being open and trying to communicate, I met the best people who went out of their way (some really out on a limb) to help and accommodate and exchange wonderful discussions which included everything from Feng Shui (they have a profound interest in this subject as well as a belief in it, having had it done for the Louvre of which they are extremely proud of) to what life, in general, is like in the US.  And I made a few lasting connections there which I will talk about in my next post.

Back to Expectations:  As in Feng Shui AND The Secret, your intentions and the laws of attraction come right back to you.  Expect the best out of life and that's likely what you'll get back.  And something I have had on my website since the day I had it created, most of all, GO WITH THE FLOW.  The Universe sometimes has it's own plans for you and they can be much better than anything you had in mind!

Are We Dreaming Dreams? Or are "Dreams" Just Reality Waiting to Happen??

All through the years I have referred to my "vision" of my DREAM vacation---Paris.  I myself am confused why I thought of it as such an impossibility that I referred to it as a dream.  A dream is just a thought and Paris to me was much more than that, it was a REALITY WAITING TO HAPPEN.  Anytime you put that much focus and energy into something you want, somehow it will materialize.

I just read and had heard Lizettes amazing post about her VISION of that car she wanted, her energy, passion and making room for it in her life and her actions to create it.  And of course it came into her life.  I need to watch my wording even more carefully, these are not just dreams of what I want, they are things that I am going to accomplish.

It's funny when you reach one accomplishment it is immediately replaced with another.  So my "future" section in Feng Shui will now to change to what I am going to achieve next.  And it will happen, perhaps not on MY timetable but when everything is in it's proper place for it to happen.  When you reach one goal, strive for the next, it is what keeps our energy and passion in life!

How would I possibly tell all about my "vacation" in Paris?  It isn't possible and for those of you that travel regularly it wouldn't mean much.  What I can tell you I discovered after a day or so with my carefully planned list of things I HAD to do and see while I was there I had a choice:  I could run around as I did the first day and "see" Paris or I could slow down and actually EXPERIENCE it.  There is quite a difference and I'm glad that although I missed some things, I truly got the experience of it all.  I had opportunities to meet some wonderful people including some Americans who were traveling frantically from country to country on almost no sleep to SEE it ALL.  That's not possible and it's not what I wanted, I wanted the experience of a whole different way of life which opened me up to meeting French people and communicating with them about the way THEY live, their misconceptions about New York (some are almost as facinated with New York as I was with Paris!) and they shared their interest in the way WE live.

They don't understand much of it and quite frankly, after seeing a whole different way of living, I have to agree with them.  They don't rush through anything, they EXPERIENCE everything.  A place, a meal, their work (which most seem to enjoy).  They truly take the time to use the time-worn phrase "Stop and smell the flowers."  And wonder why we don't.  They are refreshingly polite and pleasant to each other as they were to all the tourists.  Their food is a work of art and is NEVER taken away while they are still holding their forks.  Their coffee is savored, they stroll down the streets, they are not rushing through life and missing so many important and wonderful things along the way.

I have to wonder on my return why we are so frantic here?  Why are we multi tasking to the max?  If a hotel concierge is assisting you and the phone rings he will excuse himself, help the person on the phone and then return to helping you.  You will not be rushed if a line happens to accumulate and I was more then happy to receive that type of attention and wait my turn knowing I would be greeted and not rushed.  They have just in the last year opened their first Starbucks and it has already grown to five of them.  Prior to that there was no hurry, you sat in a cafe and savored your coffee taking all the time you liked.  They work hard but they enjoy their time off:  Five weeks vacation.  What if we dared to slow down and enjoy life a little more?  Took a day off, spent more time with family and friends we have been neglecting?  Would we lose our place "in line" or miss some golden opportunity?

I am re-evaluating things right now; maybe the golden opportunities are not the work we're missing, maybe it's the time that will become most important to us.  Time better spent in the long run enjoying what we have instead of always striving to get more to "come out on top"  in business.  I'm still in my vacation mode, I guess and doing exactly what I enjoy doing the last  few days--spending time with my family, reconnecting to the Activerain connections I treasure and enjoying every minute.

Something Really Simple that Can Save Your Pet's LIFE! Use these words....

Most of you, if you "know" me at all, know me as that Feng Shui Person on AR.  What you may not know is that I am a long time Pet Advocate and have done things such as volunteered at non-kill shelters here helping to tame some of the feral kittens and anything else that was needed.  I worked closedly with a good friend who wrote for a local paper and we covered all types of events on helping animals.

When I had gotten my new puppy last year, Skylar, I was teaching him the usual things.  Sit, lie down, roll over---cute but basically useless.  He unfortunately never learned manners which I am still working with but I noticed the dog was learning words---more then I recall most of my other dogs.  I think, now, that they were all capable of it but I wasn't aware of it.  Another good friend INSISTED I teach him his "body parts."  She claims that her cat would have not been alive if she had not done that years ago, and I believe she's right.

Her beautiful cat, Katerina, was in a horrific car accident.  When found, she was barely conscious and the vet did not know whether she would make it---and if she did, what condition she would be in.  He was certain she would be blind in one eye, other then that, everything was questionable.  My friend had a tormenting decision to make and she decided to try and save her cat.  Katerina was in the hospital for a long time, being fed through a tube which eventually went directly into her stomach.  She was uncomfortable and fought them all the time.

At some point my friend decided to take some time off work and take her cat home with her.  She had taught her cat ALL HER BODY PARTS.  Her cat knew the words Back, Tummy, Ear, Mouth, Nose, Eye and Tail.  She said shew would explain to Katerina what she was doing "I am putting dinner (which Katerina knew) into your Tummy."  Or "Your EYE will get better."  She absolutely believes her cat understood about 20% of what she was saying and coupled with her love for her and her calm, soothing voice, allowed my friend to accept the food and treat her eye without a "fight."

Though not as dramatic, I have heard other stories where people made it a point to teach their pets they names of certain parts of their bodies.  Skylar knows them all and even his Vet noticed.  "I'm just going to check his Tummy" and Sky will roll on his back.  Dogs and Cats and some other animals can have a tremendous vocabulary.  In an experiment not long ago on TV, they surrounded a dog with well over 100 toys of his.  They would ask the dog to get the "dog," "pig," or "bear" and this dog had a 100% success rate.

I am now trying to teach Sugar who is older....she loves getting her Ears and Tummy rubbed and has those down already!  While teaching your animals all the "cute" stuff, teach them about themselves as well.  I hope we never need it, but it just might save their life one day.

PostScript:  This was several years ago.  Katerina is now 11 and although blind in one eye, nothing has slowed her down!  She is a joy....

Full Circle on Feng Shui: A Wonderful, Featured Post that spurred a comment that created THIS Post...

While reading some of my favorite Activerainer's posts (and some "Newbies" as time allows,) I came across a wonderful post that was a well deserved Feature by Laurie Mindnich called Introducing "RELIGION AND REAL ESTATE"... NO THANKS

Laurie had many valid points on the post and the topic was discussed from many viewpoints, which I found very interesting.  I also came across a comment from someone who equated Feng SHUI with a RELIGION, which it is NOT. I thought that if someone has that misconception, then others might as well and thought I would like to clear it up.

We ALL have our own beliefs which I don't believe are the same as a RELIGION.  How many people believe The Secret is a religion?  Well, that's what many of the beliefs and principles of Feng Shui are founded on.  As I mentioned in an earlier post, it is first and foremost A LIFESTYLE.  As in The Secret, in my opinion you can visualize and "call" that new car or home into your life but if you're not living a mindful life, being respectful of others, doing your fair share to help out, treating people the right way, it's not going to materialize.  And really, why should it?  You can only get back exactly what you give out.

I see on Activerain the way many of you go above and beyond for your clients (which of course means you do that for everyone in your life).  That is one of the things that makes you special and unique and will help you ultimately achieve what you are looking for in this life.  I believe that for the longest time some of you thought Feng Shui was nothing more then furniture placement, colors and some "odd" little items we use like Lucky Cats or Money Frogs.  Feng Shui is Intention.  Feng Shui is respecting THE LAND and our environment.  Feng Shui is living a good life and being a good person.

Nothing profound is going to happen with any of the other principles if you don't realize that first.  It is NOT a Chinese religion, it is something the Japanese were doing as well; People of Indian decent call it Vastu or Vaastu Shastra.  Native Americans built INTO the land to respect it---they use sage.  Tis was and is used and practiced in Taiwan and Tibet---and many other places.  It is Five THOUSAND Years old and this belief system extends all over the world with some variations.

The Blessings used in Feng Shui are NON DENOMINATIONAL.  They do not go against any religion or lifestyle.  Feng Shui is simply meant to inspire and help you create what you want for your life.

*And as a personal note to the commenter:  I am not, nor have I ever been, trying to put my beliefs or opinions on anyone.  I don't judge anyone and don't expect anyone to judge me.  I post about it because I have used it, I have seen it work and I believe in it.  Which does NOT mean you have to---but before you're critical of anyone's beliefs, you should take a look into them first.  Do you want to know the BEST thing about Feng Shui?  It can't hurt you, it can only make you a better person!!

Is Anyone Else facinated with Old Airplanes? The Grumman Memorial, Calverton, Long Island, New York taken by Feng Shui Long Island

Perhaps because my father was a Navigator during World War 11 or maybe because for so many years, almost everyone that lived on Long Island worked at either Grumman's or Republic Airports, I am facinated by old air planes.  The incredible story of how they helped us win the war is a true tribute to all the Veterans who fought in the war.

In coming home from a Feng Shui Consultation in Calverton, Long Island, located in the Town of Riverhead, I saw a small sign "Grumman Memorial Park." I didn't know it existed.  It seems more then ever before I am running into things I have never seen before and didn't know existed.  This was apparently put together in the year 2000.  I thought there might be some history buffs out there who would enjoy it as much as I did---or anyone who remembers that Grummans was the staple of Long Island, back in the days of fair pay, good jobs, vacation and sick days and wonderful medical insurance.  Here are some shots of the amazing planes and the memorial they put together to honor their employees:

Can You STAND another Feng Shui Post? You've seen the Auspicious Goat, LQQK at The Auspicious PUMPKINS in Northport, Long Island, New York

If you've been following my posts, you've seen the Feng Shui Synchronicity occuring these days in Northport, Long Island, New York.  In one post I told about my clients appeared to have been frightened by the changes occuring after a Feng Shui Consultation.  In a subsequent post I told that I had received an email the following morning that the woman who had written the Book, The Auspicious Goat, had read my post and MET MY CLIENT FOR THE FIRST TIME THE VERY DAY I HAD BEEN THERE.

While I do not know the entire story of the Auspicious Goat, I do know it made the Guinness's book or World Records for the longest living Goat.  I have been emailing the lovely author of this book and she was kind enough to send me some pictures of her AUSPICIOUS PUMPKINGS.  She is hoping for them to make a record as well---and they appear to be well on their way!

She told me these pumpkins grow 35 to 40 POUNDS A DAY and I am able to show you two pictures of them.  Keep your fingers crossed that they'll make a record as well.Feng Shui Long IslandQuite a backyard, isn't it??

The first pumpkin you will see was 40 days old yesterday:  It's current weight is 357  Pounds---as of yesterday.  Another 40 pounds makes it close to 400 pounds!   The pumpkin in the middle was 35 days old yesterday and weighed 436 pounds.  Keep adding :)  And finally, THE BIG ONE (as if the others weren't big enough!).  Pumpkin number 3 was 35 days old and weighed in yesterday at 601 pounds.

I have to wonder how many people on Activerain have PUMPKIN PATCHES IN THEIR BACKYARD????  Maybe none?

The LONG ISLAND RECORD for a pumpkin is 1,030 pounds.   The WORLD RECORD IS 1502 pounds.  Any bets if one of them will make it?  And which one?  If you want to see a GREEN THUMB, look at these pictures (and you thought YOU had one :)  You may visit her website at http://www.auspiciousgoat.com/ and this lovely woman's name is Carolyn Freund-Nelson in beautiful Northport, Long Island.

Grow, Carolyn, GROW!!
